Chapter 757: [Pirates Are Crap]
Chapter 757 [Pirates Are Crap]
"King.Randolph King."
Yef lowered his head, voice trembling. "Impossible... King has always been good to us. He genuinely cared for us."
"Was he truly that benevolent?"
David countered, "I've studied your nation, Devil Fruitkingdom. Your Devil Fruits are exported worldwide, and King Randolph's trade empire generates immense wealth. Yet your people live in wooden dwellings reinforced with stone—primitive structures. You could easily develop into a prosperous nation like Dressrosa, but instead, you cling to this archaic lifestyle. And worse, I've heard rumors that Randolph squanders resources recklessly. He owns properties across continents, including membership at the grandest entertainment city, Gran Tesoro."
"You deserve better. With just a fraction of his wealth, he could elevate your lives beyond this primitive existence. But he chooses not to. You still wear grass-woven garments, while he dons such attire only within the island. When he travels abroad, he parades in the most luxurious silks."
"He exploits your labor to fuel his indulgences. He’s merely a tyrant born into privilege. Place him in a poverty-stricken land, and he’d be powerless. Now look—he sacrifices villages to preserve his throne, inciting you to resist me. This delays Dressrosa’s 'World Unification' ideal and robs you of the opportunity to embrace its advanced civilization alongside us!"
"Such a man—what kindness has he shown you? What loyalty does he deserve? You're nothing more than his invisible slaves!!"
David's words struck like thunder, leaving the soldiers stunned, their convictions crumbling.
"No... No, it can't be", Yef whispered. "Lord Randolph is a good King."
They’d never questioned him before. In their hearts, Randolph had always been a gentle sovereign.
"I’ve seen the Fruit Domain with my own eyes!" Yef insisted. "Randolph visits the sick personally, comforts the bereaved, and delivers speeches telling us how blessed our nation is, how proud we should feel. He is a good King. We’re the ones who’ve failed him—thinking of surrender, ignoring his sacrifices!"
"Then... has he ever taken real action?" David’s quiet question hit Yef like a lightning bolt. He froze.
Real action?
Yef’s eyes widened as memories resurfaced. When a villager fell ill, Randolph visited—but only briefly. When another lost a leg and arm to a snakebite while harvesting fruits, the King offered condolences... then left him crippled and destitute.
David closed his eyes, sighing. "Words of comfort matter little when a ruler fails to act. A true King wouldn’t just offer sympathy—he’d provide compensation for injuries sustained in national service. As their sovereign, he bears responsibility for their well-being!"
"Empty words achieve nothing. As the adage says: 'Judge by deeds, not promises.' A leader who speaks grandly yet acts negligently is worthless."
Wilbur flipped open Justice Quotes and nodded. "Page 1, Section 18, from Kuro Mr.: 'Judge by deeds, not promises.'"
"Pirates!" Yef blurted, though his face had paled. "It might’ve been pirates!"
"Pirates? Pirates wouldn’t dare such a crime here", David scoffed. "This is G-3 Jurisdictional Waters. Are you questioning Lord Kuro’s Navy?"
"Pirates seek treasure, not systematic slaughter. If it were pirates, they’d announce themselves proudly, not strike anonymously. As Kuro Mr. said: Pirates Are Crap. Such vile creatures crave attention—they’d never operate in silence."
Wilbur nodded enthusiastically. "Page 2, Section 1: Pirates Are Crap. Now I grasp its deeper meaning! Pirates flaunt their infamy to assert existence. They leave traces, spread stench—they’re not invisible threats. This connects to Section 3: Pirates Never Disappear, proving piracy’s inevitability... and the Navy’s necessity!"
Kas clenched his fist. "So pirates are the world’s rot, and we’re its sanitation force! We must purge their stench, restoring the world’s natural order!"
"Exactly, Kas!" Wilbur roared. "Whoever quotes Justice Quotes so fluently could never be evil!"
Donald frowned.
While Kuro Vice Admiral’s words sometimes stirred his soul, weren’t some quotes just grumblings? Remembering every line felt excessive...
Yet he shook his head. Perhaps that was why Wilbur and Kas earned Kuro’s favor. He had much to learn.
Someday, he’d master the Justice Quotes, understand Kuro’s philosophies, and refine his grasp of the elusive "Shi" martial arts—beyond mere spearplay.
