Chapter 735: The Legacy
Chapter 735: The Legacy
"Why?"
DD, in his standard Conan pose, knelt on the ground, and the cards in the Duel Disk scattered with a rustle, as if they were cursed.
"I even summoned Blood Demon D," he muttered to himself, "I've already sold my soul, why can't I still win?"
"Does this mean I'm not the strongest?"
"No, I'm not!"
His expression suddenly contorted, and he let out a painful cry.
The Blood Demon D card fell to the ground, but the bottom of the card revealed a dazzling white light. The white light danced ferociously in the air, transforming into a monstrous form with claws, wielding a dragon-headed weapon, and behind it, a pair of bone wings slowly formed, vaguely resembling Blood Demon D's posture.
It bared its fangs, roaring madly, disregarding everything, as if filled with hatred for the world and a thirst to devour all things.
Ed watched the Blood Demon D, the monster he had pursued for his entire life, and his heart rose with fear and sorrow as he witnessed the terrifying demon, seemingly cursed in its appearance.
"This is my father's life's masterpiece, his final card," Ed murmured, "Is this the monster he created?"
"No, Ed."
You Xuan's voice rang out, and Ed looked at him questioningly.
You Xuan approached and patted him on the shoulder.
"That's not the card your father left behind. It's just a usurper that took his power. But don't worry, it's just an empty threat, a paper tiger."
The Blood Demon D, transformed by Annihilation Light, roared in fury, and the dragon head in its hand transformed into a cloud of blood, roaring as it flew towards You Xuan.
But You Xuan didn't react, not even blinking, remaining calm.
A flash of blade light appeared.
The Chaos Warrior's sword was unsheathed. The Chaos Blade Aura seemed to roar, slicing the blood-colored, turbulent dragon head into pieces. And without stopping, the blade continued its relentless assault, slicing through the Blood Demon D with the force of breaking bamboo.
The Blood Demon D roared in anger but couldn't stop its body from being cut in two by the blade light. The ruptured body quickly disintegrated, transforming back into the form of white light. The light then briefly condensed into a terrifying giant face, like an unwilling demon screaming in rage, before completely dissipating.
After the white light dispersed, DD's eyes lost their glow, as if his soul had been drawn out, staring blankly as he fell to the ground motionless.
"Is it over?"
Ed still felt a bit dazed.
But he had truly felt the power of that sword. He had never seen such a strong elemental power before, not just the extraordinary power of the elements, but also the extraordinary strength displayed by the Chaos Warrior during the Duel.
Just like the Duel King's ace, "Black Magician," although it appeared to be just an ordinary card, its related magic and traps, along with the constantly emerging new forms and evolutions, all represented the potential of the monster.
And the Chaos Warrior, at least in Ed's eyes, had demonstrated abilities in this Duel that were already at the level of the current Duel Monster world champions.
Was this the power of the Duel King's ace?
Ed was momentarily lost in thought, but he quickly gathered himself. He didn't have time to ponder these things right now.
You Xuan stepped forward and picked up the search for the Blood Demon D card that had fallen to the ground.
Ed's heart tightened.
In that Duel, he had indeed seen the sealed figure of his father within the Blood Demon D.
Was it an illusion?
But his father had clearly spoken to him and revealed information about Annihilation Light.
If it's an illusion, it's too real to be one.
So now that the evil force has been slashed by the Chaos Warrior, what about my father?
Is he dead?
Deep down, Adel knew that his father had passed away many years ago. The soul trapped within Demon D was merely a lingering spirit unable to find peace. Yet, at this moment, You Xuan approached him.
You Xuan extended his hand, holding out the card.
Adel was stunned.
"I believe this belongs to you," You Xuan said, "The most important card your father left behind, along with his soul, I presume."
Adel blinked twice.
After a moment, his pupils slowly contracted, and his eyes widened involuntarily.
"Are you saying he...?"
You Xuan replied, "You just saw him and spoke to him, didn't you? Of course, his soul is still within this card. Although he's in a bound state, I have access to the world's top laboratories and the full support of the Kaiba Corporation and the International Fantasy Society. I have both scientific and supernatural resources at my disposal."
"I believe it's possible to free Mr. Phoenix from the curse of this card."
Adel's eyes widened.
For the past ten years, since the moment his father died, time had stood still for him, frozen in darkness. Seeking the truth and revenge had been his greatest goal, but even this ultimate objective was shrouded in darkness.
This might be the first glimmer of hope he had seen in a decade.

However, this hope was too good to be true, too fantastical, that he almost didn't dare to believe it. It was like a dream bubble that he was afraid to approach, fearing that it would burst at the slightest touch.
Could he really believe it?
Could he really see his father again, beyond the realm of dreams?
"Of course, I'm not certain about the difficulty of this undertaking, but I believe it's worth the effort to try."
You Xuan paused, glancing at the Destiny Hero Demon D lying on the ground, his fate unknown.
"Also, I believe this guy has only shown a fraction of Demon D's power, and this card hides even greater secrets and potential. There's much to explore and discover, all part of the precious legacy your father left for this world, something we should cherish and develop."
Hearing this, Adel's expression darkened.
"The most precious legacy of my father?"
"What's wrong?"
"No, it's nothing. Just..."
Adel hesitated for a moment, then continued.
"It's just that this card not only took my father's life but has also brought nothing but curses and disasters since then. I don't know how many people have suffered because of it."
"That's Annihilation Light."
You Xuan interrupted him.
"The card's spirit is innocent, or rather, it's also a victim. Do you really want to attribute all the actions of a mad force from the universe to your father's legacy, his final effort?"
"Or, from now on, use this card to do what's right, to prove that the fault lies not with the card but with the evil person with malicious intent?"
Adel's eyes flickered, his heart stirred with tumultuous emotions.
"Now, my laboratory presents such an opportunity, and I only lack a key personnel. So, the question now is..."
You Xuan once again held out the Demon D card to Adel.
"Will you come?"
Adel took a deep breath.
He knew he had made his decision.
