Chapter 723: If Only Time Could Stand Still Forever
Chapter 723: If Only Time Could Stand Still Forever
"What a huge mushroom!"
Lisanna dashed into the forest and soon came upon a giant mushroom. She tilted her head, assuming an adorable expression, and poked it with her finger.
Feeling the soft surface of the mushroom, she giggled and leaped onto its cap, using it as a trampoline and bouncing a couple of times.
But just then—
"Roar!!!"
The mushroom she was jumping on suddenly roared and began to roll, transforming into a massive creature with a mushroom cap for a head, baring its fangs.
"Ah!!!”
Lisanna was startled and instinctively tried to use her magic, forgetting that she couldn't access her Edolas powers. As a result, she was sent flying by the mushroom monster.
Fortunately, she flew straight toward Feng Ye, who reached out and caught her in his arms.
Being caught in Feng Ye's embrace in mid-air, Lisanna heaved a sigh of relief. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked toward the mushroom monster, which was charging toward them while roaring.
Huff!
Feng Ye opened his mouth and gently blew toward the oncoming creature.
As he exhaled, the temperature of the air plummeted, and the mushroom monster's movements became stiff and sluggish. Starting from its teeth, its body gradually froze, inch by inch, until it was completely encased in a massive block of ice.
"It's terrifying that a mushroom turned into a monster, but it's also a bit interesting."
Witnessing this, Lisanna couldn't help but exhale as well, blinking her eyes.
With Feng Ye by her side, she felt less scared.
"Nothing is surprising in this world."
Feng Ye smiled nonchalantly and set Lisanna down.
Lisanna obediently disentangled herself from his embrace and landed on the ground, but a hint of reluctance flashed in her eyes. She quickly smiled again, took Feng Ye's hand, and said, "Brother Feng Ye, let's go over there. It looks like a valley."
"Okay."
Feng Ye gently smiled and didn't resist as Lisanna pulled him forward.
Lisanna's vitality brought him a rare sense of lightness. Her youthful energy served as a cure for his boredom, and he also hadn't experienced being pulled along like this in a long time. He could feel the warmth and softness of Lisanna's small hand, which brought a smile to his heart.
After running for a while, Lisanna came to a stop.
Looking ahead, they indeed saw a valley, and at its center was a spectacular, vast lake. From their vantage point on the cliff, the water appeared clear and azure, like a fragment of the sky that had fallen to earth.
"It's so beautiful."
Lisanna gazed at the scenery before her, her eyes shining with admiration.
Feng Ye also approached the edge of the cliff and stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze appreciative as he looked forward. Compared to the landscapes of Soul Society and One-Punch Man, the scenery here was indeed much more beautiful.
Perhaps only Skypiea and Fishman Island from the world of One Piece, those fantastical lands, could rival the beauty of the setting of Fairy Tail.
Lisanna brought her hands together in front of her chest, her fingers interlacing, and a ripple of emotion passed through her eyes. After a moment, she turned to Feng Ye with a smile and said, "Brother Feng Ye, let's go down and take a closer look."
"Okay."
Feng Ye smiled agreeably and then gently waved his hand forward.
Whoosh!!!
A radiant arc of light extended from his palm, transforming into a rainbow-like bridge of light that stretched all the way down to the valley below.
Lisanna stood beside Feng Ye, her hands clutching his arms, her eyes filled with enchantment. She wished that time could stand still forever.
The view from within the valley offered a different perspective.
Looking down at the lake from above gave a sense of gazing at a corner of the sky, but standing at the edge of the amber waters and looking out, it felt like a swath of azure clouds spread out across the land.
"It's so beautiful," Lisanna marveled as she reached the lakeshore, her eyes sparkling with admiration. She gazed out across the water, her hands clasped behind her back, fingers intertwined.
Suddenly, she leaped into the air, flipped gracefully, and dove into the lake, creating a splash before disappearing beneath the surface.
Seconds later, ripples appeared on the water, and Lisanna popped her head out, flashing Feng Ye a cute smile. "Brother Feng Ye, let's swim together~"
Feng Ye shook his head with a laugh. "What about your wet clothes?"
Lisanna shrugged it off with a giggle. "You can use your magic to change my clothes, and you know how to dry them, too."
He recalled the times when Juvia had accidentally soaked his clothes, and how he would simply wave his hand to remove the water stains.
"You..." Feng Ye chuckled.
He also remembered a previous occasion when they had all gone to the beach together—a gift from a client after Wendy had completed a job. In the end, everyone had dragged him into the water, led by Mira and Lisanna.
"Come on, let's swim!" Lisanna insisted with a smile.
Just then, a dark shadow appeared beneath her feet without a sound, and with a splash, a massive catfish emerged and swallowed her whole.
"Honestly," Feng Ye sighed, shaking his head in exasperation. He pointed his finger and a beam of light pierced the giant catfish, pulling Lisanna out and depositing her safely on the shore.
Although startled, Lisanna knew that with Feng Ye around, there was nothing to fear. "This world has so many strange creatures," she remarked with a hint of annoyance.
"The diversity of life differs across worlds," Feng Ye explained with a smile. He waved his hand, infusing his magic into the lake, creating an overwhelming aura that affected all the creatures within.
The various fish in the lake, big and small, ceased their movements and trembled with instinctive fear, seeking refuge at the bottom of the lake.
"There, now it's safe," Feng Ye assured, sending the giant catfish back to the lake bed as well.
