Chapter 747: Kuro, Use Your Unbeatable Ability to Think of a Solution
Chapter 747: Kuro, Use Your Unbeatable Ability to Think of a Solution
The missile-shaped golden pillar still contained a layer of Haki inside, shrouded within Gold’s Glory.
This technique bore some resemblance to Donquixote Doflamingo’s "Divine Annihilation", though its power was significantly weaker. That man’s strings could slice through even steel and gold—but for Kuro, this was no match.
"Lion!"
He swung his Yokai Blade upward, unleashing a Haki-Infused Black-Gold Slash that surged forward in a sweeping arc, cleaving through the golden pillars in an instant.
"Not yet!"
Tezoro roared again, extending his left hand to mend the shattered gold. But Kuro’s shadow loomed before him now.
The Yokai Blade gleamed cold and sharp, its edge reflecting pale light. Kuro’s golden-trimmed uniform fluttered as he stepped closer, his blond hair catching the glow. The blade’s white sheen resembled the pallid garments of a certain girl from long ago.
"Stella..."
Tezoro whispered, momentarily entranced. His left hand—missing a ring on the ring finger—instinctively flinched open.
The Yokai Blade sliced through his neck with eerie smoothness, sending his head soaring.
The severed head, still dazed and bewildered, crashed heavily to the ground.
The golden torrents and clustered pillars shattered, exploding into a cascade of Golden Powder that scattered like dust.
"He’d already lost his senses", Kuro muttered, landing beside the headless corpse. "Otherwise, you’d know to build defenses first when facing someone like me—even if it wouldn’t have helped."
Kaku approached. "Is this the end?"
Kuro smirked. "If I wasted time on this level, I’d still be stuck in East Blue."
"Woah, so much gold!" Lida cheered, dancing under the falling Golden Powder. Then she frowned. "Kuro, use your unbeatable ability to save this stuff! Don’t let it go to waste!"
Kuro clenched his fist. The airborne and scattered Golden Powder reassembled into a massive golden sphere.
He’d have done it without her saying a word. This was pure gold, not Tezoro’s counterfeit alloys. And his ability required gold to function—plenty of confirmation there.
Without hesitation, Kuro launched the golden sphere skyward.
Collecting Golden Powder manually cost more than its worth, but his ability changed the game. Aggregating it condensed it into a dense gold mass—refine it later, and it’d be pure profit.
Kuro’s ability sustained the sphere’s levitation. If he fell, anything floating by his will would plummet. But condensed gold like this was permanent—unlike the Lion Mountains forged during his battle with that golden-haired old man. Even when the island sank, those Lion Mountains endured.
"Kuro."
Kaku called, nodding toward an open corridor. The molten metal walls revealed the outside—ten warships docked at Gran Tesoro’s battered hull, its neon lights extinguished.
"Here they come. Two of you go stall them. I’ll handle this."
"Got it." Kaku grinned, striding toward the ships. Zoro followed, his smirk mirroring Kaku’s.
Ten warships meant little. The real threat was Rob Lucci—the CP0 agent here to claim the treasure. Whatever his past missions, this one was tied to gold. They wanted this wealth, and he’d stop at nothing to seize it.
The World Government might turn a blind eye to covert theft, but brazen theft was provocation.
As Kaku and Zoro departed, Kuro surveyed the area. "Now, where’s the rest of this gold?"
Gran Tesoro wasn’t vast, but searching took time. With his ability, he could flatten the ship’s surface like lowering it by ten meters. But Rob Lucci’s arrival forced urgency—his World Government mandate left no room for negotiation.
Kaku and Zoro would stall verbally, not physically. Kuro needed to move faster.
He activated his Transponder Snail.
"Ah, Vice Admiral Kuro!" A slovenly face yawned through the device. "What’s up?"
"Your nap’s over. Get to work."
The line cut. A wisp of white light flashed, and Moer emerged, scratching his head lazily. "Vice Admiral, you called?"
Kuro pointed to nearby towers with spherical structures. "Scan those directions. Locate and extract any gold and treasure."
Lucci’s ability would detect combat, but Moer’s presence left no trace.
"Here? I heard this place was loaded", Moer muttered, eyeing the wreckage. "Vice Admiral’s making a move, huh?"
"Move faster", Kuro snapped. His hand clenched—the towers’ tops cracked open, spewing debris.
Moer shrugged. His palm glowed, scattering star-like motes into the broken structures. His form dissolved into light.
"Kuro! Look!"
Lida sprinted over, clutching nine Golden Rings.
Kuro’s eyes narrowed—Tezoro’s fingers were bare.
"Don’t loot corpses! We’re not pirates! Can’t you buy Golden Rings if you want them?!" Kuro rolled his eyes.
"Fine!" Lida tossed them.
"Don’t waste them!" Kuro caught the rings mid-air. "You took them already—don’t pretend you won’t keep them."
"Why nine?" Lida asked. "Shouldn’t there be ten?"
"Who can say?" Kuro shrugged. "If people were easy to predict, the world would be far too peaceful."
