Chapter 744: Let's Get Started, Following the Old Rules!
Chapter 744: Let's Get Started, Following the Old Rules!
"Lord Hals, please forgive my boldness, but I believe we should establish a dedicated Department of Propaganda", Gryson stepped forward from the crowd, his voice slightly nervous.
Propaganda?
Ivan raised an eyebrow and said, "Go on, tell me more..."
With Ivan's permission, Gryson bowed slightly and began to eloquently explain the importance of establishing the Department of Propaganda.
The British Wizarding World was much larger and more complex than Knockturn Alley. While they could seize control of the Ministry of Magic through sheer force, this would inevitably bring numerous drawbacks, the most immediate being the constant troubles and unrest that would follow.
Therefore, it was essential to use propaganda to convince all wizards that they were the righteous side and that everything they did was for the future of the Wizarding World.
Ivan nodded as he listened. He understood this well. Over the years, he had repeatedly had Rita Skeeter report his "achievements" truthfully, not only to see if he could earn Legendary Points but also to promote himself and undermine the authority of the Ministry of Magic.
Despite Minister Fudge's recent poor performance, most of his mistakes had been forcibly covered up and were not widely known. If these could be exposed through propaganda, the enraged wizards would spontaneously oust Fudge without their intervention.
The more Ivan thought about it, the more he realized that establishing a propaganda department was indeed necessary, as controlling the channels of communication often meant controlling the narrative.
"Your suggestion is excellent, Gryson. The newly established department will be under your charge!" Ivan said appreciatively.
"Thank you for your trust, Lord Hals! I will not let you down..." Gryson bowed slightly, masking his inner excitement, and slowly retreated back into the crowd.
Rochelle and others watched Gryson with envious eyes. They understood that from today on, Gryson's status would significantly rise, leaving them far behind.
"Is there anyone else who wishes to speak?" Ivan looked around the room. After a long moment with no one stepping forward, he waved his hand and said, "Then... the meeting is adjourned!"
Relieved to finally be able to leave, the wizards present let out a collective sigh of relief. The subtle pressure emanating from Ivan made standing there feel like a daunting task. After bowing and bidding farewell, they practically fled the living room.
Ivan watched as they hurriedly departed, shaking his head in resignation. It seemed this misunderstanding would not be cleared up anytime soon...
After the meeting, Ivan spent the next few days pushing aside most of his miscellaneous duties and fully immersed himself in magic practice.
Ivan knew that expanding influence and courting the powerful were merely small tactics. The true foundation of everything was strong power!
This was also why he could confidently delegate authority even when he was often away from Knockturn Alley. Dawgert, Fenrir, and Gryson, as long as they weren't completely foolish, would understand that forming factions and plotting rebellion would only lead to their demise.
The reason was simple: the strength he had displayed that night was such that even if all the wizards of Knockturn Alley united, they wouldn't stand a chance against him.
So, his top priority now was to quickly turn this apparent strength into reality. Otherwise, if the truth were to come out, all his carefully constructed efforts would crumble instantly.
However, significantly boosting his strength in a short time was no easy task. Ivan soon found himself disappointed when he realized that he couldn't complete any of the tasks the System had issued.
Even the easiest of the dark minions could only reluctantly give up after Ivan took a trip to Azkaban.
Of course, this wasn't because the Dementors had forgotten him, their "great hero", after over a year.
On the contrary, this meeting went quite smoothly, with most Dementors willing to follow his commands. However, even so, there was not the slightest bit of progress in the Mission Objective.
Ivan, feeling puzzled, could only guess that the Mission Objective required these Dementors to submit to him personally.
This wasn't hard to understand. After all, with his Boggart transformation, he could impersonate Voldemort and command the Death Eaters, but that didn't mean he had truly subdued them.
So, after spending half a day developing the Dementors into Undercover Agents, Ivan left Azkaban with a disgruntled expression, temporarily abandoning the idea of using Protection Mode to boost his power. Instead, he placed his hopes in diligent practice.
The only silver lining was that the Underground Fortress's prison held over thirty Dark Wizards who could serve as sparring partners. This meant he didn't have to mindlessly cast spells at Wooden Dummies but could improve himself through real battles...
...
One week later, in the evening, in the Underground Fortress's Training Room, fifteen Wizards stood at various corners, forming a surrounding formation.
In the center, Ivan, surrounded by the group of Wizards, showed no trace of fear. He slowly drew his wand from his sleeve and spoke casually.
"Let's get started, same rules as before!"
"Oh, I almost forgot you don't have those memories. In short, there's no quarter in this fight. You can attack me in a group, and if you can defeat me, I'll release you from the prison..."
Ivan briefly explained the rules, then stood in the center, waiting for them to make their move.
The fifteen Wizards, gripping their wands, trembled with fear and despair in their eyes.
Though they outnumbered him, not one of them believed they could win.
This wasn't their first such battle. Despite lacking memories of past fights, they weren't fools. Over these days, not a single Wizard had been released, and instead, many had been mysteriously injured, some even fatally.
If surrender were allowed, they would have long since begged for mercy.
"Relax, I won't use my full strength or kill you. Since you aren't making the first move, I'll start!" Ivan, growing impatient, raised his wand.
At that moment, Ivan suddenly interrupted his casting as a crimson beam shot at him from the side.
It was Evers, his eyes bloodshot, gritting his teeth and shouting, "There's no way out of here. We'll fight this demon to the end!"
"Confringo! (Exploding Spell)"
"Reducto! (Sectumsempra)"
...
Encouraged by Evers' yell, more Wizards reacted, raising their wands and firing spell after spell. The magical beams intertwined in the air, forming a web that blocked all of Ivan's escape routes.
"Exactly!" Ivan said with satisfaction, his form flickering as he used Apparition to vanish and reappear instantly in Dragon Transformation, landing a punch on Evers' face...
