Chapter 725: Defaming Blue Star
Chapter 725: Defaming Blue Star
As the Blue Star cultivators were sending their captives one by one into the Skrull base, Qianbei Buzui and his two companions finally regained their freedom.
The three of them were escorted out of the base by the Skrulls, with all their spiritual energy restrictions completely lifted.
Looking at the Blue Star cultivators outside the base, Qianbei Buzui and his companions felt a profound sense of relief at having survived their ordeal.
"President Ke, esteemed seniors, we're back! I'm very sorry for failing to meet your expectations," Qianbei Buzui said, clasping his fists together and addressing Su Yu and the Great Cultivators in the sky.
Su Yu was the first to respond, "It's fine. You all had it tough, especially you, Qianbei Buzui, being teleported to the capital of Runkte. It's not your fault you couldn't escape."
Su Yu approached Qianbei Buzui and his companions, examining them closely. "You three don't seem to be injured. Did the Skrulls mistreat you in any way?"
Qianbei Buzui smiled. "We're fine. They didn't mistreat us much, probably because we were only captured for a short time."
However, he added with a hint of regret, "Unfortunately, we didn't accomplish anything during those seven days. We didn't bring back any resources or have the chance to train. It feels like those days were wasted."
"Enough of that. Just being back is the best thing that could have happened!" Su Yu said, opening his arms to embrace Qianbei Buzui and the other two. "Welcome back to Blue Star, all three of you!"
...
After the three Blue Star players returned, a group of specialized healer players conducted a thorough medical examination on them.
The examination revealed no immediate safety concerns, so Su Yu arranged for them to return to their online game, knowing they had already lost seven days and couldn't afford to waste any more time.
The day after the three players returned, a grand celebration ceremony was held at the headquarters of the United Government, chaired by Speaker Hu Jing.
The ceremony was broadcast live across all networks, with Speaker Hu Jing aiming to boost public morale and reward those who had contributed to the mission.
At 10 AM, in the grand auditorium of the United Government headquarters, all 15 players who had traveled to Skrull were present.
Speaker Hujing gave a grand speech, commending their achievements.
Of course, many of their accomplishments couldn't be detailed, such as Xiaotian's meeting with Cindy Doppler, which couldn't be disclosed to the public.
Speaker Hujing praised them verbally and promised to increase their training resources.
If there were any future missions to Skrull, these 15 players would be given priority.
...
While Blue Star was holding its celebration, Skrull was staging a "public condemnation rally."
Lanbo was now both relieved and troubled.
He was relieved that Emperor Manina seemed to have forgotten about him and hadn't sent anyone to cause him trouble.
However, he was troubled by the task he was now performing, which made him feel deeply uncomfortable.
After entering the Fuji Spring, Commander Lanqi knew that the captives had not been tortured or mistreated by the Blue Star people.
But how could they let this stand?
The Skrull expeditionary force couldn't show the people the friendly side of the Blue Star people. They had to portray the Blue Star people as demonic, cruel torturers to stir up public hatred.
So, Lanbo and a few other fifth- and sixth-rank powerhouses drew many wounds on their bodies and informed the public through the media about the Blue Star people's brutality.
Lanbo was the media's favorite interview subject.
His body was covered in countless scars.
Just by showing these scars, he could convincingly portray the Blue Star people as vicious and cruel.
...
The day after returning to their home planet, Lanbo, arranged by his brother Lanqi, participated in an interview with the famous Skrull media outlet, The Sun's Voice.
Lamb had already prepared his lines, which were nothing more than slanderous remarks about the humans of Blue Star.
In truth, Lamb didn't want to defame Blue Star. The humans had treated him kindly, even helping to heal his injuries. He wanted to tell the truth about what he had seen on Blue Star, to let everyone know that the humans were friendly and not as terrifying as the propaganda made them out to be.
But that was impossible.
He had to speak ill of the Blue Star humans if he wanted to appear on the show.
In the studio of Sunlight Sound, the female host sat gracefully, looking at Lamb with a composed expression. "Lord Lamb, you were captured by the Blue Star humans for over a month. I imagine you must have endured a great deal of hardship during that time?"
"Ah, yes, it was truly the most unforgettable experience of my life. Thinking back on it now, it's like a nightmare."
Lamb recited the lines prepared by the organizers, devoid of any emotion. "I suffered immense abuse on Blue Star. On the day I was captured, I was forced to undergo memory extraction, which severely damaged my memories. I still haven't fully recovered.
"After that, I was repeatedly beaten. The chief instructor at the Blue Star prisoner camp was nothing short of a brute! Over the course of a month, I was beaten over 30 times, each time leaving me with severe injuries. These scars on my body are the best proof."
Lamb lifted his shirt to show the scars to the camera. The scars were truly horrifying, covering his body. Many of them were charred and black, impossible to heal, a testament to the suffering he had endured.
These scars, of course, were the marks left by the "Flare" organization, but now they were being attributed to the Blue Star humans.
"This is truly terrifying!" The host looked at Lamb's scars, her eyes burning with intense anger. "This is barbaric and cruel! It's not the behavior of a civilized society! Such a savage and backward species should be eradicated!"
"You're right," Lamb responded without any emotion.
"Have all our viewers seen this?" The host turned to the camera, her voice filled with indignation. "From the start of the war until now, we have never mistreated any Blue Star prisoners. Yet, the Blue Star humans treat our warriors with such brutality.
"And there are countless examples of this. Let's take a look."
The interview then cut to a series of scenes.
In the footage, Skrull soldiers were either missing limbs, covered in blood, or on the brink of death. Without exception, they were all crying out about the atrocities committed by the Blue Star humans and the hardships they endured in the prisoner camps.
The scene then cut back to the studio.
The host looked at the lifeless eyes of Lamb and asked, "Lord Lamb, do you have anything you want to say to our people?"
"Yes," Lamb nodded dully. "I believe everyone must unite to eliminate the evil species of Blue Star humans and let the Skrull flower bloom on that evil land!"
Lamb had no choice but to say this.
On the show, he couldn't say anything positive about the Blue Star humans. Since it was a recorded broadcast, even if he had said something good, it wouldn't have been aired. He could only read from the script.
At the same time, he thought to himself, "I'll find a way later, a way to reveal the truth about the prisoner camps."
