Chapter 740: King of the Frost Giants
MastifaEuphoric bellowed, "Red Dragon! You shall be my finest Prey! This is Fate's meeting!" The centaur demon threw his upper body back, muscles bulging across his arms, veins standing out like cords beneath his skin. With full force, he drew the bowstring taut, nocking a Dragon-Slaying Arrow tipped with a spiral blade, ready to unleash.
His Profound eyes gleamed with terrifying malice, a flicker of dark red light clinging to the arrowhead—Death’s Essence.
"Spines—!"
The arrow tore through space, splitting the sky open with a thunderous crack, hurtling toward Kai Xiusu from afar.
At the moment of release, the chaotic mist surged behind it like a flood, rushing toward the sky where the Red Dragon hovered. If struck, Abyssal Power would instantly flood the wound, corrupting the dragon’s body and driving it into final, mindless frenzy.
"Come on then!" Kai Xiusu narrowed his eyes, feeling the overwhelming wave of Death energy. He opened his mouth, and from deep within his throat, a surge of Flame Light erupted.
"Boom—"
Silver fire cascaded down like a waterfall, illuminating half the sky. The Dragon-Slaying Arrow was instantly reduced to ash, and the endless Chaos Mist was swept aside.
Then, a sun slowly rose—its golden radiance spreading across the heavens, lighting up half of Avernus.
"Too hot!"
"It's the sun! That repulsive aura—how dare it appear in Hell!"
The Light of Order was blinding, radiating Divine Power Disturbance. Even the demons from the Abyss flinched at its sight, their eyes burning. Even Bair let out a hesitant exclamation: "Eternal Lord of Light?"
Mastifa instinctively lowered his head, muttering foul curses in dark tongues, his body recoiling in disgust—a natural instinct of the damned.
But Kai Xiusu seized the moment. He flared his Wings, shattering space before him and instantly closing the distance—thousands of meters vanishing in an instant as he arrived mere feet from Mastifa.
The Red Dragon surged forward, his body wreathed in Chaos Flame, scattering the Abyss’s Black Mist like dust. He broke through the barrier in a single, furious charge, rampaging directly into the centaur demon’s presence.
Mastifa lifted his head, panic flashing in his eyes. "You… you blocked my arrow… and breached the Abyss—"
"Now—" Kai Xiusu grinned fiercely, "who is the Prey?"
With a thunderous roar, he lunged forward, claws slashing through the air with a sound like shattering bone.
"Boom!"
Bone shattered. Flesh flew.
Mastifa was slammed to the ground, his head distorted, his already monstrous face twisted further into grotesque ruin. His horse-like lower half kicked wildly, thrashing in futile desperation.
Kai Xiusu had already seen through the centaur’s nature. This was a mechanism monster—a master at bullying weaker foes, capable of overwhelming a Hell Lord like Bair, who had only recently ascended and was still reeling from having a chunk of his power gnawed off by a Red Dragon. But against equals? He was outmatched.
And Kai Xiusu? He was the Union of Body and Spirit, a Numerical Monster fused with a mechanism genius.
Though he lacked the Essence of Immortality, his body was of Ancestral lineage, and his veins pulsed with plundered Semi-Divine Powers—immune to Mastifa’s Death energy.
Once the fight turned to Melee Combat, the outcome was sealed.
Even though Mastifa was larger, his bulk was merely Chaos Power layered over form. The grotesque, half-horse, half-man frame—infected by the Abyss—was ill-suited for close combat.
Kai Xiusu, meanwhile, outmatched him in Strength, Constitution, and sheer physical might. His Ancestral Dragon form was a living Fighter Jet, a force of nature.
"Roar—!"
Kai Xiusu pressed forward, pinning the fallen demon beneath him, then sank his fangs deep into the fragile neck of the centaur, tearing through muscle and sinew.
Mastifa spat black, foul blood. He fought with all his might, using his bone bow as a Death-Death weapon, pushing against Kai Xiusu’s head to prevent a killing bite.
But Kai Xiusu’s claw tore through the thick hide without mercy, plunging into the demon’s massive, Chaos Energy-filled body. His claws twisted, ripping apart the internal organs. Black-red demonic blood and twisted, mangled organs spilled out like a flood.
