Chapter 756: The Immortal Lectures
Chapter 756: The Immortal Lectures
Gu An did not comment on Li Xuandao's aspirations. Everyone has their own goals, and even the greatest of people have their own private desires. He himself was no exception.
Li Xuandao had the right to choose his own path, as long as he didn't bring disaster to the entire Under Heaven.
There were countless evildoers in Under Heaven, and those who sparked wars were numerous, impossible to eradicate completely.
After chatting with Li Xuandao for half a day, Gu An wandered around the Taicang Dynasty alone, while Li Xuandao, brimming with excitement, returned to the imperial study to begin formulating his plans for conquest.
Unlike the chaos in various regions of Under Heaven, the Tai Cang Continent had remained peaceful, unaffected by the turmoil of Under Heaven.
However, even in peaceful lands, there were people who suffered. If Gu An encountered such individuals, he would not hesitate to help. He had the ability to save Under Heaven, but he didn't because of the laws of the Great Dao. Helping individuals, however, was a matter of personal choice.
Sometimes, seeing someone's fate change because of his intervention brought him a sense of satisfaction.
His figure vanished into the bustling city, seemingly insignificant and inconsequential in the vast expanse of Heaven and Earth.
...
In the void, countless sword shadows floated in all directions, forming a magnificent and awe-inspiring sword array. Each sword shadow was larger than a star, and within the array stood a red-robed sword cultivator with disheveled hair, holding a sword. Sword qi swirled around him, chaotic and fierce.
His gaze met that of Li Ya, who stood outside the sword array. Though they were far apart, their gazes clashed, causing the space between them to ripple violently.
Li Ya, dressed in black, used his fingers as a sword, his sword intent manifesting spontaneously. In the Dark Void behind him, a terrifying sword shadow loomed, a manifestation of his sword intent.
"Your sword intent is incredibly powerful. Despite being at the initial stage of the Daozang Zizai Fairy Realm, your sword intent is strong enough to rival those of the same realm."
The red-robed sword cultivator spoke, his tone full of admiration, seemingly unthreatened by the sword array before him.
Li Ya's eyes were cold as he stared at the man. "Where do you come from, and why have you come to the Heavenly Spirit Grand World? Why do you sacrifice so many souls to your sword path?"
The red-robed sword cultivator laughed. "I come from the Jade Green Great World, a place you've likely never heard of. As for why I came, it was out of necessity. I am severely injured, and my sword intent has suffered karmic backlash. I need many souls to heal."
Li Ya frowned, surprised by the man's honesty.
To be so powerful despite being severely injured!
Li Ya felt hesitant, not out of fear of the red-robed sword cultivator, but because more and more powerful cultivators from the Heavenly Realms, like this one, were appearing. Some, like the red-robed sword cultivator, used the lives of the masses to heal themselves, while others founded sects with hidden ambitions. Whether within the mortal world or the Heavenly Realms, the situation was becoming increasingly chaotic.
"Seeing your talent, I can forgive your insolence. Serve me as a sword slave, and I can show you a higher realm of Heaven and Earth. This world will only grow more chaotic, and one day, even the immortals who guard this realm will struggle to protect themselves."
The red-robed sword cultivator looked at Li Ya, a cold smile on his face. As he spoke, Li Ya felt countless eyes in the darkness watching him, cold and sinister like the gaze of venomous snakes, making him feel uneasy.
Boom—
A terrifying force erupted from the depths of the darkness, stirring the Great Dao Essence along its path and causing Li Ya's black clothes to flutter. He instinctively turned his head to look.
In the distance, he saw two figures with formidable auras colliding at a speed far beyond his perception, leaving him in awe and fear.
One of the auras must be that of the legendary Celestial Spirit Deity. The Tian Dao Qiyun surrounding it is identical to the Heavenly Dao light layer enveloping the Heavenly Spirit Grand World, only more oppressive.
Even the Celestial Deity is restrained?
Li Ya thought to himself. At that moment, a strong wind rushed towards him, and he instinctively turned back. His pupils dilated as he saw the red-robed sword cultivator break through his sword array and charge right up to him.
The red-robed sword cultivator's face twisted into a grotesque and terrifying smile as he reached out with his right hand, as if a vengeful ghost were extending its hand.
...
The sun was bright, and in a bustling city, Gu An leaned against a courtyard wall, holding a large chicken leg. He munched on it while mumbling, "Zhao Zilong, amidst a million soldiers, wielded a spear and rode a white horse, charging in and out of the battlefield, his arms stained red with blood..."
In front of him stood a group of children, both boys and girls, the oldest no more than thirteen and the youngest just over five. They all looked at Gu An with tense anticipation, waiting for him to continue.
Gu An stopped and swallowed hard, as if he had choked. He gently patted his chest.
"Meat alone isn't enough. Who will sneak a jar of wine from home for me?" Gu An asked with a smile, which immediately set the children into a frenzy.
"You've already spent a lot of money on this roasted chicken, and you want to drink too?"
"Who does that, eating chicken and then asking for wine?"
"Cheater! Big cheater!"
"Keep talking, how can you stop here?"
The children grew anxious, some even raising their little fists as if they were about to punch Gu An.
The people on the street turned to look, most of them puzzled. Gu An's attire clearly indicated he was wealthy, so why was he arguing with a group of children?
Some women with children quickly moved away, fearing Gu An might be a bad person.
Gu An's smile grew wider. He widened his eyes and said, "You don't understand. If you were to buy a copy of 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms,' it would cost you much more than a roasted chicken. And if you found a storyteller as skilled as me, the expense would be even greater. You're getting a great deal for just a jar of wine and a chicken!"
An older boy angrily retorted, "Stop lying. It's not an immortal cultivation book, so how could it be that expensive?"
"Hey, you're right. 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' does have an immortal cultivation version. Do you know what cultivation technique Zhao Zilong practiced?" Gu An's words instantly defused the boy's anger, replacing it with curiosity. The other children also looked curious.
Gu An didn't continue but started to quickly finish his chicken leg. The children could only urge him on.
Boom!
A figure descended from the sky, landing on the street nearby, causing a cloud of dust to rise and a strong wind to howl. The children in front of Gu An screamed in surprise.
The people on the street began to flee in all directions, and everything fell into chaos.
When the dust settled, two figures became visible: the red-robed sword cultivator and Li Ya.
Li Ya was being held in the air by the red-robed sword cultivator, who had one hand around his neck. Li Ya was covered in blood and looked extremely disheveled.
"Still unwilling to submit? I’ve been restraining myself; otherwise, this city would have turned to ashes long ago. If you don’t agree, I’ll extract the souls of everyone in this city right in front of you and offer them as sacrifices."
The red-robed sword cultivator grinned menacingly. His eyes swept around, quickly focusing on Gu An and the group of children. The sight of so many children gathered in front of a courtyard wall was hard to miss.
Li Ya, with his back to Gu An, couldn't sense his aura, but he noticed the red-robed sword cultivator's gaze. He glanced over and his pupils dilated, followed by a strange smile appearing on his face.
