Chapter 74: Implants
Chapter 74: Implants
Just as Wei Chang'an and his group were about to take action, Chen Chuan also stepped out of the grain and oil shop, glancing towards the direction of the Trade Market. He noticed two groups of people fighting, seemingly a conflict between a stall owner and a customer, with several nearby stall owners joining in to help. However, the crowd of onlookers was growing, making it difficult to discern the exact situation.
Cai Sai spoke a few words to the shop owner, who nodded and called over an assistant to check on the situation at the back.
Chen Chuan turned back to look at the building, and just then, he suddenly saw someone leap out of a fourth-floor window. But in mid-air, they grabbed the windowsill with their backhand, let go, and landed on the ground with a roll to dissipate the force before standing up. They then sprinted towards the street where Wei Chang'an and his group were, moving at an incredibly fast speed.
"It's the fast-legged Tian Yaozu!"
Cai Sai also spotted this person. He immediately said, "Junior Brother, I'll go ahead and block him. You stay behind and keep an eye out to ensure he doesn't slip past." As he spoke, he rushed forward and simultaneously untied a modified belt from his waist.
Chen Chuan followed his instructions and stood behind, blocking the way.
Upon seeing someone blocking his path, Tian Yaozu immediately drew a dagger from his waist and charged towards Cai Sai.
Cai Sai swung the belt towards Tian Yaozu's hand, causing him to retract his hand instinctively and lower his head. A force grazed over his head, and he felt something was amiss, so he retreated again. The belt's tip just grazed past his knee, almost hitting him.
Tian Yaozu was startled and took several steps back, glaring angrily at Cai Sai. He saw Cai Sai pulling the belt with both hands, causing it to make a taut sound, while Cai Sai looked at him with a calm expression.
Chen Chuan, watching from behind, witnessed Cai Sai's impressive fast whip technique. If not for Tian Yaozu's incredibly fast retreat, he would have been struck and knocked down. Tian Yaozu lived up to his reputation for speed, but it was just a belt; if it had been a whip, Tian Yaozu would have had nowhere to escape.
After forcing Tian Yaozu back, Cai Sai didn't approach but maintained a certain distance, ensuring his belt was longer than Tian Yaozu's. As long as he controlled the distance, Tian Yaozu couldn't reach him.
At this moment, Tian Yaozu was in a hurry because he didn't know how many people were involved in their capture, and the longer he stayed in one place, the more dangerous it became. He glared at Cai Sai for a moment, then his face contorted with determination, and he charged forward, raising his hand to block. The belt instantly struck him, tearing his clothes and ripping open his arm.
The belt's non-lethal nature became apparent, and Tian Yaozu managed to close the distance after enduring the strike. Cai Sai frowned but didn't engage in a direct confrontation. Instead, he sidestepped, allowing Tian Yaozu to rush past like a gust of wind, covering seven or eight meters in the blink of an eye. Cai Sai quickly warned Chen Chuan, "Be careful, Junior Brother!"
He remembered Wei Chang'an's words about Chen Chuan being no ordinary junior brother, someone he could trust in critical moments. So, he chose to hold back.
As Tian Yaozu charged towards him, Chen Chuan stood his ground, hands empty. Tian Yaozu, seeing him blocking the center of the road, gained courage and roared, simultaneously thrusting five or six dagger strikes towards Chen Chuan as he advanced.
However, Chen Chuan's footwork was incredibly swift, and he accurately dodged each strike. With every step Tian Yaozu took, Chen Chuan retreated, matching his opponent's pace. The distance between them seemed unchanged, and at this moment, Tian Yaozu's breathing momentarily stalled.
Chen Chuan had been waiting for this moment. He reached out and grabbed Tian Yaozu's wrist with pinpoint precision.
Normally, even grabbing an opponent's weapon-wielding hand would be extremely dangerous, possibly resulting in a counter-slash to the wrist. But at the moment of contact, a force from his transmuted organs permeated Tian Yaozu's body, causing him to go numb.
Chen Chuan gently shook Tian Yaozu's arm, and a faint cracking sound emanated from his arm. In that instant, Tian Yaozu's wrist, elbow, and shoulder bones were all dislocated by Chen Chuan.
Cai Sai exclaimed, "Python Body Technique!"
Chen Chuan then pulled Tian Yaozu's arm, dragging him over, and struck him with an elbow to the heart. Tian Yaozu groaned in pain, knelt down, and leaned forward, his forehead touching the ground as he writhed.
Cai Sai quickly stepped forward, stomped on Tian Yaozu's head, handcuffed him, and secured him with the belt. He then lifted his head, beaming with delight, and said, "Well done, Junior Brother! Tian Yaozu's speed is exceptional. If it were just me, it wouldn't have been this easy to stop him."