"Damned Crawler—!" Mastifa screamed in agony. Born from Death, he wasn’t afraid of it—but he was afraid of this.
Soon, Bair arrived above the scene.
Wounded, battered, his dark eyes still ablaze with hatred, he vowed to repay every ounce of pain the centaur had inflicted.
"Kai Xiusu, let me handle this!" Bair gripped his Infernal Sword, roaring with a surge of Aura.
Kai Xiusu glanced up, then shifted aside, exposing the centaur’s mangled chest.
Bair didn’t hesitate. With a thunderous cry, he plunged the hundred-meter-long Infernal Sword deep into the demon’s body.
"Go to Death!"
The black blade pierced through, emerging from the centaur’s back, then drove deep into the ground, splitting the earth with a massive crack.
"Boom!"
Magma erupted from below, engulfing the demon’s body. The half-horse, half-man abomination was severed at the waist. Viscera—slick with mucus—spilled out in a grotesque cascade.
But the slaughter wasn’t over.
Bair, driven by rage, hacked and slashed with terrifying ferocity, reducing the demon’s corpse to a mangled, unrecognizable mess.
"Lord Bair, Long Live!"
"Glory to the Powerful, Wise Lord of Avernus!"
"Lord Bair, this Demon was never your equal—look how he trembles at your feet!"
"With Lord Bair, how can we fail to repel the Demons and defend Avernus?"
Seeing the tide turn, the Devils began fawning, heaping all the Merit onto their lord.
Kai Xiusu, meanwhile, tore the lower half of the Abyss-Infected Stallion limb from limb, scattering the remains into a pile of putrid, stinking Meat Scraps.
"Lowly Prey… you can’t kill me!"
The severed flesh and organs, as if animated by a will of their own, surged together, reassembling into a twisted, malformed Monster.
There stood Mastifa again—horse legs, a human face, arms crudely fused—barely holding the shape of a centaur. His eyes remained Profound, now blazing with madness.
"Indeed, a being with Immutable Essence," Kai Xiusu said coldly.
He watched the creature that had humiliated him, forced him to sign a Pact, and felt a surge of contempt.
Bair gritted his teeth. "Can you truly kill it?"
"If you’re willing to pay the price, yes. But slaying an Immortality Divine Abomination? That’s no small task."
Bair frowned, silent. Inside, he cursed the Red Dragon’s greed—insatiable, shameless.
"You just need to hold him back for now," Kai Xiusu said, smiling faintly. He turned toward the North, as if sensing something. His voice dropped to a whisper: "The most Powerful Lordship… is coming."
"嗡——"
A piercing Horn Blast echoed from afar, shaking the sky. The Tanalir Frost Giants beat their weapons in unison, roaring with savage voices.
The dozen Frost Shamans raised their Scepters, murmuring prayers with solemn devotion, as if in deep Piety.
"He is The Long Night. He is Winter’s Wrath. He is Eternity. He is the New Lord who will lead the Frost Giant race to greatness. He came from the Bottomless Abyss, bringing a new home for all his people."
"Praise the King of the Frost Giants! Praise Koscherci!"
The sky over Avernus darkened instantly. Auroras danced across the heavens. A biting Cold Wind howled across the earth, and the ground rumbled as towering Ice Mountains began to rise from the depths.
For a moment, the land resembled the Far North of Eternal Night—blanketed in freezing Frost Snow, a desolate wasteland of ice and silence.
Within the Furious Storm and Snow, space began to twist and tremble. The sky cracked open like a wound, torn by a monstrous claw from the Abyss, spilling Abyssal Black Mist.
Then, from the rift, a colossal figure emerged into the sky, radiating Terrifying Pressure that spread across a hundred-mile radius.
It was a Frost Giant—over Two Hundred Meters tall. Massive, muscular, clad in Leather Armor stitched from White Dragon Skin, his waist hung with hundreds of skulls. He sat upon a Giant Ice Mountain Throne, his presence alone enough to shake the world.
The King of the Frost Giants, Lord of the Twenty-Third Layer of the Abyss, the infamous Lord of Wrath, Koscherci.
