Chapter 736: Sixty-Second Duel of Life and Death!
Chapter 736: Sixty-Second Duel of Life and Death!
A sixty-second countdown appeared in the System Bar. Ivan wasted no time. The moment the thought of defeating Voldemort crossed his mind, he vanished from his spot, leaving behind only a single sentence.
"You shouldn't have come here today, Tom!"
As Ivan spoke, a sudden sense of urgency surged in Voldemort's mind. He turned his head sharply, and the familiar figure was already beside him.
Ivan's left hand formed a fist, and in just half a second, his originally pale and slender arm swelled into a menacing Dragon Claw, aiming directly at Voldemort's face.
In Protection Mode, such partial Transformations could be completed almost instantly.
Voldemort's pupils constricted. Ivan's speed was faster than he had anticipated. Attempting to cast a counterattack now would be too late, and resisting the blow head-on would be extremely foolish.
So Voldemort instinctively used Apparition, his form flickering in mid-air before quickly recondensing.
It was then that Voldemort realized the surrounding space was filled with abnormally active Magic, making it several times more difficult to perform Teleportation...
In the split second it took for Ivan's fist to connect with Voldemort's snake-like face, Voldemort managed to use Bloodline Magic to transform part of his body into Dark Fog. He was blasted backward, tumbling into an abandoned house several meters away.
Ivan, not letting up, vanished from his spot and reappeared inside the abandoned house. The place was dim, but with Magic's aid, everything was visible.
A serpent as thick as a bucket was coiled on a beam. The moment it sensed Ivan's presence, it lunged at him with its gaping maw.
Ivan raised his empty left hand and casually moved it through the air. Without incantations, several invisible Magic threads appeared, instantly dismembering the terrifying serpent into several segments.
Blood and flesh rained down, but before they could touch Ivan, they quickly transformed into numerous stones, large and small, burning with intense flames. These Firestones hovered in the air and sped toward Voldemort's hiding place at an unimaginable speed.
Each Firestone was like a cannonball, exploding upon impact with obstacles.
Flames and explosions echoed throughout the house, and within three seconds, half of the abandoned building was reduced to rubble.
A moment later, Voldemort emerged from the flames, half of his body still in the form of Dark Fog. Apart from a swollen face and a slightly skewed mouth, he seemed to have suffered little damage.
Ivan's brow furrowed. It appeared that Voldemort's survival abilities were even more terrifying than he had imagined. He was certain his two attacks had landed solidly, but the effects were minimal.
Such conventional methods were ineffective against a man who could transform into Dark Fog at will.
More critically, the intelligence from their last battle had been leaked, and Voldemort was now on guard against Ivan's Serpent's Eye. Relying on Bloodline Magic for a surprise attack would be far more difficult this time.
"You're dead!"
Voldemort's anger reached its peak. Fiendfyre rose from the cracks in the old floor, surrounding him to prevent Ivan from getting any closer. With a fierce wave of his right hand, he shouted.
"Avada Kedavra ~ (Avada Kedavra)"
A green beam as thick as an arm flashed through the air, carrying Voldemort's lethal intent, its power unimaginable.
But Ivan effortlessly dodged, his body moving with the agility granted by Protection Mode. Within a hundred meters of his presence, everything was under his control, and using Apparition was as natural as breathing.
The green beam missed and struck the wall behind, blasting a massive crater.
By this time, Ivan had already appeared just a short distance in front of Voldemort. With a flick of his wand, a red beam shot out, its force even more formidable than the previous Killing Curse.
Voldemort's scalp tingled, and a rare look of panic appeared on his snake-like face. He conjured a sturdy silver shield in front of him, but the red beam shattered it instantly.
Before he could catch his breath, another beam hit him, and he barely managed to block it, though the spell's backlash left him disheveled and dirty.
Being repeatedly suppressed by a mere youth was driving Voldemort to the brink of fury. He waved his wand continuously, casting one powerful Dark Magic spell after another, but Ivan deflected them with ease.
"Impossible... This can't be!" As Ivan drew closer, Voldemort's voice trembled, more from confusion than fear.
In his memory, this young wizard, though exceptionally talented and already surpassing many adult wizards before graduation, was still far from his own level of power.
If Ivan were truly this strong, he wouldn't have been able to escape that night a few days ago...
Voldemort even began to suspect that this young wizard might be Dumbledore in disguise, having taken a Polyjuice Potion.
No, not even Dumbledore could suppress him so easily!
"Confused, Tom?" Half a minute had already passed, and Ivan was growing increasingly anxious, but his face remained calm and arrogant.
He continued to wave his wand, summoning a Unicorn Shadow to complement his attacks, while using his words to unsettle Voldemort's mind.
"This was supposed to be a surprise for Dumbledore, but you blundered into it, ruining my plans..."
"What a shame. If word gets out that I killed you today, Dumbledore will surely be on guard... You see, that old man is far more formidable than you, a mere waste of magic", Ivan said with a sinister smile, his face partially covered by Crimson Dragon Scales, giving him an evil aura.
Voldemort transformed into a mist to evade the two spell beams heading his way, his heart sinking as the puzzle pieces finally fell into place.
From Ivan's actions in Knockturn Alley, Voldemort realized that this young wizard was not the kind-hearted and upright individual he had known from Sirius Black's memories. Instead, he was a thoroughgoing opportunist!
Ivan had been holding back a significant portion of his strength, and the third type of Bloodline Magic he possessed was incredibly powerful. Beyond the Dragon Scales that emerged on his body, he could generate an Aura spanning a hundred meters, significantly enhancing his combat capabilities within that range.
With such a trump card, if he could gain Dumbledore's trust, assassinating the most powerful wizard in the Wizarding World would be as easy as pie...
