Chapter 743: Sweeping Victory
Chapter 743: Sweeping Victory
Upon Chen Chuan's sudden disappearance from his original position, he immediately headed towards the Linax Federation's side. Not only was it the gathering point for a larger group, but the fighter who had just launched a psychic attack against him was also among them, making him the primary target for elimination.
Over a dozen individuals had gathered under the Linax Federation's banner, including both close-combat fighters and towering gunners with a background in fighting. Each wore their exoskeletons, further bolstered by heavy-duty protective cloaks, and wielded high-caliber rifles capable of delivering small-scale artillery-like firepower. A single shot at close range was enough to overwhelm most fighters of their caliber.
From the outset, their rifles were aimed at the distant Chen Chuan. However, as Chen Chuan vanished from their sight, their hearts skipped a beat. In this state of heightened stress, their exoskeletons automatically injected them with performance-enhancing drugs, not only boosting their physical abilities but also sharpening their senses.
As Chen Chuan's second self merged with his body, his speed surpassed the perception of everyone present. They could only vaguely sense something through the intense fear gripping them, causing them to fire their guns in the perceived direction. The entire area reverberated with the thunderous roar of gunfire.
Chen Chuan's psychic abilities allowed him to sense impending danger in the darkness. His psychic power amplified his senses, enabling him to catch a fleeting glimpse of a figure moving at incredible speed towards their location.
But it was too late. Even with this foresight, his body couldn't react in time.
In the face of extreme danger, his spirit world seemed to freeze, including himself and everyone else, as if time had stopped. His expressions and movements were suspended, except for the large particles of gunfire that continued to streak through the air, tearing through the atmosphere.
However, the swift figure navigated through the gaps in the bullets, unwavering in its approach. The knife, initially held in a reverse grip with the blade facing outward, was now swung sideways as the figure swiftly passed by, effortlessly slicing through the necks of the entire row of fighters.
The air shimmered with the perfect arc of the knife's passage. Chen Chuan witnessed "Wild Wolf" attempting to dodge at the last moment, even drawing his dagger halfway out of its sheath. But before he could complete the action, the blade had already slashed past.
In the next instant, everything seemed to return to normal. The world around Chen Chuan flipped upside down, as if colliding with the ground, rolling a couple of times before coming to a halt. He heard a series of thuds as he turned his head, witnessing headless corpses collapsing, with several severed heads rolling amidst them.
From the perspective of those farther away, after Chen Chuan vanished from his original position, a flash of light accompanied by a loud rumble signaled the gruesome scene of the Linax Federation fighters' heads dropping from their necks.
The sight was terrifying, causing everyone to break out in a cold sweat.
But where was Chen Chuan?
Chen Chuan, in his pursuit of maximum attack efficiency, had advanced towards the Linax group. Now, at the far end of his vision, he spotted a man dressed in crimson protective gear, his hair tied in a bun, and his eyes an uncommon shade of red. Recognizing him as the Pinnacle Lifeform "Blood Diamond" Shaofuer Sat, Chen Chuan followed the trail of power, heading towards the man.
Blood Diamond was currently in the process of recovery. Severely injured by Xu Chan's psychic attack, he had barely clung to life. Even with the best medicine, it would take several days for a full recovery, making it impossible to return to his previous combat prowess in the short term. Thus, he had remained at the rear.
As a master of psychic perception, Blood Diamond could vaguely discern Chen Chuan's figure. However, to his surprise, after Chen Chuan had slain a portion of the Linax fighters, he charged directly towards him, causing Blood Diamond to be momentarily startled.
In a desperate attempt, Blood Diamond summoned all his strength, disregarding the blood gushing from his torn wound. He let out a roar, grabbing the zither-shaped shield on his back and positioning it in front of him. But as the sword slashed down, a crisp 'sizzle' sounded, and the sturdy shield was effortlessly cleaved in two. Blood Diamond's head flew off his neck, rolling away into the distance.
The transformed tissue within Blood Diamond's body continued to exert force, causing his headless body to charge forward a few steps, holding the remaining half of the shield, before collapsing to the ground with a loud thud.
This scene sent a chill down everyone's spines.
