Chapter 742: The Arrival
Chapter 742: The Arrival
Both sides, allies and enemies alike, were fixated on the silhouette amidst the billowing dust, marveling at the incredible speed and strength displayed by the newcomer.
They could see the trail behind this person, forcefully carved through the air, extending all the way to the distant horizon. It was evident that the individual had maintained this astonishing speed over a considerable distance.
Such a display was awe-inspiring, even for a powerful fighter in the Third Limit. Sustaining a long-distance burst of speed was a challenging feat, and the newcomer's stamina and endurance must be exceptional to dare such an energy-draining maneuver.
Whether it was the Union or the Linaksis Federation, both sides were certain that the newcomer was neither one of their own nor the anticipated Wilhelm.
With the unexpected appearance of Qi Qianyang and now this unfamiliar powerhouse, the situation had become increasingly complex, and a smooth resolution seemed unlikely.
Qi Qianyang gazed at the figure in the dust, initially surprised, but as the dust gradually cleared, the figure became clearer, and he couldn't help but show a hint of astonishment. Then, as if energized, his entire being seemed to buzz with excitement.
Amidst the swirling dust, Chen Chuan held down his wide-brimmed hat with one hand and gripped the Xuejun Dao in the other. Even though he had come to a halt, a current of energy continued to surge outward.
The heat generated by friction around him caused the surrounding air to distort slightly, and behind him, a hot current and the scent of burning permeated the forest. Numerous ignited branches and leaves spun in the air, and sparks rained down.
Chen Chuan glanced at the battlefield, not spotting Xu Chan or the others. However, he was confident that with Old Xu's experience and cunning, they wouldn't be easily eliminated.
Most of the Union's and Linaksis Federation's top fighters were present, including Qi Qianyang. It seemed that before Chen Chuan's arrival, the two sides had been engaged in a standoff.
Chen Chuan shifted his gaze to the orb in Euseios Huseios's hand, from which the glowing light had risen to the sky. But now, held in his hand, it didn't emit an overly dazzling radiance; instead, its presence seemed to diminish as it drew closer.
Waiting for the surrounding energy currents to subside, Chen Chuan adjusted his hat, his calm eyes fixed on everyone in the field.
With most of the personnel from both sides in the Fusion Zone gathered here, he wouldn't need to search for them individually.
Moreover, at this point, it was no longer about fair combat; he wouldn't underestimate these individuals. Thus, he would engage them in his unique fighting style.
On the other side, Xu Chan had already retreated into the dense forest and joined forces with Captain Hai and his team.
Captain Hai and his group hadn't truly abandoned the relic; they merely didn't want to be the hunted. So, they had been following the guide from a distance, witnessing the battle between Xu Chan and Euseios Huseios. Just as they were devising a plan to intervene, Xu Chan managed to extricate himself.
Now, they had reached a higher elevation, observing the situation and strategizing. Unexpectedly, they witnessed Chen Chuan's astonishing arrival.
Captain Lv glanced over, but the dust and distance obscured his view. Still, he noticed a fluttering red figure, reminiscent of the aerial strike and slash he had witnessed before.
Intrigued, Captain Lv asked, "Xu, is that Chen Chuan?"
Xu Chan focused his gaze, and although he couldn't see clearly, the deep gash in the forest confirmed his suspicion. "It's definitely Chen Chuan."
"This is bad!" Captain Lv sensed something amiss. "Chen Chuan must have come to support us, but he's alone down there. How can he fight against all those people? We need to find a way to assist him."
"Wait a moment," Xu Chan said, placing a hand on Captain Lv's shoulder. "Chen Chuan isn't impulsive. He always acts with certainty. There must be something we're unaware of, which is why he dared to appear so boldly before them. Let's wait a bit longer."
Captain Hai and Captain Hu agreed, reasoning that they would do the same in an unfamiliar situation. They wouldn't choose such a conspicuous entrance without understanding the circumstances.
Could it be that reinforcements had arrived from another Central City?
Xu Chan spoke in a grave tone, "Regardless of the situation on the other side, we must prepare. We can't let Chen Chuan fight alone."
In the arena, Chen Chuan, wielding the Xuejun Dao, emerged from the dissipating dust. His jade mask concealed his features, but the distinctive uniform of a Jinbei Dao Handling Bureau Investigation Supervisor was unmistakable.
General Seraph's gray eyes fixed on Chen Chuan. Before their arrival, the Handling Bureau's Wen Supervisor had been dealt with, and this individual was neither Han Supervisor nor anyone else they knew. Clearly, the newcomer was Chen Chuan, another Jinbei Dao Handling Bureau Investigation Supervisor.
