Chapter 726: The Great Dao's Wonder
Chapter 726: The Great Dao's Wonder
"Roar!"
The Pillager-grade Crystal Beast roared in anger, struggling with all its might. Its unleashed power caused the vast valley, spanning tens of thousands of miles, to continuously crack and shatter. Beneath the crisscrossing fractures on the ground, layer upon layer of crystal jade could be seen.
Endless power surged from these crystal jades, manipulated by the Pillager-grade Crystal Beast. However, wave after wave of this power was suppressed and crushed by Wu Tian Sovereign and Chen Mu, along with their companions.
After a brief confrontation, the massive Crystal Beast let out a low, mournful cry and collapsed to the ground.
"This beast, with its advantageous terrain, was indeed a bit troublesome to deal with," Wu Tian Sovereign remarked with a smile as he withdrew his attack.
A single Great Dao Sovereign could typically subdue a Pillager-grade Crystal Beast with some effort. However, the beast had harnessed the Primordial Chaos Force from its surroundings due to its advantageous position, allowing it to withstand the siege of eight Great Dao Sovereigns for a while before finally being subdued.
"It took some effort, but it was worth it," Beast God Sovereign nodded slightly and stepped forward, instantly appearing beside the Crystal Beast's corpse. He crouched down to carefully examine the beast's remains.
Pillager-grade Crystal Beasts, though referred to as 'beasts,' are essentially Primordial Chaos lifeforms. Their bodies are not made of flesh and blood in the conventional sense. After death, their internal will dissipates, leaving behind a corpse that can be considered a wonder in some respects.
Chen Mu's eyes flickered with a subtle light as he took a step forward, approaching the side of the Crystal Beast.
Wu Tian Sovereign, Canyang Sovereign, and the others also stepped forward to gather around the beast's corpse, each scrutinizing it closely. Although now was not the time for in-depth contemplation or dividing interests, a brief observation wouldn't cause any harm.
"Indeed, it has merged the forces of Creation and Chronicle," Chen Mu observed, his eyes gleaming with a faint light as he stared at the beast's remains.
Previously, this Pillager-grade Crystal Beast had displayed the power of the Chronicle. Now, upon examining its corpse, it was evident that its body and the essence of its power were composed of a combination of four mysteries from the Creation lineage and two mysteries from the Chronicle lineage.
The Primordial Chaos Force, constructed from the mysteries of six different Great Daos, was indeed extraordinary. It would have been challenging for a single Great Dao Sovereign to defeat this beast.
Chen Mu's contemplation of the beast's corpse seemed to spark a train of thought within him, while Beast God Sovereign and the others wore expressions of regret.
"What a pity, it's the Chronicle and Creation," one of them lamented.
"Indeed," Wu Tian Sovereign nodded after a brief observation.
For the majority of Great Dao Sovereigns, the path to enlightenment involves mastering one lineage first, and then cultivating other Great Daos. After achieving mastery in three lineages, only a select few would attempt to merge different Great Daos.
Most Great Dao Sovereigns typically cultivate the Creation lineage first, followed by the Void lineage, leaving the Chronicle lineage as the most challenging and the last to be attempted.
Furthermore, Wu Tian Sovereign and his companions, having already mastered the Creation lineage, were currently focusing on the Void lineage. The Chronicle lineage was not their primary area of cultivation at this time. Therefore, the value of this beast's corpse for their cultivation was not as high.
However, for Chen Mu, this presented an intriguing opportunity. Having already mastered both the Void and Creation lineages, it was time for him to delve into the exploration of merging the Primordial Chaos Force from different Great Daos.
"Chen Zun, according to our previous agreement, you shall keep this beast's corpse," Wu Tian Sovereign suggested, looking at Chen Mu.
"Alright," Chen Mu readily agreed. He stepped forward, waved his sleeve, and enveloped the beast's corpse in a surge of Void power, causing it to vanish instantly, presumably hidden away in some deep dimensional space.
The previous agreement aligned perfectly with Chen Mu's intentions. By taking responsibility for preserving the spoils, he could allocate a portion of his mental focus to studying and exploring the Great Daos while continuing to explore alongside his companions.
For most Great Dao Sovereigns, it would be challenging to spare much mental focus while exploring dangerous places like the Source Sea. However, Chen Mu, having already mastered both the Void and Creation lineages, could navigate the Source Sea with ease, solely relying on the power of the Void lineage, leaving him with ample reserves of strength.
Currently, Chen Mu was dedicating most of his spare mental focus to the contemplation of the Chronicle lineage.
"Let's continue our exploration," Beast God Sovereign said.
"Indeed," Chen Mu replied.
