Chapter 747: The Extermination
Chapter 747: The Extermination
Chen Chuan drew his sword and let Sigward's body fall to the ground. He then turned back to Qi Qianyang, whose eyes had already turned blood-red. Qi Qianyang grinned, "Long time no see."
Chen Chuan calmly pressed down the brim of his hat and said, "I said there's no difference."
Qi Qianyang didn't say much, as every second from this moment on was consuming his life. He let out a shout and spun around, forcefully swinging his whip forward. The power on the whip propelled it forward, section by section, until it reached the tip.
Chen Chuan sidestepped, and a loud explosion erupted beside him, creating a large crater where he had been standing moments ago. The blast was almost as powerful as a small bomb.
Ignoring the explosion, Chen Chuan sheathed his sword and charged forward, his scarf fluttering behind him.
The whip, after its high arc, was quickly pulled back by an unseen force, but it was clear that the speed of its retraction was almost parallel to Chen Chuan's rushing figure.
Qi Qianyang's enhanced senses allowed him to clearly see this scene. He was surprised to find that Chen Chuan's speed was even faster than what he had witnessed earlier. However, he would soon discover that this enhancement wasn't limited to speed but extended to other aspects as well.
After consecutively slaying numerous opponents, Chen Chuan's resonance with his Inner Self was deepening. In this state of harmony, his strength was gradually increasing with each powerful adversary he faced.
Qi Qianyang sensed something amiss. Before Chen Chuan's arrival, he didn't have time to retract his whip, so he had no choice but to block the descending longsword with his hand.
The amount of psychic power the sword could carry was limited, far less than what could be channeled through his own limbs. Therefore, with an abundance of psychic power, blocking a weapon with his bare hands wasn't a significant challenge.
Although this might consume more psychic energy, Qi Qianyang could only maintain this state for about two minutes. During this time, all his abilities were at their peak, so he didn't need to worry about the energy expenditure.
Chen Chuan's sword flashed as he slashed out several times, but Qi Qianyang blocked them all. He noticed that Qi Qianyang seemed unaffected by the sword and kept up with his attacks, realizing that it was due to the enhanced state he was in.
Seeing that the sword was ineffective, Chen Chuan quickly changed his approach. He released the sword and rushed into the inner circle, using his free-fighting skills to attack.
Qi Qianyang, sensing his sudden charge, immediately spun his shoulder, swinging his hand like a whip, with a distinct glow around his palm.
There was a loud clap as their fists collided, and the air around them exploded with psychic power, like sparks of fire. At that moment, Chen Chuan's Inner Self briefly vanished, but Qi Qianyang remained unfazed. Under the influence of the secret technique, his anomalous body could withstand such force, especially with his Obedience Energy, which was particularly well-suited to this technique.
Chen Chuan's eyes flashed, and he brushed his hands against Qi Qianyang's, allowing the Capture Force to seep in. Although it was still ineffective, he managed to grab Qi Qianyang's arm.
Qi Qianyang struggled as Chen Chuan grabbed him, and psychic power leaked from the point of contact. However, the light on Chen Chuan's palm remained undiminished, and for a moment, they seemed to cancel each other out. Chen Chuan pulled Qi Qianyang towards himself and punched towards his abdomen, a wave of energy rippling across his fist.
Although Chen Chuan's penetrating force was ineffective, his physical strength was far beyond what Qi Qianyang could counter. Qi Qianyang was dragged along, and he quickly released the whip handle, blocking the path of the punch with his other hand.
The punch was incredibly heavy, and Qi Qianyang's hand was pushed back, slamming into his abdomen. The light on his palm vanished instantly, and his palm bone cracked with a crunch. The impact shook his entire body, nearly sending him flying, but Chen Chuan pulled him back and kneed him in the chest. With a boom, Qi Qianyang arched his back like a shrimp, his feet leaving the ground, and his eyes bulging.
Chen Chuan grabbed Qi Qianyang's arm and, pressing their bodies together, swung him down forcefully, slamming him into the ground. He then picked up the fallen whip and swiftly wrapped it around Qi Qianyang's neck, tightening it with a mighty jerk.
Qi Qianyang let out a muffled cry and struggled desperately, but no matter how he twisted and flailed, Chen Chuan's grip on the whip remained unyielding, like steel.
Chen Chuan had noticed earlier that Qi Qianyang was constantly being drained, and this state couldn't last long. So, he waited patiently.
