Chapter 729: Thor Awakens (Second Update)
Chapter 729: Thor Awakens (Second Update)
"Heimdall!"
Loki, witnessing Hela casually crush Thor's Mjolnir with her bare hands, immediately screamed for Heimdall to open the Bifrost and teleport them back to Asgard.
Unfortunately, the Bifrost did not appear, and it was clear that Heimdall had not heeded his call.
"Heimdall, do not open the Bifrost."
It was Thor's timely command that prevented Heimdall from opening the Bifrost.
In fact, even without Thor's intervention, Jerry knew Heimdall would not have opened the Bifrost, as Odin had already instructed Heimdall the previous day not to do so, to prevent Hela from returning to Asgard.
With Jerry's help, Odin no longer intended to initiate Ragnarok, and thus it was crucial that Hela did not gain complete control over Asgard's power.
"What are you doing? It's obvious we can't beat her!"
Loki's face twisted in disbelief when he saw Thor preventing the Bifrost from opening.
Thor, however, assumed a boxing stance he had learned on Earth.
"Even if we can't beat her, we can't let her return to Asgard. Father just said that if she gets back, she will draw infinite power from Asgard, making her even more formidable."
"But Asgard has our army!"
Loki looked at Thor as if he were a fool. After returning to Asgard, besides him and Thor, there would be the powerful Asgardian army that had once conquered the Nine Realms. He did not believe Hela could single-handedly destroy the entire Asgardian army.
Thor turned and roared at Loki:
"But Asgard also has many ordinary Asgardians and our mother. We can't take that risk!"
His years with the Avengers had taught Thor that if an opponent was strong enough, numbers alone would not suffice to win, much like Jerry.
According to Odin's final words, once Hela returned to Asgard, she would gain power on par with Odin's peak, at which point even Thor and the entire Asgardian army combined might not stand a chance.
"Fine, I admit you have a point."
Loki's body stiffened at Thor's words. Clenching his teeth, he threw a dagger to Thor.
He could care less about the safety of other Asgardian civilians, but he could not ignore the safety of his beloved mother, Frigga.
Thor caught the dagger Loki threw, a puzzled look on his face.
Seeing this, Loki said irritably:
"You don't plan to fight her bare-handed, do you?"
"You're right."
As Hela approached, wielding two long swords, Thor swung the dagger a few times, reluctantly accepting his brother's rare gesture of goodwill.
"For the glory of Asgard!"
Gripping the small, intricate dagger, Thor roared and charged straight at Hela. Loki, meanwhile, used magic to become invisible and silently circled around to Hela's back, planning to strike at an opportune moment.
"This battle will be quite entertaining; I must record it."
Invisible in the air, Jerry watched Thor charge at Hela with the dagger and immediately pulled out the magic camera he had previously used to film Elsa.
Thor, fighting with a dagger after using a hammer for over a thousand years, had a peculiar and almost comical quality about him.
"Ouch, that looks bad!"
Clearly unaccustomed to using a dagger, Thor struggled to adapt, especially against Hela, who wielded her dual swords with unparalleled skill, her strength and speed far surpassing Thor's.
Thor's chest was now marked with two bloody crosses, and his face bore the imprint of Hela's heavy kick.
As for Loki, who had attempted a sneak attack, Hela saw through his Magic and knocked his dagger away with a single strike, then brutally stomped on him.
"Odin has truly fallen, to take a lowly Frost Giant as a son. Let me send you to meet Odin."
Hela raised the Nightsky Sword and thrust it directly toward Loki's heart.
"I am Thor, let him go!"
Seeing Loki about to be killed, Thor, ignoring the wounds on his chest, leaped up and charged at Hela with all his might.
"Now it's the brother saving the brother, and soon it will be the brother saving the brother again. Hmm, this line sounds familiar, I think I've seen it in some movie."
Jerry watched Thor knock Hela away and save Loki, and muttered to himself.
Sure enough, Hela, furious after being knocked away, no longer played cat and mouse. She threw the Nightsky Sword like a javelin at Thor with all her strength.
"You aren't worthy of the name Thor. You're more like the God of the Hammer. Without your hammer, you're just a waste."
Just as the javelin was about to pierce Thor, Loki suddenly got up and pushed Thor out of the way, taking the fatal blow himself.
By the time Thor reacted, Loki was already impaled by Hela's Nightsky Sword, pinned to the ground through his chest.
"Loki!"
Thor could hardly believe it. His brother, who usually despised him, had actually stepped in to save him.
"Just a little longer. Let's see if the God of the Hammer can truly become Thor."
Seeing Loki severely wounded and near death, Jerry still did not intervene. He remained invisible, watching from the air.
Odin's wish was for Hela's threat to mend the rift between Thor and Loki. The current situation had clearly achieved that goal.
If Jerry were to appear now and deal with Hela, his deal with Odin would be complete.
However, Jerry did not. It wasn't that he was going back on his word; he believed that if he waited a bit longer, Thor might be able to unlock his true potential and awaken the true power of Thor.
With his current strength, even if Loki died, Jerry could quickly preserve his soul and bring him back to life at any time.
As Thor's friend, Jerry wanted to see him grow stronger.
"To be honest, I didn't want to save you. I don't know why my body acted on its own just now. It seems I won't be the king of Asgard after all.
I hope you can become a worthy king and not be so easily deceived."
Lying in Thor's arms, his eyes filled with tears, Loki spoke his final words and slowly closed his eyes.
"No!"
Thor let out a heart-wrenching roar and looked up at Hela with a fierce glare.
Hela chuckled, "No need to grieve. You're next, and then the entire Asgard. Anyone who resists me will meet the same fate."
"You are as rotten as Father said. No one else will die, except you!"
Thor gently placed Loki on the ground. His eyes turned to lightning, and his body was enveloped in countless bolts of lightning.
Thor had awakened!
"Oh, this is somewhat interesting, but it won't change the outcome."
Seeing Thor awaken his divine power, Hela did not seem surprised. She merely sneered and, in an instant, dozens of Nightsky Swords appeared behind her.