Mastifa, dragging his broken body, charged northward, laughing wildly. "Koscherci has come! That foul beast may be a disgrace—but even I must admit… he is the strongest among us! You’re done! The great Abyss will conquer this land! Prey, you are finished!"
Bair glared, but did not pursue. His face darkened. As an ancient Devil who had lived for millennia, he knew Koscherci’s true power.
"That… is a Wave of Divine Power."
Kai Xiusu spread his Wings, ascending another few hundred meters, locking eyes with the King of the Frost Giants. The expression on his Dragon Face finally hardened—serious, unwavering.
"Such a Powerful Aura of Intimidation… so this is his True Form."
This was no mere Semi-God Level being. He was one of the most feared Demon Lords in the Bottomless Abyss.
He had his own Church, his own followers. He had conquered entire Material Planes, swallowed half of the Pastgiant Empire’s Half-Plane, and devoured it into the Abyss.
In the Blood War, his record was legendary—multiple assaults on Avernus, though he had once been defeated by Zaril, who had tricked him into losing his weapons.
Now, upon hearing of Zaril’s demise, Koscherci had summoned his Abyssal Legion without hesitation—declaring war.
Kai Xiusu studied the True Form of the Frost Giant. His gaze grew heavier.
A being over Two Hundred Meters tall—not a sham of Chaos Energy, but a true, living body of Immortal Bloodline. This was staggering—enough to qualify as a Supreme Beast even in the Stellar Realm.
If such a being appeared in the Prime Material Plane, the Realm Will would instantly banish it.
Koscherci’s muscles were knotted like ancient trees, every vein and fiber pulsing with unimaginable strength. Even in a Melee Combat against a normal opponent, Kai Xiusu—despite his Ancestral Dragon form—would have little chance.
And beneath the Frost Giant’s massive frame, Kai Xiusu sensed not just Abyssal Chaos, but also a presence akin to Solem—Immortal Divine Power, capable of freezing everything in its path.
"Truly terrifying," Kai Xiusu murmured.
He had fought Dumason, Ghuush, and other Divine Manifestations before. But those were hollow shells—Divine Power filled with false essence, bound by the Laws of the Multiverse. They were like Elementary School students forced onto a Junior High Entrance Exam level, easily crushed by a cheating genius like Kai Xiusu.
Deity was Deity—a being beyond mortals, beyond all law.
Had Kai Xiusu met Ghuush in the Outer Plane, he would have been killed in an instant, his life snuffed out before he could even react.
But now? This was the first time he faced a Deity-level existence—in its True Form.
On the Ice Mountain Throne, Koscherci smirked. "Tch. Mastifa and Ishinix—two useless fools. Both defeated by you. Good. Saves me the trouble of dealing with them after I conquer Avernus."
Mastifa roared in fury, whirling around. "Koscherci! You promised me a third of Avernus after the war!"
Koscherci’s voice was ice. "Look at you—can you negotiate like this? The Great Abyssal Will doesn’t honor promises."
He locked eyes with the centaur, a chilling smile spreading across his face. "Besides… I’ve already sent my Army to the Seventeenth Ninety-First Layer of the Abyss. That realm will soon belong to me."
"You—you dare—?" Mastifa trembled violently, screaming in horror. "I’m going back to the Bottomless Abyss! I’ll hunt every last Frost Giant!"
Koscherci’s gaze remained cold. "You can’t go back."
"What?!" Mastifa stared up, eyes wide with panic—only to feel an unbearable cold surge through him, freezing him solid in an instant.
His face still held shock, rage, but was now encased in an Extremely Thick Ice Layer, as if preserved for ten thousand years.
Kai Xiusu and Bair both froze, breath catching in their throats.
Mastifa—though grievously wounded—was still a Lord of the Abyss. And yet, he had been frozen in place—without effort.
Was this the Strength of the King of the Frost Giants?
Koscherci finally lifted his head, his gaze piercing through the storm, locking onto the Red Dragon in the distance.
His voice roared like a Howling Wind.
"Kai Xiusu! I said—when my True Body manifests… that is your Death! Now… I claim that promise."
