Chapter 743: Sweeping Strike
Chapter 743: Sweeping Strike
As Chen Chuan emerged from his location, he immediately headed towards the Linaksis Federation's side. Not only was this side crowded with people, but the fighter who had just launched a psychic attack against him was also there, making him a top priority target for elimination.
Over a dozen people had gathered on the Linaksis Federation's side, including front-line fighters engaged in direct combat and several tall gunmen in the rear, all of them former fighters.
Each of them wore external implants to enhance their mobility, further covered by thick protective cloaks. They carried large-caliber firearms capable of dealing devastating damage, comparable to miniature cannons. A single shot at close range was enough to overwhelm most fighters of their caliber.
From the start, their guns were aimed at the distant Chen Chuan. However, Chen Chuan suddenly vanished from their sight, causing their hearts to skip a beat. In this stressful situation, their implants immediately injected performance-enhancing drugs into their bodies, significantly boosting their physical abilities and enhancing their senses.
But even with this boost, Chen Chuan's speed exceeded their perception. They could only vaguely sense something, and in their heightened state of alarm, they fired their guns in the direction they felt the threat. The entire forest echoed with the sound of gunfire.
The Dreammaster's psychic abilities allowed him to sense the impending danger in the darkness. His psychic power enhanced his senses, allowing him to faintly perceive a figure moving so swiftly that it was almost a blur, heading straight towards them.
However, this perception was of no use as his body couldn't react in time.
In the face of extreme danger, his spiritual world seemed to freeze. Everything, including himself, appeared to be frozen in place. His expressions and movements were all suspended, except for the large particle bullets that continued to fly through the air, leaving trails of torn air.
The swift figure, however, navigated through the gaps between the bullets with unwavering determination. The knife, initially held in a reverse grip with the blade facing outward, now swept across the necks of the row of people, leaving a graceful arc in the air.
The air current along the knife's edge drew a perfect curve, and he could see that 'Wild Wolf' seemed to attempt a last-ditch effort to dodge. He had even started to draw his dagger from its sheath, but before he could lift his hand halfway, the blade had already passed over it.
The next moment, everything seemed to return to normal. The surroundings resumed their flow, and the Dreammaster's view suddenly flipped, as if colliding with the ground, rolling a couple of times before coming to a stop. He then heard consecutive thuds as, in his sideways vision, headless bodies fell, with a few rolling heads among them.
From the perspective of those further away, after Chen Chuan disappeared from his original position, a flash of light seemed to pass by, followed by a loud rumble. The heads of the Linaksis Federation members rolled off their necks, one by one.
This scene struck fear into the hearts of onlookers, making their hair stand on end.
But where was Chen Chuan? In pursuit of maximum attack efficiency, Chen Chuan had been advancing towards the Linaksis Federation's formation. Now, at the far end of his vision, he spotted a man in a crimson protective suit with a topknot, his eyes an unusual red. Chen Chuan instantly recognized him as 'Blood Diamond' Shaou Pu'er Sat, a member of the Spire Beings. Driven by this realization, Chen Chuan followed the direction of the force.
Blood Diamond was currently in the process of recovery. He had been severely injured by Xu Chan's psychic power, barely clinging to life. Even with the best medicine, it would take several days for him to fully recover, making it unlikely for him to return to his original combat prowess in the short term. As a result, he had remained in the rear.
As a powerful psychic, Blood Diamond could vaguely discern Chen Chuan's figure. However, to his surprise, after Chen Chuan had killed a portion of the Linaksis Federation members, he was now charging directly towards him. This sudden development startled Blood Diamond.
In a desperate attempt, Blood Diamond pushed his body to its limits, disregarding the blood gushing from his torn wound. He let out a roar and hastily grabbed the zither-shaped shield on his back, holding it in front of him. But as the snow-bright blade slashed down, a crisp 'whoosh' sounded, and the thick shield was effortlessly sliced in half. His head flew off his neck, rolling away.
Blood Diamond's headless body, driven by the continued release of energy from his mutated tissues, took a few steps forward, holding the remaining half of the shield, before collapsing to the ground with a loud thud.
This scene sent a chill down everyone's spine.
Such a swift and deadly encounter was rarely witnessed in battles between Third Limit experts. Even when a swift victory was achieved, it was typically the result of a contest of skills and techniques between the combatants. A one-sided crushing defeat like this usually indicated a vast disparity in strength between the fighters.
