Chapter 756: Solving the Magic Deficiency Problem
Chapter 756: Solving the Magic Deficiency Problem
“Why do you ask?” Nicolas Flamel was taken aback, his curiosity piqued.
“My Magic is too scarce; it’s barely enough to use.” Ivan sighed, his face troubled.
Too little Magic? Nicolas Flamel looked at Ivan with a surprised expression. In his opinion, Ivan’s Magic was about seven or eight times that of his peers, more than enough to be used extravagantly.
Ivan had to explain that he had mastered several extremely powerful Magics, and his Total Magic Power was simply not enough to sustain a major battle.
Over a month ago, he had been lucky enough to defeat Voldemort by chance, but if the Dark Lord hadn’t been scared off and came back to test him, Ivan would have been completely helpless. Therefore, he desperately needed to find a way to significantly increase his Magic in a short time.
Listening to Ivan’s explanation, Nicolas Flamel nodded.
He had already asked Ivan about what happened in Knockturn Alley and knew that Ivan was not a match for Voldemort at the time.
Ivan had won purely because he was in a state of Magic Surge, which had scared Voldemort off.
As for why a fifteen-year-old Young Wizard would suddenly experience a Magic Surge, Ivan didn’t explain much, saying even he hadn’t figured out the exact reason.
Nicolas Flamel didn’t press further, as he could tell Ivan was telling the truth.
“There are many ways to increase Magic in a short time, but most involve dangerous Magic Transformations, and the rest probably wouldn’t be suitable for you,” Nicolas mused for a moment before speaking.
Ivan sighed in disappointment, knowing there couldn’t be a risk-free way to increase Magic.
However, to his surprise, Nicolas Flamel paused and then continued, “If you just want to have ample Magic during a battle, there are some tricks you can use.”
“What tricks?” Ivan’s spirits lifted, the disappointment on his face vanishing as he eagerly looked at the Alchemical Master, quickly asking for more details.
Magic was his last weakness. If he could resolve it, Ivan estimated that with his ability to use Bloodline Magic endlessly and the enhancement from Alchemical Artifacts, he should be able to stand up to Voldemort!
Nicolas Flamel smiled and stopped teasing, saying straightforwardly, “You’ll need to use the power of the Philosopher’s Stone!”
Philosopher’s Stone?!
Hearing this, Ivan was very excited. His Alchemy had just reached the seventh level, meeting the minimum requirement to create a Philosopher’s Stone!
Originally, Ivan had planned to quickly gather the materials and create his own Philosopher’s Stone, then use it to produce gold in large quantities to support his family.
He hadn’t expected that this would also help solve his Magic deficiency problem.
But upon further reflection, it made sense. The Philosopher’s Stone was called the ultimate Alchemical Construct by Nicolas Flamel, so it couldn’t just have the functions of transmutation and creating the Elixir of Life.
Those two functions were just the most appealing.
After a moment of excitement, Ivan gradually calmed down.
While he had the method for creating the Philosopher’s Stone, such a high-level Alchemical Construct was not something he could safely produce just by knowing the blueprint. Who knew if there would be any mistakes during the creation process, and how to use it once it was made was another issue.
He would have to seek Nicolas Flamel’s help for all of this.
So Ivan quickly calmed his emotions and looked at Nicolas Flamel, asking, "Master, what exactly should I do?"
"Continue your systematic study of alchemy. With your current level, there are still some areas you need to improve. Once you master enchantment magic, you should be ready", Nicolas Flamel replied.
Ivan frowned, hesitating to speak. There were only ten days left before the start of the next term, and he was worried that this period would not be enough to master enchantment magic.
After all, he had used up all his House Points...
And now, creating the Philosopher's Stone was the most urgent task, directly affecting his ability to defend against Voldemort's attack!
Various concerns flashed through Ivan's mind, but he ultimately kept them to himself.
Nicolas Flamel was well aware of the threat posed by Voldemort. Since he had chosen to have Ivan learn enchantment magic first, it must mean that a key step in creating the Philosopher's Stone required it.
"I understand, Master. I will master enchantment magic within ten days!" Ivan resolved, determined to achieve this without relying on the System's power, solely through his own efforts.
If he failed, Ivan would have to resort to his last option—feigning illness to take a few days off from Hogwarts.
Or, he could skip some less important classes and Apparate to this safe house from Hogsmeade during school hours.
Nicolas Flamel was unaware of Ivan's resolve to cut classes. In his view, Ivan had exceptional talent in alchemy, and mastering the basics of enchantment magic in ten days was not an insurmountable task.
As it neared dinnertime, the two walked to the living room, chatting along the way.
After a simple dinner, Ivan wasted no time and immediately immersed himself in the study of alchemy.
However, he did not delve into the usual complex alchemy books. Instead, he asked Nicolas Flamel about the methods of using enchantment magic.
With time being of the essence, he did not want to waste a moment.
Nicolas Flamel understood Ivan's urgency and spent several hours explaining the methods and precautions.
By around nine o'clock in the evening, Ivan, feeling well-versed in the theoretical knowledge, eagerly entered the laboratory to begin his first attempt.
"Hold the magical material in your palm and use your mind to channel magic to inscribe runic symbols", Ivan silently recalled the specific steps.
It sounded simple, but implementing it was far from easy.
Usually, when he created alchemical artifacts, he used specialized engraving tools to inscribe runic symbols. Now, he had to skip that step and use his mind to channel magic to do the inscribing, which was why it could be completed instantly.
Ivan picked up a piece of mithril metal and held it in his palm, but just as he was about to start, Nicolas Flamel stopped him.
"Let me set things up first", Nicolas Flamel drew his wand and waved it, causing the tables and chairs in the laboratory to fly to the corners. He then set up numerous defensive barriers to prevent the entire lab from being destroyed.
"If you sense anything going wrong, remember to drop the mithril metal immediately!" Nicolas Flamel warned earnestly.
This dramatic?
Ivan looked at the small piece of mithril metal in his hand and couldn't help but swallow hard...