Qi Qianyang thrashed and twisted, trying various secret techniques and energies, and even attempted to counter with his psychic power, causing a faint glow around his neck. However, Chen Chuan suppressed all his efforts, countering with his own psychic power, rendering Qi Qianyang's struggles futile. Qi Qianyang could only pound and smash the ground, creating a deep pit, scattering grass and dirt in the process.
Two minutes passed quickly.
At that moment, Qi Qianyang's once-fierce power seemed to vanish, and his entire body deflated like a punctured balloon. His once-robust frame withered, and his eyes sank deep into their sockets. In a short time, he resembled a skeleton wrapped in with withered flesh.
Chen Chuan suddenly exerted force with his arms, and with a loud crack, Qi Qianyang's head was twisted off his body and rolled away.
Only then did Chen Chuan release his grip, allowing the corpse-like body to fall to the ground. He straightened up and walked towards the severed head.
Qi Qianyang's face contorted, and he turned his head to face Chen Chuan. "The teacher will come for you," he said with a grim smile.
Chen Chuan looked down at him and replied, "If he doesn't come for me, I'll go find him eventually." He lifted his foot and stomped down hard, but before Qi Qianyang could say another word, his entire head exploded with a loud slap.
After dealing with Qi Qianyang, Chen Chuan looked into the distance and noticed General Seraphina and her group had left and were moving away at an astonishing speed. Due to their rapid pace, they quickly became a mere dot on the horizon.
Chen Chuan reached out and grabbed at the retreating figure.
General Seraphina stumbled mid-run, clutching her abdomen. She felt something writhing and leaping inside, tearing and gnawing at her anomalous tissues and organs.
It wasn't just that; the entity seemed to be trying to crawl into her brain, and its intangibility made it difficult for her body's tissues to impede its progress, causing her great alarm.
She attempted to use her psychic power to expel it, but the lynx, having absorbed the power from the relic, was no longer easily suppressed by psychic force. Furthermore, this action seemed to anger it, causing it to wreak more havoc within her.
General Seraphina was not alone; several others were running with her, but at that moment, not a single person turned back, either because they hadn't noticed or were too afraid to do so.
General Seraphina had no choice but to pump more refined blood from her heart to repair the damage and continue running unsteadily running forward.
The insect swarm was right behind her, and she couldn't afford to stop; she had to get away quickly.
Based on her experience, she deduced that this was Chen Chuan's doing and that the lynx's influence had a limited range. She believed that by running far enough, she could escape its grasp.
Chen Chuan understood her intention, and the lynx's range was indeed limited. However, the distance might have increased since their encounter in the central city, where it had affected him from several zones away. With her current speed, she might not be able to endure it, and even if she did, she would still have to face the insect sand.
Chen Chuan turned his attention away from General Seraphina and walked back a few steps to where Euseios Hross had stepped on the relic. He gave it a gentle kick, and a surge of energy caused the dirt to shift, revealing the relic.
Chen Chuan bent down and picked it up.
In the distance, the sound of flapping wings approached, and Chao Ming flew towards him, carrying a lightweight backpack with his feet. Upon reaching Chen Chuan, he released the backpack, retracted his wings, and landed gracefully beside him, letting out a chirp.
Chao Ming was intelligent. When the insect sand appeared, he had flown off to retrieve Chen Chuan's backpack, which was too heavy for him to carry in one go. So, he used his claws and beak to untie the backpack's straps and brought its contents, divided into several packages, one by one.
Finally, he didn't forget to bring back the now-empty backpack.
Chen Chuan nodded in approval; Chao Ming had done an excellent job. The backpack contained medications that Chen Chuan would need in the future, and he had been carrying it with him, not trusting it to be left at home.
He patted Chao Ming's head and took out a can of specially prepared nutrient food from the backpack to feed him.
At that moment, the ground beneath them began to stir, and as Chen Chuan looked around, he noticed that the surrounding terrain had risen to a considerable height, approximately thirty to forty meters above the ground. He could now make out the features of the massive creature below.
It resembled a giant earthworm, with a series of hard shells and uneven wrinkles covering its body. Its serpentine form stretched for at least several kilometers, and beneath it were countless thick, writhing abdominal feet slowly propelling it forward.
Chen Chuan observed the creature thoughtfully, having already guessed its identity earlier. Now that he had confirmed it, he realized that the insect sand's rampage might not be a pressing concern.
Speaking of which, where were Captain Xu and the others? As this thought crossed his mind, he sensed movement in a particular direction and saw several figures rapidly approaching.
