Chapter 727: The Dark Lord is Unbeatable!
Chapter 727: The Dark Lord is Unbeatable!
Ivan's words were razor-sharp, quickly leaving Evers stunned and unable to believe what he was hearing.
"This is impossible... You're lying!" Evers shouted, his face contorted with madness as he struggled to lunge forward.
However, Fenrir, who had been keeping a watchful eye, immediately grabbed Evers by the collar and kicked him to the ground, pinning him to the floor.
Evers writhed and twisted, trying to break free from Fenrir's grip, but to no avail. Finally, he managed to lift his head, his eyes glaring at Ivan with intense hatred, and he snarled, "You must be lying! The Dark Lord is unbeatable. He is more powerful than any living Wizard. You only escaped by sheer luck from the Master. I saw with my own eyes how you fled in disgrace that day..."
"I have no reason to lie to you", Ivan said, shaking his head and sighing. "Think about it, Evers... I suspect that the night he went to the graveyard, you waited all night and he never returned, right?"
Under Ivan's questioning, Evers felt his heart sink to the bottom of his stomach, and the memories slowly resurfaced in his mind.
As Ivan had said, a few nights ago, the Dark Lord had gone to pursue Harry Potter and never returned to the graveyard. He only communicated through the Dark Mark, ordering them to disband and leave the area temporarily.
In the following days, Evers never saw the Dark Lord again. Voldemort's instructions were relayed through Severus Snape...
"He was severely injured, of course he wouldn't dare show himself to you!" Ivan read Evers' thoughts and continued mockingly. "Voldemort doesn't want you to know that the so-called Dark Lord is just a powerful Wizard. He can be hurt and he can die, just like anyone else..."
Hearing this, Evers' body trembled uncontrollably. He couldn't believe it, but all the evidence pointed to one undeniable fact: the Dark Lord had truly been defeated...
Realizing this, Evers seemed to lose all his energy, collapsing onto the ground, muttering over and over, "Impossible... This is impossible. The Dark Lord is unbeatable..."
The Wizards who witnessed this scene felt a chill run down their spines, their fear of Ivan deepening.
They had heard every word of Ivan's conversation with Evers, and even the most dim-witted among them could deduce that their leader, Lord Hals, had already faced the resurrected Dark Lord.
While the details of the battle were unknown, one thing was certain: Voldemort had been severely injured and forced into hiding, while Ivan stood there unharmed.
The outcome was clear...
However, there were still those who doubted it. Ivan's young age was deceptive, and the fear the Dark Lord had instilled was deeply rooted.
If not for Evers' genuine expression and the fact that he had been subjected to the Cruciatus Curse, no one would have believed the Dark Lord had been defeated...
"Take him away!" Seeing Evers' near-collapse, Ivan lost interest and waved his hand, ordering Fenrir to remove him.
"Yes, Lord Hals!" Fenrir said with a mixture of reverence and respect, then grabbed Evers by the ankle and dragged him away.
Only then did Ivan turn to the others in the Meeting Room, gesturing for them to sit and speaking calmly. "Take a seat, everyone. Now we can discuss some serious matters..."
Ivan's gentle tone dispelled much of the tense atmosphere in the room. The Wizards gathered in the Meeting Room all let out a sigh of relief and settled back into their chairs.
Dawgert and Asia took their seats on Ivan's left and right, and the other Wizards instinctively followed, forming two distinct groups.
On the left were the Pureblood Wizards and Dawgert's friends, while the poor Wizards from Knockturn Alley and the werewolves all sat on the right.
Notably, the seat next to Asia remained empty, as no one dared to take it. It was likely reserved for Fenrir.
Ivan did not interfere, quietly observing the situation before calmly inquiring about the events in Knockturn Alley during his absence.
Asia did not withhold any information, recounting everything in detail, with Dawgert adding his own insights.
In summary, the past year in Knockturn Alley had been relatively peaceful. The Wizards' Market, after some reorganization, had resumed operations, significantly alleviating the previous financial strain.
Training had been ongoing every day, and now about 60% of the Wizards had successfully mastered the Protego spell. The number of Aurors had increased to over twenty, each one an experienced combatant.
"Even a Ministry of Magic Beater wouldn't stand a chance against our Aurors in a one-on-one fight! And if it came to a group battle, we could hold our own against twice their number!" Dawgert said proudly.
This was no exaggeration.
Although the Aurors had only been training for about a year, their daily training intensity was several times higher than that of the Ministry of Magic Beaters. Moreover, they already had a solid foundation, having been selected as victors from the dueling arenas.
If they could recruit more members, Dawgert was confident they could directly challenge the Ministry of Magic!
"Excellent, you've done a great job!" Ivan swept his gaze over each Auror, his voice filled with praise.
The Aurors all straightened their backs, like soldiers awaiting inspection. When Ivan spoke those words, they all felt that their hard training had been worth it.
Walker, feeling bold, ventured a question. "Lord Hals, we've been waiting for a whole year. When will we finally have a major operation?"
The Wizards in the room also turned their expectant gazes toward Ivan, eager to finally see action. For the past year, they had been occupied with patrols, training, and gathering intelligence, and they were practically going stir-crazy from the lack of activity.
"Since you're all so impatient, let's set it for tonight!" Ivan nodded, then turned his attention to Dawgert. "How many Wizards are there in Knockturn Alley?"
"Besides us, there are about 160 regulars here..." Dawgert replied hesitantly.
Ivan considered the completion conditions of the System Task "Clean Up Knockturn Alley" and quickly made his decision. "Your task for tonight is to bring everyone from Knockturn Alley to the Wizards' Market. I have a few things to say!"