After Chen Mu had collected the beast's corpse, Beast God Sovereign and the others exchanged glances and quickly departed, continuing their journey deeper into the vast land.
...
In the center of an endless plain stood a towering mountain, its peak reaching high into the heavens. The entire mountain appeared to be a deep brown color, resembling thick layers of rock. However, in reality, it was composed of an incredibly dense Primordial Chaos Force. The concentration of this force was so intense that even a Great Dao Sovereign, harnessing the full might of their Great Dao, could only cause minimal damage.
At the summit of this mountain peak, a deep well could be seen in the center, leading downward through the entire mountain and reaching the bottom. At the bottom, a flickering flame could be observed, constantly surging and creating ripples of unstable power within.
Upon closer inspection, one could sense a Great Way Sovereign unleashing their power in all directions, but the mountain itself was composed of dense Primordial Chaos Force, suppressing the unleashed power.
Standing beside this well leading to the mountain's base were about a dozen figures, divided into two groups. One group had around seven individuals, while the other had eight, and each person was a Great Way Sovereign. They stood in a subtle standoff.
The two groups faced each other from a distance, but neither made a move, as if waiting for something.
Time passed, and suddenly, the dozen or so Great Way Sovereigns atop the peak seemed to sense something, furrowing their brows. Some even looked off into the distance.
"Another group has arrived..."
One of the Great Way Sovereigns shook his head, his expression slightly displeased.
It was rare to find such a place, where a Great Way Treasure was in the process of formation. They had thought they could claim it for themselves, but before the treasure was fully formed, another group of Great Way Sovereigns had arrived.
What was once a situation of sole possession had now become a standoff between two groups, and they all sensed that yet another group was approaching, further complicating the situation.
There was nothing they could do.
The Great Way Treasure was not yet fully formed, and even as Great Way Sovereigns, they couldn't force its formation. All they could discern was that the treasure at the mountain's base seemed to belong to the Xu Kong lineage.
As the two groups of Great Way Sovereigns atop the peak turned their attention to the distant newcomers, several figures gradually emerged, rapidly closing the distance.
Leading them was the Wu Tian Sovereign.
Wu Tian Sovereign, Chen Mu, Shou Shen Zun Zhe, and the others had rushed over, and as they observed the scene, their hearts stirred. Their eyes gleamed with anticipation.
Although they weren't sure what was there, the presence of two groups of Great Way Sovereigns suggested that a valuable resource, possibly a Great Way Treasure, was about to emerge.
"Greetings, fellow cultivators," Wu Tian Sovereign said as he and the others approached the peak, addressing the dozen or so Great Way Sovereigns atop it.
"Wu Tian."
"Shou Shen."
"Hmph."
Most of the Great Way Sovereigns on the peak were acquainted with Wu Tian Sovereign, but even those with a slight connection to him wore grim expressions. After all, Wu Tian Sovereign had brought a formidable force of eight Great Way Sovereigns, not an easy group to drive away.
The impending birth of this Great Way Treasure had just gained another competing force, further complicating the situation.
Wu Tian Sovereign smiled, his gaze sweeping over the crowd, but he refrained from provoking them. He didn't want to see these two distinct forces joining forces against them.
As he stepped onto the peak, he turned his attention to the well in the center, immediately spotting the blazing wheel of power at the bottom. With a quick scan, a faint glow appeared in his eyes.
A Great Way Treasure!
As expected, a Great Way Treasure was indeed incubating here, and it belonged to the Xu Kong lineage!
Others, like Shou Shen Zun Zhe and Canyang Zun Zhe, also showed anticipation in their eyes upon seeing the incubating Great Way Treasure within the mountain's core.
A Great Way Treasure of the Xu Kong lineage!
For them, the most coveted treasure was one from the Xu Kong lineage, as they were all cultivating the Xu Kong path. Having such a treasure to aid their cultivation would be invaluable.
In their eyes, the value of a Great Way Treasure from the Xu Kong lineage even surpassed that of the Zao Hua lineage. After all, they had already mastered creation, and obtaining a treasure from the Zao Hua lineage would only help them refine a supreme treasure of that path, enhancing their personal strength rather than their Great Way realm.
At the Sovereign level, realm advancement was the true priority.
"The Xu Kong lineage, huh."
Only Chen Mu, gazing at the incubating Great Way Treasure at the mountain's base, remained calm. Whether it was a treasure from the Xu Kong or Zao Hua lineage, it held little significance for him. Only a treasure from the Chronology lineage would have some effect, helping him comprehend the Chronology Great Way more quickly. But even this effect was minor, as his understanding of the Chronology Great Way was only a matter of time.
Currently, the only thing that could stir his heart was a treasure that gathered the power of various Great Ways, a Primordial Chaos Treasure.
