Chapter 730: Koscherci
The Red Dragon spread its Bloody Maw wide, and from deep within its throat surged an overwhelming torrent of Dragon Flame—so intense it seemed poised to consume everything in its path. Worse still, within the infernal fire flickered threads of silver-white inner flame, radiating an aura of sacred dignity.
—That was Order Fire, capable of utterly erasing Demons from existence, even beyond the reach of the Bottomless Abyss.
Kreom’s face twisted in panic. He collapsed to the ground, scrambling backward on all fours, his voice trembling with desperation: “Lord Koscherci! Please, I beg you—save me! I am your most loyal follower!”
“Looks like he’s too afraid to show himself,” Kai Xiusu sneered, a feral grin splitting his face. “So the so-called Lord of Wrath, King of the Frost Giants… this is all you are?”
With a single breath, the Dragon’s flame roared across the earth, incinerating hundreds of Demons in an instant. The flaming tongue lashed forward like a ravenous beast, racing toward the cowering Kreom.
Straining with every ounce of bloodline strength, Kreom heaved his Giant Hammer aloft. Cold wind howled through the wasteland as a torrent of icy light erupted from his form—thick, jagged pillars of ice shot upward from the ground, forming an unbreakable wall of frost.
But against Kai Xiusu’s all-consuming Dragon Flame, even that icy fortress crumbled in seconds. The ice melted into steam, then vanished into nothingness.
Just as the flame was about to consume Kreom, a furious roar echoed across the void, shattering the silence.
“Damned Crawler! Who dares challenge me—”
The voice boomed across the hellish wasteland, sending primal fear through the souls of every living being. Even the Chaos-tempered Demons fell silent, paralyzed by dread.
As a gale of biting cold swept through the land, the earth trembled violently. From beneath the surface, massive ice mountains rose slowly, blocking the Dragon Flame. Jagged, chaotic frost snow fell from the sky, swirling and coalescing into a towering, spectral figure.
It was a Frost Giant—hunched and twisted, its body a monstrous hundred meters tall, wrapped in a suit of armor stitched together from dozens of White Dragon hides. Its skin was a sickly blue, but its hair—black and greasy—was anything but pure. Its eyes, deep and soulless, burned with cruel, savage hunger, as if it longed to rend the world apart.
Its presence was undeniable—Frost Giant King, Lord of Wrath, Koscherci!
“Crawler,” the phantom intoned, “you have chosen the wrong enemy. Great Koscherci shall turn Avernus into a paradise of eternal abyss!”
Kai Xiusu looked up at the colossal specter, his eyes narrowing. A familiar sensation stirred within him.
Immortality. The Essence of Immortality.
Having encountered gods before, Kai Xiusu had memorized this trait—its power, its resonance. And sure enough, as Bair had said, this Abyssal Lord bore the hallmark of Semi-Divine Power. No—more accurately, he was a Tanalir Semi-God.
Even the ice mountains pulsed with divine might—powers of cold, of frost, of absolute dominion. With a single breath, they could freeze entire human kingdoms into lifeless ice tombs.
Yet Kai Xiusu was no mere mortal.
He laughed coldly.
“This is your trump card? Even a Semi-Divine Demon is no match for me in Avernus!”
Without hesitation, the Red Dragon unfurled its wings, summoning a scorching hurricane that lifted it into the sky. It hovered thousands of meters above the battlefield, facing the towering Frost Giant phantom with an overwhelming sense of superiority. The Dragon Crystal at his chest blazed like the sun, radiating light ten thousand zhang in width. Around him, endless Hellfire swirled, coalescing into a massive, infernal sword—Aphonus Authority made manifest!
“Avernus Power… You’re also a Hell Lord?” Koscherci narrowed his brows, thoughtful.
But Kai Xiusu didn’t wait. With a thunderous, soul-shattering roar, he unleashed a pillar of flame that pierced the heavens—like divine retribution, it crashed down with a deafening BOOM!
The earth trembled. A dense, white fog swallowed the land.