Such a swift death upon meeting was rarely seen in battles between Tier Three experts. Even when a quick victory was achieved, it typically involved a contest of skills and techniques, not a one-sided slaughter.
Blood Diamond, though not ranked among the top thirty in the world, was still within the top hundred. Even when injured, his final desperate struggle was not to be underestimated. Yet, Chen Chuan had effortlessly dispatched him with a single blow, leaving a profound impact on the onlookers.
Chen Chuan, after successfully obtaining the Blood Diamond, didn't even glance back. He veered to the side and continued running forward, creating a wide arc around the area where everyone was standing. From above, it was clear that he was maintaining an incredibly high speed throughout his detour, and as he returned, he didn't slow down.
Heros, with his keen senses, was one of the few who could perceive Chen Chuan's movements. He shouted to Gray Whale, "Varconi, stop him!"
Gray Whale, one of the fastest and strongest among them, had just taken a powerful punch from Qi Qianyang but had suffered no serious injuries due to his robust defense.
Upon hearing Heros, Gray Whale immediately charged towards Chen Chuan with his hammer in hand. His massive three-meter-tall frame moved swiftly, almost like a shadow, a unique effect of his powerful force.
Gray Whale rushed forward fearlessly, not oblivious to Chen Chuan's earlier display of strength. He knew that if he didn't stop Chen Chuan now, most of them, including himself, would likely perish.
And once a speed-oriented opponent like Chen Chuan was halted, the fight would become much easier.
Chen Chuan, seeing Gray Whale charging towards him, showed no intention of dodging. Instead, he rushed forward to meet him head-on.
Just before they collided, Heros burst from the side, knowing that Gray Whale might not be enough. With his added force from the side, they could stop Chen Chuan.
From above, the two men's paths formed a blunt angle, both converging towards Chen Chuan in the middle.
Chen Chuan didn't glance back; his eyes were fixed on Gray Whale in front of him. As they were about to collide, Chen Chuan's skin grew hot, and white mist rose from his body, further increasing his already incredible speed. Heros was left behind as Chen Chuan's pace quickened.
Chen Chuan held the Snow Lady Sword with both hands and lunged forward, piercing Gray Whale's heart before he could react. With a slight exertion of force, he lifted Gray Whale's massive body into the air.
Then, following the sword's momentum, Chen Chuan slashed diagonally, cutting the three-meter-tall Gray Whale in half. The force of the sword's energy caused the entire body to explode, sending blood and organs flying through the air.
Just then, a barrage of bullets rained down from the front. Chen Chuan's eyes flickered, and he lifted his sword, parrying the bullets with flashing sword beams. He spotted General Saber standing on a hill, firing a heavy machine gun at him.
Despite the bullets causing no harm, Chen Chuan's breakneck speed momentarily slowed. At that moment, Heros appeared behind him, his massive frame casting a giant shadow as he approached.
Chen Chuan didn't continue his forward charge. Instead, he halted, clenching his free hand into a fist and striking sideways towards Heros. Their heart power clashed in mid-air, and as they drew closer, their psychic powers on their fists gradually dissolved.
But to Heros's surprise, even after his fist's glow completely dissipated, Chen Chuan's fist still retained a resilient light. Heros couldn't change his attacking posture and had no choice but to collide.
The moment their fists met, a thunderous boom erupted, and a cloud of dust rose where they clashed, as if a bomb had detonated. A figure was sent flying backward, landing a great distance away and rolling several times before coming to a stop.
It was Heros.
His arm was twisted beyond recognition, and half of his body, from the shoulder down, was shattered. Even the intact half of his body was covered in fine cracks that extended to his face, leaving him motionless.
Chen Chuan stood in his attacking stance, his fist still glowing faintly. Steam rose from his body, and even the blade of the Snow Lady Sword emitted wisps of white smoke.
Everyone watching held their breath in awe.
Suddenly, a robust figure emerged from the river, water droplets rolling off his muscular frame. Qi Qianyang strode forward, leaving footprints in the mud as he approached.
Qi Qianyang wiped the blood from his mouth, surveyed the scene, and then turned to Chen Chuan with a grin. "Our fight isn't over yet."
