Chapter 709: What You Do Will Only Hasten Your Own Demise
"Indeed! It's been a few years! Four years ago, you thwarted my resurrection plan, but unfortunately for you... this time I have won!" Voldemort said with a tone of triumph, a look of satisfaction on his face.
"My loyal followers executed the brilliant plan I devised, bringing Harry Potter out from under your protection!"
"See, I have truly conquered death and obtained a new body. Now, no one can stop me... not even you, Dumbledore!"
Voldemort spoke with a venomous edge, his blood-red eyes fixed on Dumbledore, hoping to see a look of regret and remorse on his face.
But there was none. Dumbledore only looked at him with profound disappointment and then spoke in a solemn tone.
"I believe I warned you once, Tom. Blind optimism can rob a person of their basic judgment. What you have done will only hasten your descent into the abyss of death..."
"Save your preaching, Dumbledore!" Voldemort interrupted harshly. "If you think a few words can sway me, you're wasting your breath! Or perhaps... you're trying to cover up your mistakes?"
"Mistakes? That's not an unreasonable assumption. Your use of the Imperius Curse to control Alastor and Sirius Black did catch me off guard..." Dumbledore said, lifting his wand with his left hand. "But I believe it's not too late to rectify this error!"
"Kill me? Here? With all these liabilities?" Voldemort sneered.
"Liabilities? Do you really think so, Tom? You should never underestimate anyone..." Dumbledore said with a meaningful tone. "If I'm not mistaken, you've already faced some setbacks, haven't you?"
Voldemort immediately recalled the series of failures in the graveyard, his face darkening and contorting with anger.
"Then let's see if you're right!" Without any warning, Voldemort raised his wand, but his target was not Dumbledore. Instead, it was Sirius Black, who was standing not far from him.
"Avada Kedavra!"
A dark green beam flashed through the air. Sirius Black, completely unprepared for Voldemort's sudden attack, reacted instinctively but it was too late!
Fortunately, a golden flame appeared in front of Sirius Black, and Fawkes emerged from the flame, swallowing the green beam whole. Then, Fawkes was enveloped in flame and fell to the ground, transforming into a wrinkled chick.
At the same moment Voldemort attacked, Dumbledore launched his own assault. A crimson-gold beam shot from the tip of his wand, carrying immense energy as it soared through the air, striking Voldemort directly.
Ivan and the others felt a chill run down their spines at the sight.
Voldemort's face grew serious as he conjured a shimmering silver shield to protect himself. The golden beam collided with the shield, causing it to explode in a burst of fire and energy.
The flames and shockwaves spread in all directions, the deafening boom echoing through the desolate mountains. The sturdy silver shield began to crack.
But Voldemort had no time to spare. A sense of intense danger enveloped him, and the attack was coming from behind. Without turning to look, he vanished from his spot in a flash.
He had barely left when a Wooden Giant's Hand descended from the sky.
At some point, the towering tree beside Voldemort had transformed, now appearing as a massive Wooden Giant!
Compared to the crude Tree Creature in the graveyard, this one was more solid and lifelike. Its thick branches had morphed into human-like arms, and it even had two legs for rapid movement...
When the fire and dust cleared, Voldemort was nowhere to be seen.
Ivan and the others all gripped their wands tightly, their eyes scanning the surroundings, not daring to let their guard down for a moment.
Previous encounters had already proven that Voldemort could use Apparition freely during battles!
Suddenly, Harry, who was at the back, let out a heart-wrenching scream. The pain in his scar was so intense that it felt like it was about to split open.
Sirius Black instinctively turned to look at Harry, but a shout rang in his ear.
"Get out of the way, he's behind you, Sirius Black!"
It was Ivan's voice, and Sirius Black recognized it immediately. Without hesitation, he rolled away from the Killing Curse aimed at him, but Harry, who had been under his protection, was now defenseless.
Harry was kneeling on the ground in agony, clutching his head, while Voldemort appeared in front of him, his pale, bloodless hand reaching for Harry's neck.
"Reducto! (Sectumsempra)" Ivan waved his wand, and a beam of light shot towards Voldemort, trying to force him away from Harry.
But Voldemort paid no attention; the spell passed through him, and his hand was already touching Harry's body.
Harry was in so much pain that he almost lost consciousness. He could only watch helplessly as Voldemort's twisted face drew closer. In the distance, he thought he heard a sound, and then he felt a violent tug on his back, sending him flying into Dumbledore's arms.
Voldemort watched helplessly as Dumbledore used a Summoning Charm to pull Harry away, feeling a twinge of disappointment.
However, he had no intention of pursuing. This attack had exposed his position, turning him from the hunter into the hunted...
In the split second that followed, Ivan directed the Unicorn Shadow, which had been ineffective until now, towards Voldemort.
Sirius Black also launched another Killing Curse at Voldemort!
Once again, the Killing Curse was ineffective. Voldemort simply waved his wand, summoning a piece of broken wood to block it.
The approaching Unicorn Shadow, however, made Voldemort frown. He tried to Apparate away, but a brief sensation of being bound interrupted his casting.
Petrificus Totalus!
Through the ethereal form of the Unicorn, Voldemort clearly saw Dumbledore's Elder Wand pointing at him.
Although he quickly broke the spell and regained his ability to move, the brief delay prevented Voldemort from Apparating a second time...
