Chapter 72: Pikachu's Request
Chapter 72: Pikachu's Request
It was nearing noon.
Outside an appliance store, in a nearby restaurant,
"Everyone, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way."
The restaurant owner, wearing an apron, rubbed his hands and chuckled.
Miss Jenny nodded, "Thank you for your hard work."
Bang!
Before he could finish his sentence, the restaurant owner had already pushed open the sliding door and scurried away.
Although Electabuzz was already repairing the electrical box, no one knew if another explosion would occur or how big it would be. If not for Miss Jenny’s request, the owner would have left much earlier.
"Vulpix, I’ll leave this to you."
Jing He smiled and handed the cup to Ice Vulpix.
"Uw~"
As it hugged the cup and gently blew, the drink instantly turned icy cold.
"Amazing."
Jing He took the cup, praised it, and gently rubbed its head.
"Ou, ou~"
The little Vulpix let out a low whimper.
No, not really.
The swaying of its six tails showed that Jing He’s praise was very much appreciated.
Seeing this, Miss Jenny and the other officers followed suit.
One by one, cups were placed in front of the little Vulpix.
"Ou?"
The little Vulpix shrank back, afraid, toward Jing He.
"Helping others is its own reward," Jing He encouraged with a smile.
Hearing this, the little Vulpix hesitated for a moment before stepping forward and blowing on each cup one by one.
Soon, all the drinks were icy cold.
"I understand the logic, but it’s just so cute~"
"Thank you, little Vulpix, you’re so amazing!"
Hearing everyone’s praise, the little Vulpix’s head lowered, but its tails swayed even more.
"Teacher Jing He, little Vulpix is becoming more lively," Miss Jenny noted.
Because Jing He visited the Kanaz Police Station from time to time, she had seen little Vulpix change bit by bit.
Jing He smiled.
Little Vulpix’s control over its abilities was still lacking. Learning to control the cold breath to chill drinks without turning them to ice blocks was also a way to improve its control.
Of course, gradually facing more unfamiliar people and receiving their praise would also boost little Vulpix’s confidence.
On the other side,
Electabuzz’s Pikachu held a plug, with the red electric pouches on its cheeks releasing a weak current to keep the rice cooker working.
Ghastly quietly floated over and offered a "Persim Berry."
"Kak~ (Hungry?)"
Pikachu glanced at it and turned its head.
"Pi-ka~ (Can’t eat things from strangers!)"
"Kak? (Really?)"
Ghastly then took out a few Energy Orbs.
"Pi-ka pi-ka! (Unless I can’t resist!)"
Taking the Energy Orbs from Ghastly, Pikachu stuffed them into its mouth.
"Pi-ka-chu!!"
Seeing this, Ghastly let out a few cackles.
Jing He’s technique of "winning over the stomach" had been partially learned by Ghastly.
Since the conversation had started, Ghastly felt it was easier to proceed.
"Kak-kak~"
"Pi-ka pi-ka~"
"Kak~"
"Pi-ka."
"."
For Pokemon, besides what they eat every day, the biggest topic is probably their trainers.
And Ghastly naturally had nothing but praise for Jing He, who excelled in every aspect, especially in psychology, where he was in a league of his own!
Except for the occasional mysterious browsing records on his phone.
Pikachu, of course, was not to be outdone. It considered Electabuzz the best trainer it had ever seen, not only for his strong battle commands but also for his inventiveness.
Of course, there were also occasional things in the phone that Pikachu couldn’t understand.
But as they talked, Pikachu’s ears drooped.
In recent years, Electabuzz’s enthusiasm for battles had waned significantly.
No, it could even be said that he was somewhat averse to battles, which made the battle-loving Pikachu a bit uncomfortable.
"Kak~ (This is an illness, it needs to be treated.)"
Ghastly rubbed its chin.
"Pi, pi-ka? (Illness? How to treat it?)"
The word "illness" startled Pikachu.
Then, Ghastly slowly looked at Jing He.
Pikachu followed its gaze.
Him?
Ghastly’s eyes gleamed with a sly smile.
It patted Pikachu’s shoulder with its claw.
"Kak~ (Don’t worry, I’ll get you a friend’s price.)
Swish—
The sliding door was pushed open.
Denji, with his hands in his pockets and tools slung over his back, walked in.
"Pika~~"
Pikachu bounded over in two quick steps and leaped onto Denji's shoulder.
"Mr. Denji?" Nurse Joy stood up.
Denji raised an eyelid and slowly said, "It’s fine for now, but we’re short on parts. It’s best to replace the inverter later."
"Understood." Nurse Joy nodded.
They all sat down, and thanks to Pikachu’s efforts, the food was cooked.
Dinner was served.
During the meal, Denji added, "It’s likely an Electric-type Pokemon. I saw bite marks on some of the wires."
"That was our guess too."
Nurse Joy subtly glanced at Jing He and added, "I’ve already called my colleagues at the department. They are searching for it."
Hearing this, Denji didn’t say anything more.
"Kak~~"
After the meal, Gastly tugged at Jing He’s clothes, pulling him aside.
He briefly recounted his conversation with Pikachu.
"You’re serious?"
"Kak!"
"Nothing too outrageous, right? Like a lick? Just so you know, Denji’s Pikachu is male."
"Kak!!ヽ(`Д)」"
Am I that kind of ghost?
Gastly looked indignant.
Jing He quietly glanced toward Denji, meeting Pikachu’s eyes. Pikachu blinked at Gastly and Jing He.
Realizing Gastly wasn’t joking, Jing He rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
No, he was a Pokemon psychologist, not a regular psychologist. Could the complex human mind really be compared to the simple mind of a Pokemon?
Besides,
What was this about a Pokemon bringing its Trainer to a psychologist?
More importantly,
This was his own Pokemon bringing in a “patient.”
Jing He decided to go with the flow.
"It should be nearby."
Nurse Joy parked the car near a park. They could see a manhole cover opened by the roadside, with some charred spots on the ground.
"Pika!"
Denji’s Pikachu, looking serious, pointed toward a patch of trees in the park and called out. Electric arcs flickered on its cheeks.
Suddenly,
Buzz—
A golden electric arc shot out from the trees with a sizzling sound.
Denji instinctively threw a Poke Ball.
A flash of red light, and a Rhyperior-like Pokemon with a blue body covered in black fur, known as Raichu, appeared in front of the electric arc.
"Raichu, Thunder Fang!" Denji shouted.
Bang!!
Lightning exploded, and the splashing current left the trees charred.
"Roar!!"
Raichu took an offensive stance, its body glowing with electric arcs.
Denji frowned, not knowing who the opponent was, but Raichu’s X-ray eyes had already locked onto the target.
After a brief hesitation, Denji commanded:
"Raichu, Thunderbolt!"
"Roar—"
Raichu’s body glowed with intense electricity, and a golden current shot toward the trees.
To Denji’s surprise, Raichu’s attack seemed to vanish, not even making a sound.
His frown deepened.
"Pikachu, Raichu, another Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu jumped off his shoulder.
"Pika—chu!!"
"Roar!!"
Two currents, like golden lightning snakes, shot into the trees at lightning speed.
But this time, there was no sound at all.
What’s going on?
Even if the opponent is strong, there should be some noise, right?
At that moment, Jing He’s Pokedex identified the opponent.
His expression became slightly odd, and a hint of seriousness appeared in his eyes.
This might have something to do with the Ice Weavile.
Because the opponent was a Volcarona, accompanied by four Elgyem!
He stepped forward, and in Denji’s surprised gaze, he said calmly:
"Let me handle it."