Although Blood Diamond wasn't among the top thirty fighters in the world, he was still within the top hundred. Even injured and making a last-ditch effort, he was not to be underestimated. Yet, Chen Chuan had effortlessly slain him with a single strike, leaving a profound impact on the onlookers.
After Chen Chuan obtained the Blood Diamond, he didn't even glance at it. Instead, he continued running forward, his body leaning to one side. From above, it was visible that he was running in a huge arc around the area where everyone was standing. He ran far away and then turned back, maintaining an incredibly high speed throughout.
Euseios Hross, with the sharpest senses among them, could track Chen Chuan's movements, unlike the others who couldn't see clearly. He shouted to Gray Whale, "Valkoni, stop him!"
Gray Whale was one of the fastest among them, possessing great strength and high defense. Despite being punched by Qi Qianyang earlier, he hadn't suffered any severe injuries.
Gray Whale heard Euseios Hross's voice and immediately grabbed his hammer, rushing towards Chen Chuan. His three-meter-tall massive body ran swiftly, and as he advanced, he felt a shadow-like swiftness, a unique effect of his powerful strength.
His charge was relentless, as if he feared nothing. It wasn't that he hadn't witnessed Chen Chuan's previous display, but precisely because of that, he knew that if he didn't stop Chen Chuan now, most of them, including himself, would die.
And if he could just halt this speed-specialized opponent, the fight would become much easier.
Chen Chuan saw Gray Whale charging towards him, but he didn't dodge. Instead, he rushed forward to meet him.
Just before Gray Whale made contact, Euseios Hross rushed from the side, knowing that Gray Whale alone might not be enough. With his additional impact, they could stop Chen Chuan.
From above, the two men's running paths formed a blunt angle, both converging towards Chen Chuan in the middle.
Chen Chuan didn't look back; he kept his eyes on Gray Whale ahead. Just before colliding, his skin grew hot, and white mist rose from his body, increasing his already incredible speed and leaving Euseios Hross behind.
Chen Chuan gripped the hilt of the Snow Queen Saber with both hands, leaning forward. Before Gray Whale could react, Chen Chuan thrust the saber, piercing his heart. With a slight exertion of his arms, he lifted Gray Whale's massive body into the air.
Then, following the saber's movement, Chen Chuan slashed diagonally, cutting the three-meter-tall Gray Whale in half. The force of the saber sent the entire body flying, and the blood and internal organs within exploded in the air.
Just then, a barrage of bullets came from the front. Chen Chuan's eyes flashed, and he lifted his saber, slashing repeatedly. The dense bullets were all deflected by the flashing saber's glow, and he saw General Seraph with a heavy machine gun on a hill, firing at him.
Although the bullets didn't harm Chen Chuan, his incredible speed slowed down. At that moment, Euseios Hross appeared behind him, his massive body casting a giant shadow as if a giant were pressing down.
Chen Chuan didn't continue his charge; instead, he stopped and, with his free hand, clenched it into a fist. He struck sideways towards Euseios Hross, and their heart forces collided in the air, their psychic powers dissolving as they drew closer.
But in the end, Euseios Hross was shocked. After his fist's glow completely dissolved, Chen Chuan's fist still retained a resilient light. It was too late for Euseios Hross to change his attack stance, and he couldn't retreat. Their fists collided.
A thunderous boom sounded as their fists met, and a cloud of dust erupted where they clashed, like an explosion. A figure flew back, landing a great distance away and rolling several times before coming to a stop.
It was Euseios Hross.
His arm was twisted beyond recognition, and half of his body from the shoulder down was shattered. Even the intact half of his body had fine cracks spreading across it, reaching his cheeks, and he lay still.
Chen Chuan stood in his attacking stance, his fist still glowing. Steam rose from his body, and even the blade of the Snow Queen Saber emitted wisps of white smoke.
Everyone watching was stunned by the scene.
Suddenly, a robust figure emerged from the river with a loud splash. As he strode forward, leaving footprints in the mud, his body seemed to grow taller.
Qi Qianyang, his body glistening with water droplets, wiped the blood from his mouth and surveyed the scene. He looked at Chen Chuan and grinned, "Our fight isn't over yet."
