Chapter 708: Long Time No See, Tom!
Chapter 708: Long Time No See, Tom!
The Great Serpent formed from Dark Fog slithered closer, its negative emotions becoming increasingly intense in their minds.
Ivan and Sirius Black were still holding up, but the already weakened Harry was struggling. He stumbled during their run, and if Sirius Black hadn't been holding him, Harry would have tumbled down the mountain.
"Harry! Are you okay?" Sirius Black asked, worried.
Harry panted heavily, shaking his head. He didn't have the strength to reply, feeling as if his legs were about to give out.
Ivan knew they couldn't keep this up. They couldn't outrun the Dark Fog with just their legs.
If he were alone, Ivan could have escaped Voldemort's grasp and even engaged in a brief struggle using Bloodline Magic. But protecting everyone else made it an incredibly difficult task.
He turned his head and saw the Great Serpent, which was several dozen feet long, getting closer. The snake's head was wide open, as if ready to swallow them whole, and the Dark Fog inside the snake's mouth faintly revealed Voldemort's grotesque, snake-like face.
Ivan, who had once battled a Horcrux, dared not let the Dark Fog get too close. He immediately waved his wand and shouted, "Expecto Patronus!"
Blinding white light cut through the darkness, followed by a sharp, clear neigh echoing through the desolate mountains. A dense white mist poured out of Ivan's wand, quickly forming a phantom Unicorn that charged into the snake's mouth, wreaking havoc inside its long body.
To Ivan's surprise, Voldemort did not engage the Unicorn Shadow with the Dark Fog like his Horcrux had. Instead, the massive Dark Fog Great Serpent disintegrated instantly, and the Dark Fog surged forward like a tidal wave, pressing down on the three of them.
Ivan's face turned grave. He quickly recalled most of the white mist, forming a semicircular shield around them to protect everyone.
The Dark Fog "wave" crashed down, and upon contact with the shield, they began to dissolve each other. The thick shield grew thinner under the corrosive Dark Fog.
Ivan had already expended a significant amount of his strength during the third match, and the transformations into the Tree Creature, the use of the Magic Eye, and the Apparition to bring everyone here had drained his Magic reserves.
Without sufficient Magic to support it, his Patronus Charm was no match for the Dark Fog.
Harry and Sirius Black also quickly cast their Patronuses, but without the enhancement of Bloodline Magic, their Patronus Charms were extremely fragile, lasting only a few seconds before dissipating.
Ivan felt his shield was on the verge of collapse.
"Get ready, we might have to move again! Sirius Black, take Harry and go first. I'll catch up!"
Harry was worried about leaving Ivan behind, but he knew he was a burden. He opened his mouth to speak but ultimately said nothing.
Sirius Black nodded solemnly, wasting no time and grabbing Harry's hand to prepare for Apparition.
Although using Apparition in the middle of a battle was extremely dangerous and could result in death, the situation left no room for hesitation. Sirius Black could only hope that luck would be on their side once more!
At this moment, Ivan, who was maintaining the protective Magic, suddenly found that the pressure he had been bearing had significantly decreased. The Dark Fog surrounding them was slowly dissipating.
Sirius Black, who also noticed the anomaly, stopped Casting and a hint of joy appeared on his face. Voldemort had no reason to let them go, which likely meant that the reinforcements they had been waiting for had finally arrived!
Sure enough, a ethereal celestial melody soon reached their ears. The sound grew louder, and before long, a Phoenix enveloped in flames burst out of the Dark Fog.
"It's Fawkes!" Harry exclaimed with delight.
Ivan and Sirius Black also breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the Phoenix. They knew they were safe now.
Fawkes let out a joyful cry upon seeing the three of them, and the flickering golden-red flames around them exploded outward.
The endless fire filled Ivan's vision, and the warm flames enveloped their bodies, instantly dispelling the chill brought by the Dark Fog.
Ivan thought Fawkes had come to take them away, but it didn't. When the firelight faded, they were still in the same place.
Fawkes had transformed into a massive Flame Phoenix and was now engaging in a fierce battle with the Dark Fog-formed Great Serpent in the air.
The Great Serpent twisted its body viciously, its massive jaws clamping down on the Flame Phoenix's wings and tearing at them with all its might. Its long, sinuous body coiled around the Phoenix.
The Flame Phoenix, undeterred, pecked at the Great Serpent's head with its beak and clung to the snake's tail with one claw. Strands of golden "feathers" continuously fell, burning into the Great Serpent's body and creating numerous craters.
Ivan watched the battle in the air, unable to tell who had the upper hand. He knew that with their two Magics, it would take a while to determine a winner.
"Expecto Patronum~ (Expecto Patronum)" Ivan was worried that Dumbledore might be in a poor state and could lose, so he summoned his Patronus to intervene in the battle!
The Unicorn appeared with an angry neigh, its previous defeat making Cecilia's Soul extremely displeased. It immediately raised its horn and charged at the Dark Fog Great Serpent.
However, before it could get close, the Great Serpent, realizing it was no match, dissolved into a cloud of Dark Fog...
The victorious Flame Phoenix didn't pursue, instead transforming into a fireball and plummeting to the ground. In the burst of flames, Dumbledore's figure emerged.
He stood before the three, the heat wave from the flames causing his robe to flutter and his long silver beard to be blown by the wind. But Dumbledore paid no attention to these, his gaze fixed on the spot not far ahead.
A large amount of Dark Fog was rapidly converging there, eventually forming a figure. It was Voldemort!
The two stood facing each other, a subtle sense of oppression emanating from both of them. Harry and Sirius Black were so overwhelmed by the clash of their auras that they couldn't even speak.
Ivan fared a bit better, feeling only a slight discomfort...
"Long time no see, Tom!" Dumbledore greeted Voldemort calmly, as if they were not about to engage in a life-or-death battle but were simply having a casual meeting.