Chen Chuan had reviewed the information that Chen Chuan had sent before entering the Fusion Zone, but the records seemed to differ from the strength he had just demonstrated.
He turned to glance at the Dreammaster ahead, who immediately sensed his gaze and looked over. Chen Chuan made a tactical hand signal, to which the Dreammaster nodded in response.
Qi Qianyang, upon recognizing Chen Chuan's arrival, became even more excited. His fighting spirit surged, and he raised his voice, saying, "Supervisor Chen, the relic is right here. You've come for it, haven't you? But I recall we had an unfinished sparring match. Should we settle it today or leave it for another day?"
Chen Chuan looked down and replied, "It makes no difference."
"Then let's do it today!"
At that moment, Qi Qianyang crouched down, staring intently at the ground where Chen Chuan was standing. After a brief pause, his muscles tensed, and with a loud boom, he plowed a trail of dust through the air, covering hundreds of meters in an instant.
The distance vanished in a flash, and before Chen Chuan could blink, Qi Qianyang was right in front of him. Leaping into the air, he positioned his arm behind his waist, clenching his fist tightly. A faint light glowed above his hand, leaving no doubt that the next moment would bring a powerful strike, propelled by his momentum.
Chen Chuan watched Qi Qianyang's soaring figure, his eyes like deep pools. With a shift in his thoughts, after a brief pause, he merged with the other man once again!
Chen Chuan grasped the unsheathed Snow Queen Saber with both hands. A faint light flashed along the entire scabbard, and as Qi Qianyang's figure approached, Chen Chuan suddenly swung the saber upwards, striking Qi Qianyang's side!
Qi Qianyang's arm and upper body contorted, and for a moment, they seemed frozen in place. Then, a deafening blast echoed through the air, and Qi Qianyang was sent flying, covering dozens of meters before landing in the distant river with a loud splash.
As Qi Qianyang was struck, the Linaksys personnel sprang into action. The Dreammaster, standing at a distance, fixed his gaze on Chen Chuan, and a light radiated from within him as he launched a mental assault.
Almost simultaneously, a mercenary fighter skilled in throwing, known as the Wild Wolf, also made his move. He swiftly hurled his spiked throwing knives towards Chen Chuan, while the Soldier Ant charged forward.
Among these individuals, only the Dreammaster had reached the level of psychic perception. However, he wasn't adept at direct combat, but due to his innate psychic talent, he had focused on developing this ability. He was confident that even with protective gear, his mental assault would cause a momentary distraction.
As Chen Chuan and Qi Qianyang clashed, the use of psychic power required concentration to harness the energy. This was the perfect moment for an intrusion.
Without the amplification of psychic power, even a powerful fighter skilled in Heart Force wouldn't be much different. Their body remained frail, and a single powerful strike could inflict severe damage!
Just then, two throwing knives whistled through the air, reaching Chen Chuan first. They pierced through the outermost layer of his protective gear, but as they attempted to penetrate further, they seemed to encounter resistance, twisting and deforming.
The Soldier Ant charged forward, the wind from his movement rushing towards Chen Chuan. Like with Qi Qianyang, he raised his thick, specially designed punching gloves, channeling his strength into them, causing them to swell slightly. He aimed a powerful blow at Chen Chuan's head!
But before the Soldier Ant's fists could land, the Snow Queen Saber, which had just been swung, seemed unaffected by the previous strike. With a swift motion, it was drawn back and downward, cleaving the Soldier Ant in mid-air, into two halves!
The Soldier Ant's head, protected by a helmet, separated cleanly from his body, falling to the ground with a clatter. At that moment, the two deformed knives, having been repelled, clattered to the ground.
General Seraph's gray eyes narrowed as he glanced at the Dreammaster, who shook his head, indicating that the mental assault had been ineffective.
Chen Chuan, with one hand on the Snow Queen Saber, slammed it into the ground, creating a boom. The airflow caused his protective gear to flutter, and half of the saber's blade sank into the muddy ground beneath his feet. He gripped the hilt with his other hand, slowly drawing the saber out of its scabbard at an angle.
As the saber emerged, a chilling aura spread, causing most of those present to feel a chill down their spines.
Chen Chuan gazed at the people before him, and every one of them would become nourishment for his path forward!
Just as the Snow Queen Saber fully left its scabbard, a crisp sound rang out. The spot where Chen Chuan had been standing was now just a dust-filled crater; he had vanished.
