Chapter 714: Don't Come Any Closer!
Chapter 714: Don't Come Any Closer!
The banquet ended amidst the clinking of cups and the bustle of camaraderie.
The morale of the Navy stationed at G-3 Fortress had reignited.
Yes, they were Navy, and they would always be Navy. As Navy, they had to fulfill their duties accordingly.
After a satisfying meal, everyone began their respective tasks.
In the kitchen, flames roared beneath the stove as a pot simmered. Ju Geng chopped vegetables nearby, researching new recipes. He occasionally glanced at the pot, then at the Great Bow hanging on the wall, a smile playing on his lips.
……
On a seaside training ground, Donald thrust his cross spear repeatedly, each strike precise and unwavering, though countless repetitions had long blurred into a blur.
Following Vice Admiral Kuro's guidance, he poured his heart and soul into each strike, aiming to grasp the "momentum" level.
Buzz!
His spear sliced through the air with a sharp whistle. Wiping sweat from his brow, he panted heavily, eyes fixed on the surging waves of the Grand Line.
"Next time", he murmured, "I won't let this happen again."
The evenly matched fight with Bexi had been thrilling but humiliating. After all, he had witnessed an entire ship sink. He should've crushed the pirate much faster!
……
"Ahhh—" Moer yawned in bed, rubbed his eyes, then closed them again.
But moments later, he sat up, scratched his head, and muttered, "Forget it, I'd better train. Without enough physical strength, I can't be a good messenger."
……
On the training ground, Kas and Wilbur stood side by side, watching the Navy train.
"Not enough! Still not enough! Train harder! To avoid repeating past humiliations, we must improve faster and better!" Kas bellowed.
"Exactly!" Wilbur joined in. "Mr. Kuro once said, 'Sweat more in training, bleed less in battle!' This means diligent training in peace brings stronger bodies and real power when combat comes!"
"Beautifully said, Wilbur!" Kas exclaimed, touched. "That book Justice Quotes—you've studied it deeper than me. Please share your insights whenever you have them!"
"No, no!" Wilbur countered. "Kas, you grasp the execution speed of Kuro's Justice better than me. When there's anything about physical strength and Justice, please include me!"
"Wilbur!"
"Kas!"
They clasped hands, shouting in unison: "Everything for Justice! Everything for Mr. Kuro!!"
……
Gurgle—gurgle—
In the Experiment Room, Fen Ni held a bubbling green vial, nodding thoughtfully.
"I see now! Adding this pathogen creates this effect. Ultimately, pathogens also have beneficial components. Separate those and apply them to medicine. But I need more testing. As an Epidemic Patient now, all diseases are ineffective against me. I can conduct experiments far beyond what I dared before!"
Excitedly, she added more reagents, intensifying the green bubbles. Faint laughter echoed from the lab.
……
Everyone trained—Ai En and Binz too. All subordinates directly recruited by Kuro, or their immediate subordinates, had been deeply moved by recent events. They needed strength to stand firm in the New World.
Sazil felt the same.
"Mr. Klah!"
In a training ground, Sazil grinned eagerly at Klah.
"Finally, another sparring match!"
"Hmm?" Klah raised an eyebrow. This guy always got beaten up—how could he say "finally"?
He couldn't understand Sazil's excitement, just as Kuro could never grasp his burdens.
"Whatever. Come on."
Klah narrowed his eyes, instantly shifting into his beast-warrior form. His claws shimmered with Haki.
"Eh?"
Sazil's excitement froze. "D-Do we need to transform? And use Haki?"
"Of course. You're a Devil Fruit user now. I must use abilities to fight one. Besides, you know Haki too. This is special training, not just beating you up. It's different."
Klah stepped forward. "I'll take this seriously."
"N-No way, wait Mr. Klah—don't come any closer!!"
……
Dressrosa.
Before the newly completed Palace, soldiers stood in neat rows, perfectly aligned and battle-ready.
On the balcony of the towering Palace, David stood in sleek armor, his helmetless face sharp with authority, surveying his troops below.
"Must we really do this?" Viola approached, now a married woman, her voice laced with concern. "This will provoke conflicts."
"It's the Lord's will", David replied without turning.
"Lord desires world peace. I can't guarantee that yet, but I'll start with localized peace."
He raised a small booklet. "As Lord said, 'Seeking peace through appeasement destroys peace; seeking peace through struggle preserves it.'"
"This Lord's Quotations—a gift from Commander Wilbur. Reading it daily reveals deep truths and Lord's grand vision."
"Lord desires world peace. As his knight, I must fulfill that wish. But world peace is too vast—first, we'll secure regional peace."
He waved a servant forward. "Have the maps and intelligence been prepared?"
"Yes, sir."
A servant bowed deeply, offering a rolled map.
David unrolled it. "The seas near G-3 involve many nations, whether World Government members or not. I've issued orders—submit to me, or perish. Dressrosa needs vast territories to contribute to world peace."
"Won't this cause problems at the World Conference?" Viola worried.
"Before the World Conference!" David declared. "Conquer them before the meeting. I'll lead personally. When the situation is settled at the conference, the World Government won't dare oppose me. Absolute strength brings absolute authority. A powerful nation turns even the World Conference into my domain!"
He clenched the map like swearing an oath. "Everything—fulfilling Lord's lifelong wish!"
