Chapter 732: Galuna Island
Chapter 732: Galuna Island
On the shores of Galuna Island, Aquarius, the Water Bearer spirit, hovered over the ocean. With her water pitcher, she scooped up a portion of the seawater, causing the nearby waters to roar and transform into a towering tsunami. It rushed towards the shore, engulfing two figures locked in a fierce battle—Lucy and a rose-haired girl, both screaming as they were struck by Aquarius' watery assault.
The torrent of water washed over them, tossing and turning them like laundry in a washing machine before finally depositing them on the shore.
Lucy staggered to her feet, still dizzy and disoriented. Her eyes swam with vertigo as she swayed unsteadily and muttered, "Whether friend or foe, Aquarius always greets us with her waves."
Shirley responded, "So that's how it is... You got me good with that move, but you still haven't taken me down."
"Haven't I won already?" Lucy asked.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Shirley retorted. "You can't even stand straight yourself."
Both girls were too dazed to cast any magic, but they lunged at each other anyway, grappling clumsily. Eventually, Lucy's experience with being buffeted by Aquarius' waves paid off, and she recovered from her dizziness first. She landed a blow that sent Shirley toppling to the ground.
Shirley lay there, powerless, and said, "I actually lost... Ah... Angelica, avenge me..."
"Swoosh!"
As Shirley's words trailed off, a massive rat leaped into the air, charging towards Lucy. It was Shirley's pet.
Lucy's eyes widened in panic at the sight of the enormous rat bearing down on her. She tried to run and dodge, but her body wobbled, and she ended up on her knees, unable to move. The battle with Shirley had exhausted her magic and left her completely drained.
"Oh no, I can't move..." Lucy's eyes reflected her growing fear.
The giant rat's eyes gleamed with ferocity as it prepared to shred Lucy to pieces with its massive claws.
But just as its enormous paw was about to make contact with Lucy's body, a white glow suddenly emanated from Lucy's form.
This radiant light forcefully halted Angelica's pounce, holding her massive body at bay and preventing her claws from reaching Lucy! Then, the white glow intensified, materializing into a visible hand that curled its index finger and flicked it at Angelica.
"Boom!"
The gigantic rat let out a pitiful cry as its body was flung away like a crumpled piece of paper, tearing through the sky and vanishing into the horizon.
"W-What was that...?" Lucy stared at the scene in astonishment, her chest heaving as traces of fear still lingered in her eyes. She couldn't comprehend what had just transpired.
Just as she stood there, filled with uncertainty, a slightly cold voice reached her from a short distance away.
"It's fortunate that Feng Ye's power saved your life in time."
"Elusha?!" Lucy exclaimed in surprise, turning towards the source of the voice. A hint of delight appeared on her face as she spotted Elusha approaching from the direction of the coastline.
Her initial joy quickly turned to bewilderment as she asked, "Was that... Feng Ye's power?"
"He has injected a portion of his magical power into each of us, which condenses into a guardian spell. It usually hides within the guild's mark and activates automatically when we're in danger."
Hearing Elusha's words, Lucy paused briefly before letting out a slight sigh of relief. "So that's how it is," she said.
She turned to look at Elusha again, intending to say something, but suddenly noticed the stern look in Elusha's eyes. This realization caused her to shudder as she abruptly remembered that she had participated in Natsu's theft of an S-class mission, breaking the guild's rules!
"You know why I'm here, don't you?" Elusha asked, her gaze intense as she looked at Lucy.
Lucy broke into a cold sweat, her body trembling as she weakly replied, "So... you're here to... capture us?"
With a detached expression, Elusha said, "It seems you're still quite clear-headed. Now, where are Natsu and the others?"
Lucy bit her lip before continuing, "Wait, Elusha! Listen to me. We were wrong to come here, but something terrible is happening on this island! There's a group of people trying to resurrect a frozen demon, and the villagers are also under its influence. The situation is dangerous! We must save this island first!"
A slight frown appeared on Elusha's face as she replied coldly, "That's none of my concern. The issue now is that you've broken the guild's rules! The rules set by the master are meant to protect everyone. Without the necessary strength, you must not take on S-class missions on your own. If it weren't for Feng Ye's power protecting you just now, do you know what might have happened to you?"
"I..." Lucy opened her mouth, unable to respond immediately, intimidated by Elusha's stern demeanor.
Recalling the dangerous situation earlier and Elusha's stern and frightening aura, a hint of fear reappeared in her eyes, and tears welled up in the corners.
But just then, a hand suddenly reached out from behind her and gently stroked her head, infusing her with a warm current of energy that instantly filled her body.
This warm current quickly alleviated her physical exhaustion, restoring strength to her limp limbs.
"Alright, Elusha, don't be too hard on her," Feng Ye said as he appeared behind Lucy, gently withdrawing his hand and turning to Elusha with a casual smile.
Seeing Feng Ye, Elusha's stern expression softened, and she closed her eyes briefly before opening them again. Letting out a breath, she said, "You're too indulgent with them."
"Feng... Feng Ye..." Lucy turned her head, a mix of surprise and gratitude flashing across her face as she looked at Feng Ye's sunny and amiable countenance. Overcome with emotion, she stood up and threw herself into his arms, bursting into tears.
"I'm sorry... I lost control and broke the rules..." she sobbed.
Feng Ye shook his head and chuckled, gently prying her away and wiping a tear from her face. "You still cry as easily as when you were little," he said fondly. "Come on, let's go and clean up the mess you've made."
