Chapter 749: Everything You See Is Just an Illusion
Chapter 749: Everything You See Is Just an Illusion
"Using brute force has always been the most foolish method. I have a better way to deal with him!" Voldemort added.
Macnair immediately shut his mouth, and the hearts of Lucius and the others, which had been on edge, finally relaxed. This meant they wouldn't have to fight a losing battle.
After all, even the Dark Lord had stumbled in Knockturn Alley, indicating just how dangerous the place was. They might go in, but they might not come out alive...
"Severus, you teach at Hogwarts, so you should be familiar with Ivan Hals. What do you think of him?" Voldemort suddenly turned to Snape and asked.
Snape was taken aback for a moment, not expecting Voldemort to ask this question so suddenly. But he quickly regained his composure and, after a moment's thought, spoke up.
"Difficult to assess... He is the strangest and most talented student I've ever seen. Intelligent, studious, and full of a sense of justice, but sometimes he doesn't follow the rules and shows contempt for authority. He often gets mixed up with Potter and Weasley, and Dumbledore has praised him multiple times, even suggesting he join the Magic Society..."
As Snape spoke, Macnair and the others couldn't help but frown. To them, Snape's high praise of Ivan Hals seemed like a form of disrespect to their master.
However, Voldemort didn't seem the least bit angry.
"Very well, Severus, you haven't lied... But unfortunately, everything you see is just an illusion." Voldemort said grimly. "But you're right; his disguise is excellent. You must not have seen his arrogant, disdainful side!"
Snape and the others looked at Voldemort with confusion, not quite understanding what he meant.
Voldemort then proceeded to recount the events of that night in Knockturn Alley, omitting the details of his battle with Ivan.
When they heard that Ivan Hals had rallied an Auror Corps in Knockturn Alley and forcibly brought all the wizards to the Wizards' Market to listen to his declaration, Lucius and the others were stunned.
What kind of courage and audacity was this?
Was he really only fifteen?
Even Peter Pettigrew, standing beside Voldemort with his head bowed, couldn't help but tremble.
Snape was equally astonished. He had had a few interactions with Ivan Hals and had a vague sense that the boy wasn't as polite and mild-mannered as he appeared, but he never imagined that Ivan Hals harbored such ambition!
This was practically another Voldemort...
No, a Dark Lord even more powerful than Voldemort!
"Ivan Hals has a spell that can temporarily boost combat power, and he plans to gain Dumbledore's trust and then use this special spell to ambush and kill him..." Voldemort couldn't help but recall Ivan's arrogant demeanor that night, his expression growing increasingly grim.
"Severus, I need you to find an opportunity to pass this information to Dumbledore..." Voldemort said grimly.
"Yes, Master!" Snape replied, suppressing his shock and speaking respectfully.
"Dumbledore will never allow him to continue growing..." Voldemort muttered to himself. Even he could feel the profound threat Ivan Hals posed, let alone that hypocritical White Wizard.
Once Dumbledore fully understands Ivan Hals' true nature, the conflict will begin immediately. Regardless of who wins or loses, Voldemort would be able to reap the benefits.
With this in mind, Voldemort turned to a Death Eater with a brutish face and continued. "Yaxley, since you work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, try to get the Ministry of Magic to investigate Knockturn Alley. I'll have Macnair assist you."
The Order of the Phoenix is a bunch of useless trash, not even up to the standard of my newly gathered Death Eaters, let alone a match for the Auror Corps.
In terms of power, Dumbledore might not even be a match for Ivan Hals, so I need to find a way to further obstruct that brat... at the very least, I can't let him have the time to come after me.
Upon receiving the order, Yaxley and Macnair hurriedly nodded in agreement.
After discussing the strategy to deal with Ivan Hals, Voldemort shifted the conversation to the tasks he had assigned recently.
While he planned to stir up trouble between his two archenemies, he also needed to strengthen his own forces as much as possible, even if he intended to remain behind the scenes.
"Master, the Dementors are considering our proposal. The Ministry of Magic's recent actions have made them quite discontent. I believe it won't be long before they fully align with us!" Peter Pettigrew, also known as Wormtail, cautiously spoke up.
"Wormtail, I hope you understand that my patience is not infinite. I will give you no more than two weeks..." Voldemort said impatiently.
He had grown tired of these fence-sitters and desperately wanted his truly loyal servants to return to his side as soon as possible.
The first step was to secure the Dementors guarding Azkaban...
After issuing a brief warning to Peter Pettigrew, Voldemort turned his gaze to another Death Eater. "What about the Werewolves?"
"Master, Fenrir Greyback and his Werewolves are willing to join us, but they have one condition..." Amycus Carrow bowed slightly, hesitating before continuing. "They want the recipe for the Wolfsbane Potion."
Voldemort's brow furrowed. He knew very well who had created the Wolfsbane Potion, and asking Ivan Hals for the recipe was nothing short of a pipe dream.
However, he quickly seemed to have an idea, and his frown relaxed as he turned to Snape.
Before Voldemort could ask, Snape spoke directly. "I have deciphered the recipe for the Wolfsbane Potion, but the effect will be slightly weaker compared to the original."
"Excellent work, Severus. Even when my loyal servants return, you will still be my most trusted right-hand man!" Voldemort affirmed.
He was very pleased with Snape's performance; in a sea of bad news, this was the only good news.
"And you, Carrow." Voldemort turned to the Death Eater. "After the meeting, inform the Werewolves that I agree to their condition, but I will only provide them with the recipe after we have taken over the Ministry of Magic. Until then, we will supply them with enough Wolfsbane Potion each month."
"Understood!" Amycus Carrow bowed his head in response.
After this exchange, the tense atmosphere in the hall eased somewhat, but Lucius still looked pale and uneasy.
Soon, Voldemort's dark, raspy voice rang out from the front.
"Lucius Malfoy... do you have nothing to report to me? Or did you fail to complete the task I assigned you?"
