Chapter 732: Knockturn Alley Needs Order!
Chapter 732: Knockturn Alley Needs Order!
As time was running out, Ivan's heart sank to the bottom of his stomach.
He had made so many preparations today, rounding up all the Wizards in Knockturn Alley in one fell swoop. If he could succeed in one go, that would be fine, but if he failed, the consequences would be severe.
Fortunately, Ivan let out a slight sigh of relief when, with only ten seconds left, a hand slowly rose.
The hesitant Wizards turned their heads to look, and the person raising his hand was Mark.
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Mark did not waver. He stared intently at Ivan on the magic podium, then glanced at his nine-year-old son who had been caught with him, and finally sighed.
"Perhaps you are right; Knockturn Alley needs order... I don't want what happened that day to happen again..."
Mark's heartfelt words moved the Wizards present.
However, dissenting voices quickly arose.
"Who knows if he's telling the truth?"
"He has no reason to lie to us..." Mark pointed to the Aurors gathered around, reminding them. "Don't forget, we never had a choice from the start."
Mark's meaning was clear: the situation was beyond their control, and even if Ivan had ulterior motives, they had no way out.
After a moment of silence, more and more Wizards raised their hands, and those who had initially opposed the idea had no choice but to concede.
Before long, everyone in the crowd raised their hands in agreement, and Ivan's heart, which had been on edge, finally relaxed. Although the one-minute deadline had long passed, he had at least achieved his desired outcome.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that the task completion notification had not yet sounded. Ivan's mind flickered, and he opened the mission panel to check. The mission progress for Clean Up Knockturn Alley had already increased to ninety-seven percent...
Why is there still three percent left? Did I miss something?
Ivan's brow furrowed as he looked at the raised hands. Suddenly, he realized something, and his brow smoothed out. He took a few steps forward, a smile returning to his face, and he opened his arms to speak.
"I am glad that everyone has made the right decision!"
"We are all Wizards living in this Forgotten Land, suffering from hunger and hardship. Now, we share the same belief and should unite, like brothers and sisters..."
"But allow me to add one more thing..." Ivan's smile faded slightly, and his tone became sharper. "Some of you do not deserve to stand with us!"
"They are bullies who prey on the weak, murderers, plunderers, and the ones who bring us pain, making our lives worse day by day... They are not friends, but our enemies!"
Ivan paced on the magic podium, his eagle-like eyes scanning the Wizards whose faces had suddenly changed. Then, he grinned. "I understand the resentment and pain in each of your hearts, and I allow you to vent it now—push those bullies to the front, let them face judgment. This is the first thing I will do for you!"
As soon as he spoke, the orderly square erupted into chaos. An elderly Witch shrieked.
"What a joke? Don't be fooled by him; he just wants to divide and enslave us!"
"We have over a hundred people here. Why don't we just charge out? Do they dare to kill us all?" Several other Wizards echoed her words fiercely.
However, Ivan completely ignored their words. With a quick Sonorus Charm on himself, he shouted loudly to the crowd below.
"Let's get started! Let's rebuild the order!"
Ivan's words were like a switch being flipped. The usually timid and submissive commoners suddenly showed fierce expressions, their long-suppressed anger finally ignited. Their eyes all turned to the Wizards who had tried to incite chaos.
"What do you think you're doing?" a Dark Wizard demanded, his voice harsh. Instinctively, he reached for the wand hanging at his waist, only to find it missing.
Only then did he remember that the hateful Aurors had already taken his wand, and even the Dark Magic Objects he had hidden in his pockets were gone, taken while he was unconscious.
Now, with nothing but his fists, he had no means to resist the angry mob. He could only watch helplessly as a dozen enraged Wizards pounced on him and the others, knocking them to the ground.
The noise and chaos lasted about five minutes. Dozens of Wizards were quickly kicked out, their faces bruised and swollen, clearly having taken a beating.
The last Wizard to be pushed out was in a particularly pitiful state, his body covered in bruises. However, he unexpectedly crawled up to the magic podium, trembling as he fell before Ivan, sobbing and pleading that he was being framed and wronged.
Ivan looked down at the Wizard with a cold expression. "Jamie Davis?"
"Lord Hals, you know me?" Jamie's heart sank.
"Of course I do", Ivan said with a mocking tone. "Twenty-one years ago, you graduated from Hogwarts. Before that, you lived in the Wizarding World by selling counterfeit goods. Fourteen years ago, you killed an Auror who exposed you and fled to Knockturn Alley, where you became a habitual thief and plunderer. Am I right?"
Jamie's pupils contracted as he looked at Ivan with fear. It made sense that Ivan knew about his thieving, but the fact that he knew about the Auror he had killed was a secret no one else was supposed to know.
He couldn't understand how Ivan had found out.
But Jamie didn't have time to think about it. The fear on his face gradually turned to a twisted expression. He had known from the start that Ivan wouldn't let him off easily, and the surrounding Aurors had cut off any escape route.
His only chance for survival was to take hostage the young Wizard in front of him, and now was the best opportunity!
Excitement surged through him. Jamie knew that at such close range, the Aurors couldn't provide any support, and the Wizard he was about to attack wouldn't have time to draw his wand!
In an instant, Jamie jumped up from the ground and lunged at Ivan, his right hand extended, aiming for Ivan's neck.
But to Jamie's surprise, Ivan didn't flinch at all. He remained calm, almost frighteningly so.
Thanks to Legilimency, Ivan had already seen through Jamie's thoughts. So when faced with this "sudden" attack, Ivan only sneered and spat out a few words.
"Pointless!"