The ice mountain Koscherci had summoned cracked open from the impact, forming a colossal crater. Boiling, filthy water surged from the wound, cascading down like a raging river.
The Frost Giant roared, unleashing multiple beams of extreme cold from the void—each one clashing with Kai Xiusu’s flame pillar.
BOOM!
The clash of extremes—icy death and infernal fire—created a violent storm of chaotic energy. The skies twisted and churned, shifting between blinding suns, torrential storms, and skies choked with dark clouds.
But soon, Kai Xiusu gained the upper hand. The flame pillar advanced, pressing forward.
After all, Avernus was a dry, scorching purgatory—cold and frost had little power here. And with the Realm Will’s blessing upon him, the Red Dragon was far stronger.
Kreom stared in disbelief as the flame pillar approached, whispering, “No… this can’t be. Koscherci is invincible… how can a mere Crawler—”
The Demons trembled in terror, fleeing across the barren wasteland, terrified of being consumed by the aftermath.
Even the Devil officers felt a deeper, bone-deep fear—of the Emperor of the Ashen Flame.
Bair stood atop the Bronze Fortress, watching the battle unfold. But when he sensed that familiar power—the same energy he had once claimed—his expression darkened.
“That power… it should be mine,” he growled, fists clenched. But he could do nothing. Not now.
There was no denying it—Kai Xiusu was powerful. And the Avernus needed such strength to maintain order, to prevent the Demons from seizing control.
Despite his fury, Bair had to admit it: Now, Avernus needed Kai Xiusu. And now, he needed this powerful ally.
This was the cost of balance.
“ROOOOAAARRR!” Kai Xiusu roared, unleashing the full force of Avernus’s power. “Koscherci! If you had come in your true form, I might have felt awe. But you send only an avatar? How dare you challenge me!”
A howling wind tore through the sky. The hundred-meter-long infernal sword descended from above—cleaving through the Frost Giant’s phantom form from crown to base with brutal precision.
Then, Hellfire erupted from the blade, engulfing the Frost Giant’s body in searing flames. White smoke billowed from its limbs. The ice and flesh melted away, and thick, murky snowwater gushed from its mouth and nostrils, as Chaos energy clashed violently with Hellfire.
“Kai Xiusu… Enemy of the Frost Giants… When my true body manifests, that will be your death!”
With a final, rasping roar, the Frost Giant’s form collapsed into a mountain of shattered ice, streaming with snowwater.
“No… Koscherci is invincible!” Kreom screamed, leaping to his feet, swinging his hammer wildly.
But his defiance was meaningless. The flame pillar consumed everything—his voice, his rebellion, his very existence.
BOOM!
A massive fireball, hundreds of meters wide, erupted from the earth, obliterating everything in its path—devouring the Frost Giant chieftain, and reducing Kreom to ash.
And with that, the Demon army—nearly a million strong, once so threatening—collapsed in chaos. Those who fled were scattered. The once-dominant force surrounding the Bronze Fortress was utterly broken.
What a terrifying war machine…
The scorched, lifeless earth stretched out beneath them, shrouded in the Death mist of the Abyss. The Devil officers could only stare in silent awe.
A mountainous figure. Scales harder than steel. Claws sharper than blades. Breath capable of destroying all.
Such a creature—once unleashed upon the battlefield—was pure, unrelenting disaster.
The Devil officers felt immense relief.
Thank the Nine Hells…
Thank the Nine Hells…
That this monster is on our side, not our enemy.
A crisp round of applause echoed through the sky.
Bair flared his wings, emerging from behind the Red Dragon, engulfed in swirling Hellfire. A false, smiling face on his face.
“Ah, what a magnificent performance, Your Majesty Kai Xiusu, my dearest ally. Truly, you are the most powerful Dragon in the Material Plane today—single-handedly destroying an entire Demon army.”
Kai Xiusu turned, giving a polite nod, returning the smile. “Of course. After all, we are both chosen by Asmodeus to rule Avernus. We must live up to our duties.”
“…You.” Bair’s smile faltered.
Without full Avernus Authority, he could never become a true Hell Lord. That was his greatest wound.
