Chapter 753: Ivan: Is This Even Called Studying Hard?
Chapter 753: Ivan: Is This Even Called Studying Hard?
Of course, Ivan could tell what Nicolas Flamel was referring to. He shook his head helplessly and explained in a vague tone, "That was just luck. If it happened again, I might not be able to beat Voldemort."
"So you really defeated that person? The rumors in the Wizarding World recently are true?" Nicolas Flamel asked, his voice tinged with surprise and doubt.
"Aren't you already sure about that?" Ivan was taken aback. If Nicolas Flamel wasn't certain, why had he specifically congratulated him in the letter he sent?
Nicolas Flamel smiled but didn't answer.
He had known about Ivan's victory over Voldemort a week ago, but at first, he found it hard to believe.
If it weren't for the clear photos and the fact that the message was delivered by Dumbledore's Phoenix, Nicolas Flamel might have suspected someone was trying to fool him.
After all, he had spent over a month with Ivan last year and had tested his magical abilities. Although Ivan was far superior to most adult wizards, he still had a significant gap compared to Voldemort.
Logically, no matter how talented a person was, it was impossible to make such a huge improvement in just one year.
However, all the subsequent information he gathered confirmed that the event was real, so he sent a letter to confirm it ...
"I never expected your progress to be so rapid. In just one year, you've defeated the notorious Voldemort ... Perhaps with your talent, you might really achieve what this book describes." Nicolas Flamel looked at the New Century Manifesto in his hand and said with a sigh.
Listening to Nicolas Flamel, Ivan realized that the Alchemical Master had been half-doubting and half-probing with his letter.
In a sense, he had inadvertently confirmed everything.
Ivan felt quite helpless. He didn't want too many people to know about his victory over Voldemort because he couldn't explain how he had managed to defeat him.
So, before Nicolas Flamel could ask any more questions, Ivan quickly changed the subject.
"By the way, Master, I forgot to tell you that I've successfully completed the task you gave me last time."
As he spoke, Ivan took a gray iron lump from his wizard robes and placed it on the table. It was about the size of a palm and had a peculiar shape, resembling a badge.
In fact, it was a badge, but it had been made in a rush, so there wasn't time to refine its appearance.
Fortunately, Nicolas Flamel wasn't concerned about the minor imperfections. Upon seeing the badge, he let out a light exclamation, picked it up, and examined it closely.
"It seems you've already grasped the basics of the Magic guidance I taught you", Nicolas Flamel confirmed after a few seconds.
He also guessed that Ivan had condensed a form of anger into the badge, which would cause a massive explosion when activated with a bit of Magic and thrown.
However, if he remembered correctly, the trial he had assigned to Ivan was to repair a Crescent Pendant, not to create this iron lump.
Nicolas Flamel looked at Ivan with curiosity.
"I fixed the pendant and gave it away. It wouldn't be right to ask for it back", Ivan said, recalling that day, a bit embarrassed.
Nicolas Flamel nodded without much further inquiry. What he truly wanted to test was whether Ivan could master the art of guiding Magic, and the badge had already proven that.
"Does this mean I’ve passed the test and am now your Disciple?" Ivan quickly asked.
"Of course, haven't you been calling me Master all along?" Nicolas Flamel said with a smile.
Ivan was overjoyed. Although Nicolas Flamel had taught him a lot about alchemy before, the lack of a formal master-disciple relationship had always created a barrier between them. He had never dared to ask about more advanced alchemy knowledge, fearing it might upset the Alchemical Master. Now, with that barrier removed, he had no such concerns.
"Since you are now my Disciple, starting tomorrow, I will assign you a heavy workload. You’d better be mentally prepared", Nicolas Flamel said, his smile fading as he became more serious. He pulled out a parchment from a drawer and placed it on the table.
Ivan took it and saw that it was a schedule.
According to the schedule, he would need to wake up at 6:30 AM, study alchemy with Nicolas Flamel from 7 AM to 12 PM, practice making Magic Items from 2 PM to 5 PM, and then read books until 10 PM after dinner...
Notably, there was even one day a week set aside as a holiday.
"Master, isn’t this schedule a bit too lenient...?" Ivan asked cautiously after reading it.
"How can it not be strict? You only have one and a half months, yet there’s a lot to learn..." Nicolas Flamel replied with a stern face, but then he suddenly realized something was off. Ivan had just said the workload was too easy?
Nicolas Flamel couldn’t help but wonder if he had misheard.
But he hadn’t. This schedule was indeed too lenient for Ivan.
After several blood infusions, Ivan found that his physical endurance and adaptability were far beyond those of a normal person, allowing him to handle extremely intense study sessions.
For example, after Asia’s apparent death, he had often studied potion-making knowledge without sleep, managing to stay awake for three to four days at a time with the help of energy-boosting potions.
The current situation, in Ivan’s view, was no less dire than it had been then. The pressure from Voldemort loomed over him, making him feel he couldn’t afford to relax for a moment.
No one knew how long this threat would last, so Ivan was desperate to enhance his strength.
This was why, in Knockturn Alley, he had gone to great lengths to train with Dark Wizards, even at the cost of his reputation.
However, after multiple high-intensity battles, breaking through his current bottleneck through combat had become increasingly difficult. Ivan had to turn to alchemy for further improvement.
After all, relying on external aids to boost one’s strength was always the fastest method. The improved wand, protective ring, and Magic Ring he had previously crafted had all provided significant assistance.
But as Ivan’s strength grew, these methods began to lag behind his combat capabilities. Thus, learning more advanced alchemy knowledge became a necessity.
So, under Nicolas Flamel’s astonished gaze, Ivan firmly stated that he did not need any holidays or rest periods. He was willing to devote himself entirely to his studies, needing only two to three hours of sleep each day...
