Chapter 717: The Third Dream
Chapter 717: The Third Dream
Why can't the year-end reward be Legendary Points?
Ivan thought greedily, while Harry, standing beside him, complained to Ron about having to return to the Dursleys for the summer as usual.
Clearly, the protective magic around him was almost ineffective, so there was no need to stay there anymore.
"Professor Dumbledore must have his reasons. What if that magic is still working?" Hermione speculated.
"But Voldemort confirmed it the other night. He touched me directly and didn't get hurt..." Harry said gloomily. "Voldemort told me that he wanted to use my blood to resurrect because he needed the protective power of blood magic, which would make him even more powerful..."
"But he still lost to Professor Dumbledore, didn't he?" Ron said lightly.
"Right! There's no point in dwelling on it. With Professor Dumbledore around, things will always work out!" Hermione added, trying to comfort him.
With their reassurances, Harry's mood improved, and he stopped thinking about the unpleasant matters.
Ivan watched the group chatting and shook his head inwardly. If they knew Dumbledore was likely not to survive this year, they might not be so optimistic.
Ivan was well aware of why Dumbledore insisted Harry stay with the Dursleys.
Although Voldemort had inherited some of the blood magic's power through the resurrection ritual, allowing him to touch Harry directly, he didn't realize that his actions would actually strengthen the protection even further. This meant that even after Harry came of age, the power of blood magic wouldn't fade...
Ivan even suspected that Voldemort's resurrection might have been a deliberate move by Dumbledore, perhaps even aided in secret.
Harry had mentioned that during their confrontation, he heard a voice guiding him, sounding very much like Dumbledore's.
Ordinary Priori Incantatem doesn't have that effect!
But this theory seemed shaky.
The situation was too urgent at the time. If Sirius Black and he had been a step slower, Harry would have died for sure!
Moreover, Dumbledore wouldn't have allowed Sirius Black and Mad-Eye Moody to be controlled by the Imperius Curse. The expressions on Dumbledore's face during their meetings didn't seem like an act.
As these thoughts raced through his mind, Ivan felt a headache coming on. He couldn't piece together the puzzle, so he decided to put it aside for now. He turned to Hermione and asked, "What about the notebook I gave you, Hermione?"
"Is this it? I always carry it with me!" Hermione rummaged through her magically expanded trunk and quickly pulled out a thick notebook.
"Have you finished reading it?" Ivan asked.
Hermione nodded. She had memorized the contents a month ago and kept it with her just for sentimental reasons.
After confirming with the young witch, Ivan took the notebook and tossed it to Harry. "Catch!"
"What is this? Some kind of mind-sealing magic?" Harry caught the heavy book, puzzled, and flipped it open. The pages were filled with instructions on how to conceal one's thoughts.
"Exactly, it's called Occlumency! Try to practice it over the summer and aim to master it by the start of the next term!" Ivan said.
"What's the point of it?" Harry asked, still confused.
"This magic can protect your mind from Voldemort's influence!" Ivan explained seriously.
Harry immediately understood.
But he soon faced a new problem: he couldn't use magic at home during the summer, as the Ministry of Magic could trace his spells through the Trace.
And he has already violated the rule twice. If it happens a third time, the Ministry of Magic will break his wand and expel him from Hogwarts.
Ivan thought about it and agreed. The Dursleys wouldn't tolerate Harry practicing magic at home, so he quickly changed his mind and told Harry to spend the summer memorizing these notes. After all, Dumbledore would likely have Snape teach Harry Occlumency when school started next year.
It's better to lay a solid foundation now, so he won't be behind when the time comes.
"All... memorize it?" Harry flipped through the hundreds of pages of notes in front of him, swallowing hard. He felt that this summer was going to be a busy one.
But in the end, Harry reluctantly agreed.
"By the way, if I master this magic, will I stop having those dreams?" Harry suddenly asked.
"As long as your Occlumency is proficient enough, you can prevent the Dark Lord from invading your mind!" Ivan replied confidently.
Harry's expression became conflicted. He opened his mouth as if to say something but then closed it again.
Ivan immediately guessed what he was thinking and shook his head, speaking up.
"I should have warned you, Harry! Never believe anything you see in your dreams, and don't try to use them for information! Voldemort is a master of Legilimency and Occlumency. I thought this time would have been a lesson for you—your information almost got you killed!"
If everything goes according to plan, Voldemort will soon have an Undercover Agent, one who is absolutely secret, even more hidden than Snape, and won't raise any suspicions.
So Ivan doesn't need Harry to provide unreliable information. If Harry gets tricked, it could lead to a trap, just like what happened in the original timeline.
Hermione also chimed in, "Ivan is right, Harry. Forget about those dreams! It's been proven that you only see what the Dark Lord wants you to see!"
Harry, who had wanted to say something, closed his mouth and sulked, lost in thought about his dream from the previous night. In that dream, he had turned into the snake again, and Voldemort's injuries had already healed...
This was much faster than anyone had expected!
In addition, he had seen Lucius, Macnair, and... Snape! The Death Eaters were gathered in a room, and Voldemort was furious, scolding them all, but he praised Snape alone. They seemed to be plotting their next move...
Everything in the dream was becoming increasingly blurry, and Harry couldn't tell if it was real or just a fabrication...
Choo-choo...
The sudden sound of the train's horn interrupted Harry's thoughts. He turned to look out the window, and the familiar Platform Nine and Three-Quarters was already in sight.
With a long whistle, the Hogwarts Express slowly came to a stop. They had arrived!
