Chapter 713: The Kingdom Army's Ambush
Chapter 713: The Kingdom Army's Ambush
Edolas, too, was a world of magic, and its inhabitants had no trouble grasping the concepts of parallel universes and alternate realities. Thus, after hearing Feng Ye's brief explanation, Mira, Lucy, and the others quickly understood the situation.
Lucy regarded Lisanna with scrutiny. "So, you're Lisanna from another world. It's uncanny how identical you look to our Lisanna."
Wendy glanced at Lisanna and then turned to Mira. If this Lisanna wasn't their Lisanna, then that could only mean that their Lisanna was truly gone for good.
Their Lisanna had fallen off a cliff a week ago while being pursued by the Kingdom Army of this world. At that time, everyone was being chased, and no one could spare a moment to search for her. Moreover, the sheer height of the cliff left little chance of survival.
To have hope given and then taken away so abruptly was a cruel twist of fate.
"..."
Mira's eyes held a complex mix of emotions as she bit her lip.
For a fleeting moment, she had truly believed that her sister had returned. But reality was harsh; the person before them, though bearing the same name and appearance, had a different soul.
"Mira..."
Wendy, her eyes downcast, wanted to offer some comfort but noticed that tears were already welling up in Mira's gem-like eyes.
Mira wiped away her tears and forced a smile, trying to appear less distraught. "It's alright. Lisanna from your world is still Lisanna, and I'm glad to have met her."
"Big sister Mira..."
Lisanna looked at Mira.
Although her attire and demeanor were different from the sister she knew, their appearances were identical. And since it was a parallel world, it made sense that in this context, this Mira was indeed her sister.
After a brief hesitation, Lisanna turned hopeful eyes to Feng Ye. "Brother Feng Ye, can you tell me what happened to me in this world?"
In Lisanna's eyes, Feng Ye was the strongest and most versatile mage in Fairy Tail. She believed he could accomplish anything.
"I can't see her life trajectory," Feng Ye said, turning to Lisanna with a calm expression. "You don't have a connection to a parallel self in this world, which means that Lisanna from this world has likely..."
Feng Ye didn't finish his sentence, but Lucy, Mira, and Wendy could guess the grim conclusion. They clenched their fists and lowered their heads, a somber mood settling over the entire guild.
Just then, a deafening explosion rocked the building, shaking the ground and causing everyone to lose their balance.
The commotion startled Lucy, Mira, and the others, and cold sweat broke out on their foreheads. Their faces reflected their alarm.
"Oh no... This is bad!"
Even Naz looked frightened, his eyes darting upward. "We were so focused on Lisanna that we forgot to maintain our guard..."
As confusion spread through the guild, Lisanna looked around, slightly taken aback. "What's going on?"
"It's the Kingdom Army!" Lucy exclaimed, her face grim as she clenched her fists. "They've found us and pursued us here."
Mira took a deep breath and drew her weapon as she quickly explained to Lisanna, "In this world, the king declared the dissolution of all magic guilds four years ago, prohibiting anyone from practicing magic privately. We've been resisting, but their Kingdom Army is just too powerful. We've been defeated time and time again, and now we can only flee."
Without further ado, she rushed outside, leading the way.
Natsu, Gray, and the others grit their teeth and followed her out.
Mira brought up the rear, passing by Lisanna as she moved. She fixed her gaze on Lisanna and said solemnly, "Lisanna, you and Feng Ye aren't from this world, but the Kingdom Army will likely view you as enemies too. Stay hidden here and whatever you do, don't go out there!"
Lisanna and Feng Ye were members of Fairy Tail from their world, and in Mira's eyes, they were comrades. In this situation, with Lisanna and Feng Ye suddenly finding themselves in this crisis, it was only right that they protect them.
As Mira finished speaking, she quickened her pace and ran outside.
Lisanna watched this unfold with a slightly bewildered expression. The sounds of shouting and marching troops could be heard from outside, causing her expression to turn anxious.
She was unfamiliar with the situation in this world, but this Fairy Tail was still Fairy Tail, and the 'comrades' here were in danger. She couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
She took a deep breath and looked at Feng Ye.
Although she was weak and unlikely to be of much help in this perilous situation, Feng Ye was here too, and he was Fairy Tail's strongest mage!
"Don't worry, I'll help them," Feng Ye assured her with a gentle smile, patting her shoulder before striding out.
Lisanna felt slightly relieved by Feng Ye's words, but she still had a tinge of anxiety in her voice as she asked, "How strong are the people in this world, Feng Ye?"
This world had created something as advanced as hyperspace magic; could their magic be far more powerful than in her world? If so, even Feng Ye might be in danger.
Before she could voice her concern, Feng Ye anticipated her question and replied with a faint smile, "If you're wondering which world is stronger, I'd say this world is a low- to mid-tier magic world, while ours is a higher-tier one."
Lisanna's face lit up at Feng Ye's response, and she asked, "So, does that mean you're the strongest mage in this world, Feng Ye?"
"Mm-hmm," Feng Ye acknowledged with a casual smile, not elaborating further as he continued on his way.
Seeing this, Lisanna hurried after him, keeping pace as they walked outside together.
