Chapter 746: Confrontation (Part 1)
Chapter 746: Confrontation (Part 1)
Ripping through the spatial rift, the colossal body of Dragon Emperor Cadrigus appeared in the sky above the Sunlit capital city.
Roarrr!
He raised his majestic dragon head and let out a resounding roar that echoed through the city. Every Skrell in the capital heard his voice.
The Dragon Emperor did this to inform Manina of his arrival. This roar was also a warning to Manina that he would stand by his side if necessary.
Manina was already at the skrell expeditionary force headquarters, hovering above the capital, just a short distance from the spatial rift.
"Sure enough, he's here," Manina said with a faint smile. The message about the situation at the Alpes Spring had been relayed to the Dragon emperor by Manina's orders. He knew that once the Dragon Emperor received the news, he would return. And as expected, the Dragon Emperor had arrived.
"Come, Lanchi, let's go meet the Dragon Emperor," Manina said to Lanchi, who was standing beside him, preparing to fly out the window.
Lanchi was still apologizing for the earlier discussion: "Your Majesty, I am truly sorry about my brother. I never thought he would betray the country and escape through the embassy..."
"It's fine, Lanchi," Manina patted his shoulder reassuringly. "He is who he is, and you are who you are. I trust you completely."
With that, he flew out the window, heading toward where the Dragon Emperor was. Lanchi was deeply moved that the emperor did not blame him. He quickly followed the emperor's flight path, flying up to the sky above.
...
Not long after the Dragon Emperor had passed through the spatial rift, another rift opened up about ten kilometers away. The figures of the White Dragon Queen, the Red Dragon Queen, and the Black Dragon King emerged from it, returning to their home planet.
Manina had sent the message to both the Dragon Emperor and the Five-Color Dragon Kings simultaneously.
Upon receiving the message, the Five-Color Dragon Kings knew something was seriously wrong, and they had to return.
After a brief discussion, the White, Red, and Black Dragon Kings decided to pass through the spatial rift and return to their home planet.
The three dragon kings were far from calm. The Red Dragon Queen and the Black Dragon King were shocked by the sunlit accusations. Could the White Dragon Queen really have betrayed the United Government?
The White Dragon Queen, although not entirely calm, was in better shape than the other two. She had known that when Zhong Feng's identity was exposed and he was forced to admit he was a "Sacred Dragon Star Dragon," the truth about her own identity would not be far behind.
So, in the past month, she and her daughter, Koko, had made many preparations to deal with this situation.
Even if the skrells had concrete evidence, so what? She had only been making private transactions with the Blue Star humans, and they were fair trades, not plots to overthrow the United Government.
Moreover, the dragon race had a protective nature. Even if the evidence was undeniable, there would be minimal consequences, at most a stern reprimand and a public apology.
Seeing the figure of the Dragon emperor, the White Dragon Queen felt a great deal more secure. With the Dragon Emperor on her side, the skrells would have no means to harm her.
...
Upon seeing the three dragon kings, Dragon Emperor Cadrigus immediately flew toward them.
"Julie, the sunlits say they have concrete evidence that you have been colluding with the Blue Star humans. What is the truth of this matter?" the Dragon Emperor called out from a distance.
"Julie" was the name of the White Dragon Queen.
"Your Majesty, it’s completely untrue!" the White Dragon Queen responded with evident agitation. "I have never betrayed the United Government, and I swear by my own honor!"
"Besides, what benefit would betraying the United Government bring to our dragon race? Do you think we would team up with the humans of Blue Star to fight against the Skrull United Government? That’s an absurd joke!"
"I believe they are making baseless accusations and slandering us!" The White Dragon Queen’s tone was intense, filled with righteous indignation, as if she truly felt wronged.
The Dragon Emperor, upon hearing her words, found them reasonable.
What use would it be for them to collude with the humans of Blue Star?
Fighting the Skrull United Government alongside the Blue Star humans? That’s just a joke, right? If that were to happen, countless dragons would die, and there’s even a chance our entire race could be wiped out! Even if they won, the remaining dragons would be confined to Dragon Island, with no real benefit at all.
They would have to be out of their minds to collude with the humans of Blue Star.
...
As they spoke, the four top-tier dragons had already flown the mere dozen kilometers to regroup.
The Dragon Emperor now trusted the White Dragon Queen, but he still asked, "Then why did the human-turned-black dragon, who just arrived at Dragon Island, go to see your daughter, Koko?"
"How should I know?" the White Dragon queen replied with distress. "When I asked Koko, she said the black dragon was just like the other returning dragons, bringing gifts with no special agenda."
At this moment, the Red Dragon Queen, a close friend of the White Dragon Queen, interjected, "Could it be this situation?"
As all the dragons turned their attention to her, the Red Dragon Queen continued, "The human-turned-dragon went to see Koko as part of an act?"
"An act?"
"Exactly. When dragons return to Dragon Island, many offer gifts to the direct descendants of the Dragon Emperor and the Dragon Kings to seek favor. The human-turned-dragon, upon learning this custom, decided to do the same, ensuring no one would doubt he was a native dragon."
"That makes sense," the Dragon Emperor and the Black Dragon King nodded in unison.
It did explain the situation.
...
As they conversed, Manina arrived at the spatial rift with Lance.
Even from a distance, they hailed the Dragon Emperor and the three Dragon Kings: "Your Majesty, Dragon Emperor! Three Dragon Kings, it’s a pleasure to see you."
"Manina," the Dragon Emperor’s tone was far from cordial. "You claim that Julie betrayed the United Government and colluded with the humans of Blue Star. Can you provide evidence?"
Upon hearing the Dragon Emperor’s words, Manina remained calm.
He and Lance stopped 200 meters from the Dragon Emperor and chuckled, "Of course, we have evidence.
We have now confirmed that the black dragon who visited Dragon Island a month ago was a human from Blue Star.
This human went to visit Princess Koko immediately upon arriving on the island. We have reason to suspect that Princess Koko has secret dealings with this human from Blue Star."
Upon hearing Manina’s words, the four top-tier dragons exchanged glances.
The Red Dragon Queen moved forward and said, "We’ve already discussed this, and our conclusion is—there is no direct link between the human from Blue Star visiting Princess Koko and Princess Koko betraying the United Government. So, you can’t convince us with just this."