Cai Sai had a clear view of Chen Chuan's agile dodges, almost as if he was moving in sync with Tian Yaozu's footsteps, a feat achievable only by being significantly faster than one's opponent. Moreover, Chen Chuan's courage in facing deadly weapons set him apart from most students at the academy, explaining Wei Chang'an's high regard for this junior brother.
The loud rumbling sound startled Wei Chang'an and Cai Sai, drawing their attention to a massive hole in the wall on the fourth floor of a nearby building. A figure emerged from the hole, performing a mid-air somersault before gracefully extending their body. With one hand, they hooked the window sill, swinging back and forth before letting go, executing a series of rolls upon landing, and standing up unscathed—it was indeed Wei Chang'an.
However, he looked a bit disheveled at the moment, covered in dust and dirt, and his clothes were torn in several places.
Cai Sai noticed a tall figure behind the hole, and his voice carried a sense of gravity as he exclaimed, "Scarface!"
Chen Chuan also spotted the man, dressed in a gray-blue work uniform, holding a large cleaver that was broken halfway through, and a construction hammer in the other hand. A scar ran from his forehead to the corner of his mouth, resembling a menacing centipede. The man appeared to be over two meters tall, but his body seemed oddly disproportionate.
As they watched, Scarface glanced forward, took a stride, and smashed through the wall blocking his path. He leaped straight down from the fourth floor, landing with a loud thud, causing the concrete beneath his feet to crack. Astonishingly, he seemed unaffected, merely bending his knees slightly before straightening up again.
Wei Chang'an, having retreated to a safe distance, shouted at the person on the rooftop, "Inform the boxing gym! Ask them to stop people from getting too close to this area!"
Scarface acknowledged and immediately retreated.
Wei Chang'an addressed Scarface, "You won't escape today. Don't put up a futile resistance."
Scarface ignored him, gripping his weapon tightly and advancing.
At that moment, footsteps echoed from all around as the team previously positioned in the south converged. Cai Sai noticed a crowd gathering from the direction of the Trade Market, eager to witness the spectacle. Despite the efforts to block them, they couldn't hold back the curious onlookers. Cai Sai and Chen Chuan exchanged a glance, and Cai Sai rushed to the rear to address the crowd.
Chen Chuan remained in place, his gaze fixed on Scarface's body.
Cai Sai shouted at the approaching crowd, "Patrol Bureau is handling the case! Move back, move back!" The mention of the Patrol Bureau was intimidating enough to make most people retreat, except for a middle-aged woman who continued to push forward, seemingly oblivious to the warnings.
Cai Sai frowned and approached her, "Didn't you hear...?" Before he could finish his sentence, the woman kicked up her skirt and aimed a kick at his ankle. Cai Sai reacted swiftly, lifting his leg to dodge the kick, but the woman raised her hand, scattering a cloud of flour into his face.
Caught off guard, Cai Sai closed his eyes, but some flour still managed to get into his eyes. Remaining calm, he covered his throat with one hand and protected his lower body with the other. Simultaneously, he felt a powerful kick aimed at his groin, but something also pricked his hand. Instead of retreating, he lunged forward, colliding with the woman.
Surprised by his sudden move, the woman's body was thrown off-balance. She tried to counter by extending two fingers from her hand, aiming to pierce his abdomen with her sharp nails. With enough force, she could have disemboweled him. However, as she stabbed, she encountered resistance, and her expression changed as she realized, "A stab-proof vest?"
Although they didn't have firearms licenses for this operation, the team couldn't wear bulletproof vests. However, acquiring a few stab-proof vests was feasible.
Seizing the opportunity, Cai Sai grabbed the woman with both hands, pulling her into a tight embrace. He exerted a powerful constricting force, and the sound of cracking bones filled the air. When he released her, the middle-aged woman lay on the ground, seemingly devoid of any bone support.
The onlookers, witnessing this scene, retreated in fear, forming a wide circle around them.
In the distance, Scarface continued his bold advance, seemingly unconcerned by the growing encirclement.
Suddenly, a series of loud cracks and pops echoed as the firecrackers, originally meant for the boxing gym, were set off. Although it seemed too late, this was the moment Wei Chang'an had been waiting for. He drew a Type 15 handgun from his pocket and fired four shots at Scarface's legs!
The bullets tore through Scarface's work pants, causing him to stumble for a moment. But he quickly regained his balance, and beneath the torn fabric, a thick layer of black Kevlar became visible.
Wei Chang'an's face turned solemn as he recognized what he was dealing with, "Military implants!"
