Chapter 748: Losing Their Home
Chapter 748: Losing Their Home
"Howl!"
Alice sat on the ground, surrounded by the wails of the subhumans. After repelling the brutal awakened humans, these subhumans, though fearful of the power of the Righteous Ones, managed to organize themselves and began cleaning the ravaged land. Those who were severely injured and overwhelmed by fear and despair, succumbed to their beastly instincts and began howling.
Witnessing this scene, Alice could only sigh.
She looked at the young werewolf before her and managed a gentle smile, "Child, can you tell me where we are?"
The little werewolf quickly nodded, "This is the central region of the Dust Path World. During a spatial shift, we accidentally got separated from our tribe and ended up encountering this group of humans... They've been chasing us ever since."
Subhumans grew faster than regular humans.
Even at a young age, this werewolf pup's answers were clear and logical.
Alice nodded slightly and continued, "How long has this spatial anomaly been going on?"
The little werewolf replied, "It's been several months now, three, four, five..."
Noticing the child's uncertainty about the exact time, Alice quickly changed the subject, "Do you know what caused this spatial anomaly?"
The little werewolf nodded repeatedly, "My mom said that a few very powerful awakened ones fought, and our home became like this. It took us several months to adapt to the new rules here."
Alice's expression turned serious, "Adapt to the rules here? I'm afraid that's not the case. Child, please tell me the pattern of changes here. I've accidentally arrived, got separated from my companions, and now I must find them and leave together."
But the little werewolf shook his head, "Sister, we can't get out. The further you go, the more chaotic the space becomes, and it might even throw you into the most dangerous places!"
"The most dangerous places?" Alice asked immediately, "Where is that?"
The little werewolf didn't answer right away, and another set of footsteps approached from behind.
Alice turned to see the mother of the little werewolf approaching.
Though she looked at Alice with fear, perhaps seeing the friendly exchange between Alice and her child, this adult werewolf mustered the courage to answer, "Ma'am, the most dangerous place is where the space is most stable, right at the center of the battlefield where it all began."
"We tried to escape, but the further we went, the more chaotic the space became. And most likely, it would throw us into the world's center. That place... is now occupied by the most powerful human awakened ones, a dead end for us."
Alice fell into deep thought after hearing the werewolf mother's response.
Typically, the center of an impact would be where the spatial rules were most chaotic.
But here, it was the opposite!
The further one moved away from the battlefield, the more unstable the space became.
As a seventh-stage awakened one, Alice quickly made her judgment.
The truth behind the spatial anomaly was likely not a simple aftermath of war, but a chain reaction triggered by the destruction of a special skill or object.
"It's alright," Alice said, "The origin rules won't change, or this might even be better news. As long as we destroy the root cause of the problem, we can smoothly exit from here and also pinpoint their location."
Alice gathered her thoughts, ready to confront the situation. She quietly activated her Will Essence, focusing intently on the werewolf mother before her, and asked, "The final question. Tell me, why were you and your kind attacked by those human Awakened?"
The werewolf mother replied without hesitation, "These soldiers were brought by the Awakened who started the great war. They occupied our survival space, drove us from our homes, bullied and killed us..." Her voice trailed off, filled with sorrow.
The surrounding subhumans, hearing this, began to mutter discontentedly. Alice turned to look, and saw the pain etched on their faces.
The Will Essence of the Righteous Pathway, however, told Alice that these subhumans were not feigning or pretending to be victims. The truth was as they said.
Alice fell silent, contemplating. Could these subhumans deceive her with their Wall-Building skills? Absolutely not.
The actions of the human Awakened were unacceptable to Alice. She sighed softly and opened her friend channel.
Alice: [Lindsay, I have some findings about the spatial state here.]
Lindsay: [I met someone who just told me about the situation in this world.]
Lindsay and Alice received the messages around the same time. They communicated in the friend channel, confirming that their information matched. Then, they closed the channel and turned their attention back to their respective tasks.
Alice looked up again. While she and Lindsay conversed, the werewolf mother and her child waited quietly.
As an adult, the werewolf mother understood what the presence of a Righteous Pathway maiden meant. Months of hardship had given her hope, and after meeting Alice's gaze, she spoke up, "Maiden, if you wish to leave this place, you must end this spatial anomaly! That place... it's located to the east of the inner ring world. Just follow the Sun to determine the time, and you won't go wrong!"
The little werewolf beside her added, "Sister, that place is very dangerous! My uncles and aunts went there and never returned, and our homeland hasn't been restored!"
Seeing her child's concern, the werewolf mother gripped her shoulder tighter, her claws almost digging into the flesh.
"You..." Alice was about to speak when a sudden spatial ripple appeared around them.
Alice and the subhumans on the floating island abruptly found themselves on another island, one with a flat terrain and abundant resources. And right in front of them was a camp of human Awakened!
"Enemy attack!"
"Sub... subhumans?"
"Grab your weapons and eliminate them all, now!"
The Awakened, surprised by the sudden appearance of the subhumans, sprang into battle mode, some with brutal smiles on their faces.
Just minutes ago, the subhumans had been the ones being hunted. Now, they were almost frozen in shock, some even losing control of their bladders.
Alice blinked, sensing the brutal and savage emotions swirling around her, feeding the humans' inner desires.
The Righteous Pathway maiden tightened her grip on her longsword and rose to her feet.
