Chapter 709: Authorization
Chapter 709: Authorization
About half an hour later, Chen Chuan emerged from the Wu Yi Academy, and outside, numerous vehicles from the Processing Bureau were parked, with the square filled with the bureau's personnel. Upon seeing him, they all saluted respectfully.
From this moment on, every member of the Processing Bureau present would be strictly bound by the terms of the agreement. All external communications and actions would be monitored by An Dun, and any violation would result in immediate and severe punishment. This ensured that specific information would not leak out within these few hours.
Chen Chuan was about to return to the Processing Bureau first, hoping to investigate the matter during this period.
A duty officer opened the door of the designated vehicle for him. Before getting in, he turned back to take one last look at the Huan Gong Tower, but it was empty, with no trace of the previous red shadow. However, a red scarf fluttered around his neck.
He turned his head and entered the vehicle, and the door closed. Soon after, the convoy started moving towards the Processing Bureau.
Eight or nine minutes later, just as they were about to reach the Processing Bureau, Chen Chuan suddenly heard a 'ding' notification sound from the Boundary Token.
He glanced at it and saw that it was a message from Wen Zhuguan, scheduled to be sent at a specific time. He raised an eyebrow, opened it, and as he read the content, his expression gradually became more solemn.
After considering for a while, he contacted An Dun, "An Dun, has Wen Zhuguan returned?"
An Dun replied, "Wen Zhuguan is currently executing a confidential mission, and the content cannot be accessed. There has been no response transmitted back yet."
Chen Chuan asked further, "Was Han Zhuguan in White Bird District yesterday?"
An Dun answered, "Yes, since 5:00 PM yesterday, Han Zhuguan, as the primary security officer, has been in White Bird District, ensuring the safety of various political figures from different departments. He hasn't left there until now."
Chen Chuan fell into deep thought.
After a while, the car had returned to the Processing Bureau and stopped in the square.
Chen Chuan sat for a moment, then pushed the door open and strode into the Processing Bureau. Just like when he left earlier, the personnel in the hall were still sparse. Upon seeing him, they hurriedly stood up straight and saluted.
He took the elevator directly to the upper floors, and entered his office. After checking the time, he brewed a cup of tea and sat there, waiting.
It was 3:00 AM when he reached out and picked up the phone on the desk, dialing a number.
Someone on the other end seemed to be waiting, as the phone rang only twice before it was answered, "Hello, this is Shao Xinquan."
Chen Chuan said, "Executor Shao, this is Chen Chuan."
"Director Chen!" The voice on the other end immediately became more enthusiastic.
Chen Chuan continued, "Wen Zhuguan sent me a message earlier, saying that if it's past 3:00 AM and he hasn't returned or sent any information, it means his mission has failed. He left a message asking me to contact you."
Shao Xinquan seemed to be suppressing his emotions, saying, "Yes, Wen Zhuguan instructed me before he left. He said... He said..." Shao struggled to steady his voice and spoke solemnly, "...he said that if there's no news, then all personnel and actions will be under your command, Director Chen."
Chen Chuan said, "Then, from this moment on, I will take over the command of all your personnel. Please be prepared to follow my orders at any time."
"Yes!"
After the response, Shao Xinquan added, "Director Chen, I have some items that Wen Zhuguan gave me before he left. He said that if you contact me, I should hand these items over to you. Do you need me to send someone to pick them up?"
"Thank you, Director Chen. I'm nearby and will be there shortly."
Shao Xinquan was in Wu Ding District, and after about ten minutes, he returned to the bureau and met with Chen Chuan. He handed over a briefcase he had been carrying.
Chen Chuan opened it carefully and went through all the documents and recordings inside, gradually piecing together the full picture of what had happened.
In reality, even if he hadn't left the Wu Yi Academy today, knowing these things would have been useless, as these items wouldn't have had a chance to appear at that time.
Chen Chuan asked Shao Xinquan to return and await orders, then tapped the Boundary Token.
After a while, a mature and steady voice came from the token, "This is Zou Jinhang."
Chen Chuan said, "Captain Zou, this is Chen Chuan. I need you to gather all available personnel immediately. Is that possible?"
Zou Jinhang replied without hesitation, "No problem."
"Alright, then."
In an on-duty office in Wu Ding District, Zou Jinhang tossed away his cigarette and tapped the Boundary Token.
"Brothers, Director Chen has called us. Xu Zhuguan said before he left that during his absence, we should follow Director Chen's instructions. Don't let me down at a critical moment! Anyone who causes trouble will answer to me!"
At this moment, Chen Chuan walked out of his office, heading towards the elevator along the corridor. He continued upwards until he reached the top of the building.
