Chapter 758: Anything for You
Chapter 758: Anything for You
"...'
Ultear's momentary rage and annoyance, and her apparent desire to fight Feng Ye, stood in stark contrast to Natsu Dragneel's reaction beside her.
He furrowed his brows slightly, his gaze turning cold. Then, as he looked at Feng Ye, his eyes widened in surprise as if he had realized something. He displayed a hint of astonishment.
Feng Ye paid no attention to Natsu and ignored Ultear, glancing casually at the five floating magic orbs. He took a step forward, casually picked one up, stroked it, and then casually tossed it aside.
The nearby space rippled, forming several spatial vortices, and the five magic orbs instantly fell into them, disappearing from view.
"What are you doing?!"
Ultear was startled by this and instinctively wanted to stop him, but Natsu stood immobile in front of her, even reaching out to block her path.
Ultear also realized something was amiss and halted.
"There's no need for such pointless actions. I've been awake all this time," Feng Ye said, turning his head after tossing the magic orbs into the spatial vortices.
He glanced casually at Natsu, his gaze calm. He saw through Natsu's intentions at a glance. The Infinite Clock Church had always believed that he was in a state of slumber, and the entire guild's existence was centered on awakening him to bring about an eternal night for the world, a world free from pain.
However, aside from Mebis and Acrea, no one knew his true situation; he had never actually been asleep.
"So, you are indeed..."
Natsu's eyes trembled, his voice carrying a hint of tremor, and his expression revealed a trace of fanaticism.
Feng Ye regarded him with a peaceful gaze.
Natsu took a deep breath, forcibly steadying his emotions, and immediately knelt on one knee, saying, "I'm glad you've been awake all this time. I implore you to bring about an eternal night for this world and erase death and suffering..."
Feng Ye shook his head gently. "A world without death or pain is, in itself, a form of suffering. That is not paradise but hell."
"How can that be..."
Natsu's body stiffened, and he looked up at Feng Ye.
A faint glimmer appeared in Feng Ye's eyes, and he cast an illusion on Natsu, allowing him to glimpse the scenes of hell.
In the world created by Chaos, there was also a hell, a place where there was no death or pain, as Natsu had wished for. But such a world was indeed hell.
Without pain and death, life knew no fear, and one could only imagine what a world without fear would be like!
Natsu stood frozen, his eyes reflecting a look of bewilderment.
On the other side, Ultear widened her eyes, gazing at Feng Ye with a hint of disbelief. Even though she might be foolish, she could clearly understand what Natsu's actions implied. Moreover, she was far from stupid; she was a mage who could easily manipulate the Magic Council and Jellal.
Feng Ye turned to Ultear, smiling faintly. "I found you interesting when we first met, so I decided to tease you a little. Do you hate me now?"
"No... I don't..."
Ultear's voice trembled slightly. The turn of events had caught her completely off guard, leaving her mind in disarray.
The mage who had teased her on multiple occasions turned out to be the very mage she had admired, revered, and respected the most. This realization left her tongue-tied.
"Yes, I apologize... I failed to recognize your identity... I should be punished. If it's you, then of course, you can do anything..."
Feng Ye looked at Ultear's incoherent state and smiled gently. He paused briefly in thought and then pointed at her.
To be precise, what Ultear received went beyond the Arc of Time; it was true and orthodox time magic, devoid of the limitations that plagued the Arc of Time.
"This is the complete version of the Arc of Time magic. I'm giving it to you. If you truly wish to strive for the advancement of this world, then don't seek instant results. Use the power you possess to safeguard this world and let it progress gradually."
After imparting all the knowledge about time magic to Ultear, Feng Ye turned to her with a relaxed expression and began walking out of the cave.
Ultear stood rooted to the spot, still absorbing the vast amount of information about time magic. She turned her head to follow Feng Ye's movement, her eyes fixed on his retreating back.
"Oh, right."
After taking a few steps, Feng Ye suddenly remembered something. He turned his head slightly to glance at Ultear once more and then smiled gently. "You do look quite cute like this."
Leaving behind this comment, Feng Ye's figure faded silently and eventually disappeared, leaving only a bewildered Ultear and a stunned Jellal in his wake.
...
Hot Spring Inn.
In a spacious and clean room.
Lisanna, Mira, Erza, and Lucy were engrossed in a game of mahjong, with Levy sitting beside Lucy, helping her with her tiles.
Feng Ye lay on a mat nearby, with Wendy standing on his back, her tiny feet padding up and down, using her weight to give him a massage. Juvia sat in front of Feng Ye, her cool hands soothingly massaging his head.
At that moment.
Feng Ye opened his eyes, stretched his body, and stood up.
"Yah!"
Startled by his sudden movement, Wendy lost her balance and toppled to the side. But before she could hit the floor, Feng Ye reached out and caught her.
Feng Ye took a couple of steps forward, sat down with Wendy in his arms, and turned to the mahjong table, a smile on his face. "So, how's it going? Who's winning?"
"I'm behind," Mira admitted with a smile, her large eyes curving happily. "Lucy's a quick learner."
Feng Ye chuckled. "Is that so?"
"This kind of thing is a piece of cake for me!" Lucy asserted confidently.
Feng Ye glanced at the four women's tile sets and remarked casually, "Hmm, it wouldn't be fair if you were betting your allowance, considering there's a young lady of noble birth among you. How about this—I'll give the winner a gift, and I'll personally cook a meal for the first runner-up."
Lucy blinked. "Really?!"
Mira's eyes sparkled. "In that case, we can't just play casually anymore."
Erza's body shimmered, and she instantly changed from her white bathrobe into a crisp and smart kimono. "Bring it on!" she challenged.
Lisanna giggled. "Then I guess I'll have to get serious too."
A bead of sweat formed on Levy's forehead. "This is scary... The atmosphere has completely changed."
She shot a cautious glance at Feng Ye.
Feng Ye smiled at her and said, "You can team up with Lucy. If the two of you win, you'll get the same rewards."
"Ah... then we can't just talk the talk," Levy said, her eyes sparkling with determination. She patted Lucy's shoulder and sat up straight next to her, exclaiming, "Let's do our best, Lucy!"
