Chapter 712: The Dark Lord Has No Heart
Chapter 712: The Dark Lord Has No Heart
Due to Fawkes' recent rebirth and the resulting decline in his power, the group had to Apparate to Hogsmeade first before returning to the school.
By the time they arrived, it was nearly ten o'clock in the evening. The castle was still brightly lit, and occasional bursts of noise echoed from the Great Hall.
Asia, Bill, and Molly were anxiously waiting outside the entrance hall. When they saw the group approaching, Mrs. Weasley immediately rushed forward, her face lighting up with relief.
"That's wonderful, it looks like you're all safe!" Mrs. Weasley hugged Harry and Ron tightly, her eyes scanning the group to ensure that no one was missing. Seeing that everyone was accounted for, she finally relaxed.
Meanwhile, Asia pulled Ivan aside to a corner, her eyes carefully examining him. Seeing that he looked well and showed no signs of injury, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She then quickly began questioning him about the details, though she had already gathered some information from Molly, it wasn't comprehensive enough.
"It was the Dark Lord! He had someone impersonate Sirius Black to kidnap Harry and used his blood to regain his strength, giving him a new body", Ivan explained with a grave expression.
"So, the Dark Lord has been resurrected?" A shadow of worry crossed Asia's face. Having lived through the last Wizarding War, she understood all too well what this meant.
"Yes, Professor Dumbledore and I managed to injure him. He should be more cautious for a while", Ivan replied.
Asia didn't feel any joy at the news that Ivan had injured the legendary Dark Lord. Instead, she became even more concerned, fearing that Voldemort would seek revenge once he recovered.
Ivan understood her concerns. He knew that rescuing Harry would draw Voldemort's attention, and even without this incident, he had long been a thorn in Voldemort's side. Over the past four years, he had destroyed three Horcruxes and avenged the betrayal of the two eggs. Voldemort would never forgive him.
Fortunately, he had already planned how to deal with this during the previous summer.
"Mom, do you remember the Magic I told you about last time?" Ivan asked suddenly.
Asia was taken aback for a moment but quickly grasped what he meant. "You mean the Fidelius Charm?"
"Exactly! We can use this Magic to create an absolutely safe hideout!" Ivan nodded.
Asia's worried expression eased considerably. She knew the power of the Fidelius Charm well. With it, even Voldemort would be unable to find them.
"But who will be the Secret-Keeper?"
Asia's brow furrowed as she considered the problem.
While the Fidelius Charm was incredibly powerful, it wasn't invincible. Its greatest weakness lay in the Secret-Keeper.
Ivan had mentioned this when he first told her about the Charm. The Secret-Keeper, burdened with the secret, couldn't stay in the Safe House for long periods, as this would weaken the protective magic.
If Voldemort were to investigate the area while the Secret-Keeper was away, he might discover some clues.
Therefore, the Secret-Keeper would have to spend most of their time outside, constantly at risk of being pursued.
This was why, over a decade ago, Peter, who served as the Secret-Keeper for James and Lily, had to hide elsewhere rather than live with them.
Precisely because of this, to avoid repeating past mistakes, the Secret-Keeper must be a powerful and truly trustworthy Wizard. Otherwise, if they betray or are killed, the secret location could be exposed.
At this stage, there are very few powerful and trustworthy Wizards. Although she and Ivan meet all the requirements, they are not suitable to be the Secret-Keeper, as the purpose of using the Fidelius Charm to create a Safe House is to protect their own safety...
“What about having Dawgert be the Secret-Keeper?” Asia hesitated and suggested.
“No, absolutely not!” Ivan firmly shook his head.
After the Dark Lord's resurrection, Dawgert's stance became ambiguous, and his trustworthiness is still questionable.
After all, this guy has a history of betraying his colleagues to join Voldemort. No matter how many reasons there are, this fact cannot be completely erased!
So Ivan has no trust in him at all. The Dark Mark on Dawgert's left arm hasn't been removed yet, which is a significant instability factor!
If it weren't for the fact that Ivan didn't see Dawgert among the Death Eaters during tonight's rescue of Harry, he would have been discussing with Asia how to lock him up...
“Why don't you do this, Mom. You look for a suitable place in Knockturn Alley over the next few days, and I'll handle the casting myself...” Ivan hesitated for a long time before finally deciding to take on this risk.
However, before he could finish, Asia strongly opposed him.
“You want to be the Secret-Keeper? Have you gone mad? The Dark Lord wants to kill you the most!” Asia said angrily, even if she were to take on the role of the Secret-Keeper, it would be better than Ivan doing it.
“The Dark Lord isn't as powerful as you think. He can't kill me, Mom. Haven't you forgotten? I just drove him away!” Ivan tried to reassure her, somewhat helplessly.
In fact, Ivan has never been worried about his own safety. While he isn't Voldemort's match in terms of power, Ivan is confident that he can escape Voldemort's pursuit if he isn't burdened.
Not to mention, he has blood magic and the Boggart transformation, which allows him to disguise himself as anyone, even any creature. Voldemort would have a hard time catching him.
After Ivan spent over ten minutes persuading her, Asia finally reluctantly agreed.
Given the current situation, this is the best plan. Since Ivan spends most of the year at Hogwarts, where Dumbledore is, Voldemort wouldn't dare to cause trouble. During the summer, he can go to Nicolas Flamel to study Alchemy...
At least, these places are considered safe by Asia.
As the two were discussing, Molly Weasley and the others were listening to Harry and Sirius Black recount the events.
Upon learning that Harry was tortured by Voldemort with the Cruciatus Curse and nearly hit by the Killing Curse, Mrs. Weasley almost lost control of her emotions. She spoke with a trembling voice, “Oh, heavens! How could he... How could he have the heart to use such a vicious spell on a child... That’s truly terrifying!”
“The Dark Lord has no heart, Mom...” Ron interjected, but he was quickly given a stern look by Mrs. Weasley.
