Chapter 739: Rise of the Dark Lord
Chapter 739: Rise of the Dark Lord
Ivan's heart was clouded with a sense of foreboding. Though he appeared to be the most powerful wizard in the Wizarding World, basking in the glory of his newfound title, he felt anything but happy.
He knew all too well that it was just a facade created by the Protection Mode, a thin veneer that could shatter at any moment. He had no idea how long it would take for Voldemort to see through it.
If Voldemort sensed something amiss and decided to test him again soon, Ivan would be completely at a loss...
The thought gave him a headache.
At his current level of magic, achieving a significant breakthrough was far from easy. He had been hoping to use the Legendary Points he had finally gathered to fuse another bloodline and boost his strength, but Voldemort's sudden appearance had completely derailed his plans.
The only silver lining was that the Legendary Title he earned from the battle had replenished some of his Legendary Points. He now needed just two more points to complete his goal.
Ivan took a sip of his tea and opened the System's task list, hoping to find a task he could complete in the near future.
"Explore Hogwarts", "House-Elf Savior (Form a House-Elf Army)", "Dark Minions (Acquire a Dementor Army)..."
Scanning through the incomplete tasks, Ivan found himself at a loss. None of these tasks seemed achievable in the short term.
First, exploring Hogwarts to 100% completion seemed nearly impossible. The ancient castle was shrouded in mystery, hiding countless secrets that even Dumbledore, the current headmaster, couldn't fully unravel, let alone himself.
The House-Elf Savior task was also out of reach for now. He would need to wait until after Dumbledore's death and secure the position of headmaster of Hogwarts before he could even consider it.
The only task that held some promise was the Dark Minions mission, which required the allegiance of one hundred Dementors. A trip to Azkaban could do the trick, and he had similar plans in mind.
However, convincing these mindless Dementors to join him was a daunting challenge.
As Ivan pondered, he stumbled upon a new task that had appeared on the list, likely activated during the achievement he earned last night.
Rise of the Dark Lord
Mission Objective: Rule the British Wizarding World
Mission Progress: 17%
Legendary Points: 4
Mission Description: After successfully defeating Voldemort, you realize you are unmatched in the world and have no further concerns. Your next target is the British Wizarding World, where you plan to establish a new order.
Note: Your ambitions extend far beyond this. A sinister plan is already forming in your mind...
Staring at the System's task list, Ivan was left speechless, spitting out his tea and drenching Dobby. His mind raced with a single thought.
This damn System must be malfunctioning!
Others might not know the truth, but his status bar clearly showed his true capabilities. How on earth did the System determine that he was already the undisputed master of the world?
Not to mention, he hadn't even thought of... no, there was no evil plan to rule the Wizarding World at all...
Ivan kept muttering to himself in his mind.
Dobby, who had been drenched in tea, was momentarily stunned before suddenly screeching and repeatedly hitting his head with the broom, shouting,
"Bad Dobby... bad elf!"
"Don't do that, Dobby, what are you doing?" Ivan was startled and quickly snapped back to reality, snatching the broom from the house-elf's hands, puzzled and concerned.
"Dobby couldn't take care of master... Dobby must punish himself." Dobby looked terrified, his large, bulbous eyes brimming with tears, his nose twitching. He believed that Ivan must have been dissatisfied with the tea he prepared, which is why it ended up on him.
The twisted logic of the house-elf left Ivan somewhat amused and exasperated, "It's not your fault, Dobby. I just thought of something funny. If anything, I should be the one apologizing..."
Just as Ivan was trying to comfort Dobby, the living room door opened, and Asia, who had been out, walked in.
"What's going on, Ivan? Did something happen while I was gone?"
Asia saw Dobby hanging his head, looking like he had done something wrong, while Ivan was patiently squatting beside him with a helpless expression.
"No, nothing serious. Dobby just got a bit overexcited", Ivan shook his head and explained casually.
"House-elves are like that. It's a habit they've formed over the years, and it's not easy to change", Asia sighed.
When Dobby first arrived, he took over all the household chores, working tirelessly day and night, even scrubbing the floors multiple times a day until they were spotless.
Asia had tried to reduce Dobby's workload, but every time she mentioned it, the house-elf would panic and punish himself with whatever he could find. Eventually, she gave up on the idea.
"By the way, Mom, how are the things I arranged last night? Has Fenrir taken care of everything? Are the Wizards in Knockturn Alley behaving themselves? Has anyone caused trouble?" Ivan didn't dwell on Dobby's behavior and quickly got to the point.
Asia didn't hide anything and promptly recounted the events of the morning.
The destruction caused by the battle was so severe that even after half a day of repairs, the damage couldn't be completely erased. A hundred-meter-long gash still marred the square.
The Wizards from Knockturn Alley were thoroughly frightened yesterday and were now behaving themselves, with many of them even volunteering to join their ranks and become Aurors.
"Actually, we do need more people. Otherwise, when we take over the Ministry of Magic, managing everything with just forty-odd Wizards will be impossible", Asia added.
"Right, let's do it that way", Ivan nodded in agreement.
While they could recruit some Aurors to work for them, they weren't entirely reliable. It would be more reassuring to train their own Wizards.
Somehow, Ivan felt something was off.
Wait... when did I say we were going to attack the Ministry of Magic?
Before Ivan could voice his question, Asia took out a newspaper from her Wizard Robes and placed it in front of him, speaking solemnly.
"This is today's Daily Prophet. You should take a look..."