His enemies had even spread rumors—“Bair is unapproved by the Lord of the Nine Hells,” “Zaril will rise again.”—because he wasn’t truly a Lord of Avernus.
Kai Xiusu continued, “Now, you should keep your promise, Bair.”
“Promise?” Bair feigned innocence.
“The Empire Concession Zone,” Kai Xiusu said. “You said it yourself only moments ago. Not going back on your word now, are you?”
“Of course not, King Kai Xiusu,” Bair replied, inwardly laughing. A little territory? What could a greedy Red Dragon possibly do with that?
“Excellent,” Kai Xiusu said. “Then I’ll take this land here as our leasehold.”
He hovered in the air, circling the battlefield. Then, with a casual gesture, he pointed to a position at the very frontline of the Hell Legion.
“This territory shall be our Empire’s leasehold.”
“Agreed,” Bair said, his voice smooth. “Avernus shall forever remain open to the Empire—our eternal alliance.”
He added silently in his mind: “You’ll regret this, Last Hope. When the time comes… don’t cry too hard.”
The Red Dragon extended a claw, radiating an overwhelming force of law. Bair’s expression flickered—his pupils narrowed.
What is this greedy Red Dragon planning now?
He felt it—the faint, oppressive weight of a Planar Edict.
Was Kai Xiusu trying to seize his Authority? Worse—was he aiming to become the true Lord of Avernus?
Bair’s face darkened, his body radiating danger. In his hand, a Hell Longsword materialized.
He was ready to strike—ready to betray, to ambush, to honor his people’s finest tradition.
BOOM—
The earth roared. Dust and smoke filled the sky.
From the ground, a massive stone monument rose slowly—ancient, imposing, standing firm in the heart of Avernus.
Inscribed upon it, in sharp, clear runes:
【Imperial Boundary Monument】
“What is this?” Bair stared, utterly bewildered.
At that moment, a soft glow flickered around the monument.
Figures emerged—humans, dressed strangely—stepping out from the shadow of the stone.
“First! I’m first!”
“Where are we?”
“Don’t know! Saw a new teleportation point and just jumped—too bad I didn’t get first place.”
“Look at that crimson sky… this must be Baator. Are we in Avernus?”
More figures appeared—then hundreds, then thousands, then tens of thousands. A sea of humanity, a mottled tide, flowing from the monument.
Even the Devil officers were stunned. A single, silent stone, no magic aura—yet it summoned thousands upon thousands.
And worse—the numbers kept growing.
This was a ten-thousand-person cross-plane teleportation—and no high-level spellcasters were needed? It was absurd!
But then it hit him—This isn’t magic.
These people pressed tightly into the small space, facing the harsh, unforgiving hellscapes with no fear—only wonder, excitement.
“Give me some space! I’m about to die from crowding!”
“Homey! Is this the legendary Hidden Dungeon?”
“I read the guide—this is definitely Avernus. There was even an official quest to enter. Too bad my level was too low.”
“These Devil gear are cool—Hell Iron Set? Gotta try stealing some!”
The noise was deafening—more chaotic than the Demon army had ever been.
Suddenly, a voice cried out, pointing toward the sky.
“Look! There’s Brother Kai!”
“True Form! I’ve never seen him like this—even in the Empire!”
“Damn, that modeling is huge!”
The crowd erupted.
To them, Kai Xiusu wasn’t just a legendary NPC. He was the Emperor of the Ashen Empire, the Dragon who fought with deities, a living legend.
“Great! Emperor Kai’s here! There must be a Main Quest—this is our chance!”
“Already prepped to be carried by Emperor Kai!”
“Emperor Kai marches—no grass grows!”
“King Kai Xiusu’s body is getting hotter… if I could just touch him… hehehe…”
“Wait—Imperial Social Morality Patrol! We caught a Dragon Fanatics Association creep! Execute him immediately!”
“Creep? This is faith! Faith!” the player gasped, staring at Kai Xiusu with wild, feverish eyes, instinctively wiping drool from his lip.