After exiting the elevator, he made his way to Wu Ju's office. Since Wu Ju was being interrogated, he wasn't there. Chen Chuan walked up to the door and took out a key, inserting it to unlock the door.
An Dun's voice sounded at this moment, "Director Chen, Wu Ju has granted you permission to enter the office. Please go in."
Chen Chuan pushed open the door and entered the room, walking towards the desk. He noticed a document and an envelope placed on the table.
He picked up the document first and glanced at it, noticing the signatures at the back. He paused for a moment, then said, "An Dun, scan and file this."
"Understood, Chen Chuan," An Dun replied.
Chen Chuan then picked up the envelope, opened it, and found a piece of paper with a series of passwords written on it. These passwords could grant him temporary highest-level access to An Dun's system.
He immediately recited the passwords to An Dun.
An Dun's voice responded, "Chen Chuan, the passwords you provided match the preset ones. After verification, the personnel identity, voiceprint, and bio-field signatures are all consistent. Your access level has been temporarily elevated to the highest level. Please wait for a moment, and a phone call will come through shortly."
Chen Chuan's heart stirred, and he stood still, waiting quietly. After two minutes, the secure line phone on Wu Ju's desk rang.
Chen Chuan reached out, picked up the receiver, and heard a familiar voice: "Chen Chuan."
Recognizing the voice, Chen Chuan asked, "Commissioner Cao?"
Commissioner Cao spoke in a low voice, "Chen Chuan, I have some information to convey to you, some of which I'm delivering on behalf of others, and some of which are my own. The situation is as follows..."
Chen Chuan listened carefully for about six to nine minutes, then replied, "Okay, I understand, Commissioner Cao. I'd appreciate your department's cooperation in this matter."
After ending the call, he put down the phone, thought for a moment, then picked up another phone on his desk and began contacting various relevant personnel.

Upon finishing his calls, Chen Chuan returned to his office, took down his peaked hat from the coat rack, put on his windbreaker, grabbed the Snow Lady Sword, and strode out with determination.
At that moment, the business negotiation meeting in the White Bird District was still ongoing. Over an hour later, around five o'clock, the meeting finally concluded.
After most of the dignitaries and negotiators had left, someone approached Han Guanli and whispered a few words in his ear.
Han Guanli instructed the person beside him to take over the remaining tasks, then he headed outside. As he walked through a secure corridor, his figure disappeared from the field of view of the surveillance system for about half a minute until he emerged from the other end of the corridor.
Exiting through the main entrance of the conference hall, he saw his dedicated vehicle waiting, with the attendant standing by the open car door. Chen Chuan stood there, looking out.
The conference hall was situated on high ground, facing the entire central city, and the morning light shone from behind, bathing the square in a mix of shadows and brightness.
In the square, there were high-ranking officials departing in their secure vehicles, delegations walking in pairs and being escorted, and fully armed security personnel saluting him.
At that moment, Chen Chuan felt as if he were overlooking them all. He reached out as if to grasp something, but quickly retracted his hand, adjusting his peaked hat, and descended the steps.
He entered his vehicle, and as he sat down, he frowned slightly, touching his right arm before letting go.
"Back to the Processing Bureau," he said.
The convoy set off, driving out of the square and heading back to the central city district.
After about half an hour, the convoy reached the Fei Hong Bridge. During this time, Han Guanli remained expressionless, gazing ahead.
He tapped his communication token and asked, "An Dun, is there anything happening at the Processing Bureau?"
An Dun replied, "Han Guanli, everything is normal at the bureau."
Han Guanli paused, then asked, "Have you seen Chen Chuan?"
An Dun responded, "Chen Chuan came to the bureau yesterday afternoon and left at 11:30. Since then, there has been no further communication between Chen Chuan and the bureau. Do you wish to contact him?"
Han Guanli didn't answer directly, as if considering something. After a moment, he said, "No need."
At this moment, he noticed the convoy had already descended from the Fei Hong Bridge and was about to drive towards the road leading to the Wei Guang District. Suddenly, he felt a sense of unease and instructed, "Don't take this route. Change direction."
He didn't explain why, but the entire convoy turned onto another road, which, if followed, would lead to the Wei Guang District.
After the convoy had driven for about half an hour, Han Guanli asked again, "An Dun, any news from the bureau?"
An Dun's response was as usual, "In the past hour, everything has been normal at the bureau. There are some scattered security updates. Do you want them transferred to your communication token?"
Han Guanli replied, "No need."
At this point, the driver in front spoke up, "Sir, we're approaching the Wei Guang District. Are we heading to the Administrative Hall or the Municipal Parliament?"
Han Guanli glanced ahead and quickly said, "Change course. Back to the Processing Bureau."
The driver didn't ask further questions and immediately turned the steering wheel, leading the entire convoy to change direction once again towards the Wu Ding District.
