Chapter 721: Mystogan's Astonishment
Chapter 721: Mystogan's Astonishment
"The king... His Majesty... He doesn't seem like a monster... He looks human, and I recognize those faces. They resemble the fugitives from Fairy Tail."
The captain of the Kingdom Army's Third Magic Squad spoke in a trembling voice, his eyes revealing his disbelief.
King Faust lay on the ground, his body trembling as he stammered, "Nonsense! How could the fugitives from Fairy Tail look like that? This... This is clearly... a monster... a gigantic monster..."
"No," contradicted the captain of the Fourth Magic Squad, his forehead beaded with cold sweat. "It's not like that. Look over there—isn't that Erza?"
As he spoke, everyone turned their eyes to a corner of the sky, where they saw another towering figure. Her crimson hair was shorter, but her face was unmistakably that of Erza.
Erza herself was looking down at the miniaturized kingdom, a hint of shock in her eyes as she regarded Feng Ye with a tremulous gaze.
Such power...
She couldn't believe that a human could possess such strength or that magic could achieve this. This went beyond human might; it was the power of a deity!
Was Feng Ye truly a god?
"Feng Ye," she whispered.
"Is this... mass magic?" asked Lisanna, her long hair swaying as her voice trembled slightly. She, too, was astonished by the sight of the entire kingdom reduced to the size of a palm. Even for her, this magic was too overwhelming, leaving her mind blank.
Lisanna had heard of this kind of magic, but it was typically used to alter the size of small objects. To shrink an entire nation was unimaginable. Just how immense was the magical power within Feng Ye?!
"Mhm," Feng Ye nodded, a casual smile on his face. "It's not a very profound magic."
After his response, he studied the kingdom in his palm, a thoughtful look on his face as he considered what to do with it.
At that moment, the people within the kingdom heard Feng Ye and Lisanna's conversation. Though the voices rumbled like thunder, they could make out the words.
The captain of the Fourth Magic Squad was drenched in sweat, his body trembling as he said, "It's not that they grew larger; we shrank. Our entire country has been reduced in size! But how is such magic possible in this world...?"
"... Divine power?" ventured the captain of the Third Magic Squad, his voice shaking.
Just then, Feng Ye seemed to come to a decision, his expression thoughtful. "Very well, let's do it this way."
As he spoke, he raised his hand and waved it forward. A golden spatial gate tore through the air, connecting the main world to Edolas.
The spatial gate opened onto a plain, revealing a small river. Sitting by the river was a cloaked figure, who had just drawn a magic wand from their back upon sensing the gate's presence.
"Who's there?!" the figure demanded, their voice sharp with alertness.
The figure was none other than Mystogan, the S-class mage of Fairy Tail and the Edolas version of Jellal. He was a prince of Edolas who disagreed with King Faust's methods and had traveled to Earth Land to stop the anima—the super archmage—and joined Fairy Tail.
"It's me, Mystogan," Feng Ye replied amiably through the spatial gate.
"Feng Ye?" Mystogan's eyes widened slightly as he recognized Feng Ye, his posture relaxing a little. A hint of confusion crept into his voice as he asked, "What brings you here?
"This is the capital of Edolas," Feng Ye explained. "Their super subspace magic affected Lisanna, so I came over to take a look. I ended up shrinking the entire capital with Mass Magic, and I thought it would be best to leave it to you to handle."
Feng Ye gave a slight nod and a courteous bow toward Mystogan.
This statement left Mystogan stunned for a moment.
He then looked down at the intricate model-like object in his hand with a shocked expression and asked, "You shrank the entire capital of Edolas? This is... unbelievable! How did you even do that?!"
Mystogan had heard of Mass Magic before, but shrinking an entire capital was beyond comprehension. Even the Sacred Ten Magicians probably couldn't pull off such a feat.
Feng Ye chuckled softly, "My magical power is a bit stronger, that's all. Anyway, I'll leave the rest to you. Since you have a way to return to Edolas, I'll leave it in your capable hands. I trust you'll handle it well."
As he finished speaking, Feng Ye closed the spatial gate.
"Wait..."
Mystogan called out as he watched the golden spatial gate disappear, but before he could finish his sentence, it had already vanished from sight.
His face stiffened, and he looked down at the miniature kingdom of Edolas in his palm, a headache already forming.
Being handed this responsibility was a bit much...
But it was indeed his duty to deal with it, and now he had to figure out what to do.
However, as he reflected on Feng Ye's display of power, he couldn't help but be amazed. With a single sword strike, mountains could be leveled, and an entire capital could be shrunk with magic.
"You're not just a simple S-class mage of Fairy Tail, are you, Feng Ye?"
Mystogan murmured, his eyes narrowing in thought. But after a moment, he took a deep breath and assured himself, "But I don't sense any hostility from you."
As perhaps the wisest member of Fairy Tail, he had a keen perception that surpassed even Laxus and Gildarts. His judgment of Feng Ye was different from the others, and he had long suspected that Feng Ye's identity was far from ordinary.
Yet, it was true that Feng Ye held no ill will toward Fairy Tail.
So, he hadn't bothered to investigate Feng Ye further.
"For now, I should focus on dealing with this situation," Mystogan sighed, turning his attention back to the miniature kingdom of Edolas in his hand.
...
Meanwhile, back at the original location of the Edolas capital, one could see a sunken depression where the entire city had once stood, as if a meteor had struck the earth.
After handing over the shrunken kingdom of Edolas to Mystogan and closing the spatial gate, Feng Ye clapped his hands together and said,
"Alright, that takes care of that."
"Do you want to stay and play in this world a little longer, Lisanna?"
Feng Ye turned to Lisanna and gave her a gentle smile.
Lisanna was still recovering from the shock of what had just transpired, and it took her a moment to process Feng Ye's question. "So, that person is the mysterious Mystogan? Why give it to him...?"
"Because he's from this world, and he's the prince of Edolas," Feng Ye replied casually. "Who better to handle it than him?"
