Chapter 73: Start of the Holiday Special Training
Chapter 73: Start of the Holiday Special Training
【Student Uchiha Nagato diligently practiced and achieved perfect scores in the academic assessment, earning a reward: Chakra +300, Ninjutsu Proficiency Scroll】
【Student Might Guy diligently practiced and achieved excellent scores in the academic assessment, earning a reward: Chakra +250】
【Student Uchiha Obito diligently practiced and achieved good scores in the academic assessment, earning a reward: Chakra +200】
After settling the semester exam rewards, Mu Yue's total chakra amount surged slightly once more.
【Name: Mu Yue Yu】
【Chakra: 12,050】
"It seems only a top score in both areas will earn a proficiency scroll reward." Mu Yue mused, considering the system's three reward notifications.
Aside from Nagato, who was already at the pinnacle of his year with no room for improvement, Might Guy and Obito's rewards were slightly higher than the last time.
Previously, both Might Guy and Obito had only received a reward of 150 chakra, but this time, Might Guy received an additional 100 chakra, and Obito, an extra 50.
Indeed, Might Guy and Obito had made significant progress, not only in practical combat but also in their theoretical understanding, with their scores skyrocketing to the 50s.
Although the Ninjutsu Proficiency Scroll was a valuable item, Mu Yue didn't intend for Might Guy and Obito to invest too much time in theoretical studies to achieve perfect scores.
Their learning efficiency was simply too low.
Even with Mu Yue's frequent extra classes and guidance, Might Guy and Obito barely managed to scrape by with scores in the 50s. If he had Anko in their place, she could effortlessly achieve full marks.
To get Might Guy and Obito to perfect scores, Mu Yue felt that he would have to halt all his cultivation and personally teach them, forcing them to study and practice relentlessly.
However, such an endeavor wasn't worth it. It would be more beneficial for them to focus on their regular training, becoming stronger sooner, which would, in turn, earn Mu Yue greater rewards.
"Hehe, Teacher Mu Yue, about the reward you mentioned before..." After reprimanding the two troublemakers, Anko shyly approached Mu Yue.
Mu Yue tapped Anko's little head with his two fingers together and said, "You still dare to ask for a reward after regressing?"
"Where's the regression? I still got second place in the practical exam. Nagato is just too strong; there's no way I can beat him," Anko tried to deflect.
"I'm talking about your theory score, which dropped by two points from last time," Mu Yue pointed out the fact, having a perfect memory of everyone's scores in the class.
"Aiya, it's all Kotetsu and Izumo's fault!" Anko glared at the two culprits, wishing she could turn back time and punch them again for convincing her that she didn't need to revise.
"Here, take it and eat. If you regress again next time, there won't be any more treats," Mu Yue eventually handed over the steamed bun that Anko craved the most.
He had bought them on his way to school, enough for everyone in the class.
"Teacher Mu Yue is the best!" Anko exclaimed as she took the bun and began to sing praises of Mu Yue's greatness.
The atmosphere in Class 1-1 was quite pleasant. Even after receiving their exam results and papers, the students stayed back and chatted in the classroom until noon before leaving.
At midday, Mu Yue attended a meeting with the other teachers in the lecture hall.
Teachers at the Ninja Academy also held meetings, though not frequently. This particular gathering aimed to summarize the teaching work of the semester and announce the list of outstanding teachers.
For Mu Yue, this meeting held little significance. As a teacher, he differed from the regular staff, and he had no interest in outstanding teacher awards or bonuses.
However, unexpectedly, the Third Hokage himself made an appearance at this meeting.
According to Yu Ueda and Ueda, this kind of meeting was usually presided over by the class leader of the teacher's class.
"Lord Third Hokage," Mu Yue greeted respectfully.
The Third Hokage smiled and nodded at Mu Yue.
Due to his relatively free schedule recently, the Third Hokage had taken a look at Mu Yue's Class 1-1's performance, and he was astounded by what he saw.
The previous exam results had already been exceptional for the Ninja School, but Class 1-1's performance this time had improved even further.
The average theory score had reached a staggering 81 points, which would be considered an excellent score in other classes, implying that every student in Class 1-1 was performing at an outstanding level.
The impressive performance of Mu Yue's class, along with the fact that the principal hadn't attended a school meeting in a long while, prompted the Third Hokage's presence at this gathering.
Perhaps due to the presence of the Third Hokage, the meeting proceeded swiftly without any interruptions.
"Next, we will announce the list of outstanding teachers for this semester: Yu Muketsu..."
Mu Yue's name was called out first.
"Congratulations, Teacher Mu Yue," Ueda Aya congratulated softly.
Although Mu Yue remained emotionally unaffected, he responded with a gentle smile to his colleague's well-wishes.
"Iketani Isamu."
"I'm an outstanding teacher, too!" Iketani Isamu exclaimed with delight.
Iketani's students had taken the top two spots for the grade level, so he had an inkling that he might be recognized, but he still felt elated when it was officially announced.
Being named an outstanding teacher was a significant achievement, with only four teachers receiving this honor each semester. Iketani had been teaching for several years, yet this was his first time earning the recognition.
"Damn, why didn't the students in my class suddenly improve like that?" Kimura Sando said enviously.
He didn't envy Mu Yue for being named an outstanding teacher, as he believed it would be strange if Mu Yue hadn't received that recognition.
However, he knew Iketani Isamu's capabilities, and he attributed Iketani's achievement solely to the exceptional performances of Might Guy and Uchiha Obito.
"You were complaining about Might Guy and Uchiha Obito being deadweights before. Now look, this outstanding teacher award is all thanks to them," Ueda Aya added, equally envious.
When Iketani first took over Class 4-2, his colleagues had offered him consolation. Yet, the semester ended with a remarkable turnaround for his students.
"I admit, I underestimated the potential of Might Guy and Obito," Iketani acknowledged his previous mistake.
"When the bonus comes, I'll treat you all to drinks. Teacher Mu Yue, you must come; you share the credit for this outstanding teacher award," Iketani said with a broad smile, grateful for the many times Mu Yue had covered his classes.
"Sure, if I'm free," Mu Yue agreed with a nod.
"I want to specially mention Teacher Yu here," began Hiruzen Sarutobi. "Under his guidance, the students of Class 1-1 have achieved remarkable results."
Hiruzen then recited the various accomplishments of Mu Yue's class, encouraging all the teachers present to emulate Mu Yue's example and dedicate themselves to nurturing the next generation of Konoha's future.
After being singled out for praise by the Third Hokage, Mu Yue could feel the gazes of all the teachers in the room upon him. Perhaps it was his amicable demeanor, but he didn't sense any malicious or jealous looks; everyone seemed genuinely friendly.
"Keep up the good work, Mu Yue. You're doing a great job," Hiruzen patted Mu Yue's shoulder encouragingly after the meeting.
"I will do my best to educate the students, Third Hokage," Mu Yue reiterated his earlier response from the principal's office.
Hearing this, the Third Hokage burst into hearty laughter, appearing to be in high spirits.
The conclusion of the meeting signaled the start of the holidays for the teachers, including Mu Yue.
Neither the recognition as an outstanding teacher nor the praise from the Third Hokage affected Mu Yue's emotions. However, he was slightly perplexed that Might Guy hadn't triggered a training mission in the past two days.
Mu Yue subtly probed the situation and discovered that Might Guy hadn't encountered Kakashi for their battle yet, which put him at ease.
Kakashi was probably away on a mission, hence Might Guy's inability to find him these past two days.
With the official start of the holidays, Mu Yue shared his special holiday training plan with his disciples.
