Chapter 705: Lu Jiaxin's Side Story 9
Chapter 705: Lu Jiaxin's Side Story 9
Lu Jiaxin had brought the child to the Capital City. The temperature here was around 20 degrees Celsius during the day, quite comfortable, but the temperature difference was significant, so one had to be mindful of adding a layer of clothing to avoid catching a cold.
As soon as they returned to Shichahai, Honggu noticed Lu Zhao's beaming smile, "The little miss and your niece look like they were carved from the same mold."
Upon hearing this, Lu Jiaxin couldn't help but laugh. Her relatives and friends here all said the child resembled her, while Nie Zhan's side insisted the child took after him. In fact, the child's face shape and mouth resembled Lu Jiaxin, while the eyes and nose were like Nie Zhan's, a combination of their best features.
After chatting for a while, Lu Jiaxin asked the babysitter to take the child to play in the rear garden, while she went with Honggu to see Gu Xiuxiu. As Gu Xiuxiu was ill and coughing, they were afraid of infecting the child, so they didn't dare bring her along, as it would be troublesome if the child fell sick.
When Lu Jiaxin entered the room, Gu Xiuxiu was lying on the bed watching TV. Whether she understood what she was watching was another matter, but her expression was very focused.
Gu Xiuxiu had completely lost her mind and could no longer control her bodily functions. As a result, they had hired two additional caregivers, and six caregivers were divided into three shifts to take care of her. Honggu and Meigu only needed to keep an eye on these caregivers, and they didn't have to personally attend to Gu Xiuxiu, as their advanced age made it physically demanding.
Seeing Gu Xiuxiu in this state, Lu Jiaxin felt a surge of emotions, "Auntie, if she wants anything, just buy it for her, and if she wants to do something, take her to do it."
Meigu nodded and said, "We've been making the dishes and pastries she likes, and we give her fruit three times a day. But now, she doesn't know how to control her eating, so we have to measure the portions each time."
In terms of food, clothing, and daily necessities, the Capital City might fall short compared to the Port City, mainly because it was challenging to purchase top-quality imported ingredients and fruits here. As for clothing and daily use items, they were all of the highest quality.
Seeing that Gu Xiuxiu was ignoring her, Lu Jiaxin stayed for less than three minutes before leaving. Once outside, she asked, "Auntie Meigu, I want to bring Auntie back to the Port City."
Upon hearing this, Meigu immediately shook her head and said, "Miss, Auntie is used to living here, and changing environments might not suit her."
Then, she added, "When Auntie had a fever, we took her to the hospital for an injection, but she was so restless that she pulled out the needle. We had no choice but to ask a doctor to come to the house to give her the injection."
Hearing this, Lu Jiaxin couldn't help but feel worried, "What if she needs to go to the hospital in the future?"
Other places could be avoided, but as one aged, the hospital was an inevitable destination. With such lack of cooperation, how would she receive treatment for any future ailments?
Meigu couldn't provide an answer, as this problem seemed unsolvable.
After returning to the courtyard for a while, Qian Xiaoxiao came in and informed Lu Jiaxin that Lu Hongjun had arrived. Before returning, Lu Jiaxin had told Lu Jiaguang that she would be back for a visit but didn't specify the exact time.
Upon seeing each other, Lu Jiaxin asked Lu Hongjun, "How did you know I was coming back?"
Lu Hongjun explained, "These past few days, I've been coming here every afternoon, and I didn't expect you to actually arrive today. Jiaxin, where's the child?"
He had seen the child during the full moon celebration when he visited the Port City, but hadn't seen her since. After all, she was his granddaughter, the one who would carry on the family lineage, and his affection for her was extraordinary.
Although Lu Jiaxin didn't like him, she still hoped that Zhaozhao would grow up in a loving environment, "I had someone take her to play in the garden."
Upon hearing this, Lu Hongjun immediately went to the garden.
Lu Jiaxin didn't bother to follow and sat down to make a phone call. Returning to the Capital City, she had to inform her older brother and Aunt Su. Knowing that Su Heming had just returned to the Capital City, she immediately called him.
Su Heming, aware of his presence in the Capital City, asked, "Which day are you coming?"
Lu Jiaxin hesitated, "Maybe the day after tomorrow, or perhaps I'll stay a few extra days."
Su Heming assured her, "The new car we're testing at the factory will have its results ready in the next two days. Jiaxin, I'll reserve the first car for you."
After entering the automotive factory, Su Heming immersed himself in his work, shedding his usual carefree and mischievous demeanor. When dealing with others, he now appeared reliable and trustworthy. It seemed that finding a passion and purpose could truly transform a person.
The factory produced tractors, vans, tricycles, motorcycles, and other vehicles that were well-received, but their cars weren't as popular. However, this was about to change in April with the release of a new car model. Su Heming boasted to her that this new car was no less impressive than any domestic or foreign-invested car model in the country. He was certain that once it hit the market, demand would outstrip supply.
Lu Jiaxin didn't refuse, "Sure, reserve the first and second cars for me."
The automotive factory was initially a joint venture, but now she and Su Heyuan owned eighty percent of the shares. This was mainly because Lu Jiaxin had purchased much of AZLK's equipment and invited over a dozen experts to the factory. The existing experts and master craftsmen at the factory highly respected these new experts. Lu Jiaxin had arranged for the families of these experts to reside in the Port City.
Su Heming was busy and ready to end the call, "If I don't make it back, I'll visit Zhaozhao when I return to the Port City."
Hearing him mention Zhaozhao, Lu Jiaxin couldn't help but say, "Last month, when your father was sick, I visited him at the hospital. He begged me to persuade you to find a partner soon. He's afraid that he won't live to see you married and with children before he passes away. He's worried he won't be able to give your mother peace in the afterlife."
She didn't like interfering in others' personal lives, but with Su's father's tearful plea, she couldn't refuse. However, she would only offer a few words of encouragement and wouldn't say more.
Su Heming's brief words reassured her, "A few days ago, my aunt introduced me to a girl through a mutual acquaintance. Her appearance and personality suit me well, and we're currently getting to know each other. But since we haven't defined our relationship, I don't want to tell them yet, to avoid their urging me to marry."
With his family constantly urging him and seeing his father aging, he didn't want to worry them further. Of course, he wasn't one to compromise his own happiness. The girl he had his eye on met all his expectations, and most importantly, they had a great connection. However, Su Heyuan's past romantic experiences had made him cautious. He needed to understand the girl's temperament and family background before committing. For him, once a relationship was established, marriage wouldn't be far off.
Not long after the call ended, Lu Jiaguang arrived. Upon seeing Lu Jiaxin, he immediately asked, "Where's the child? Where is he?"
Hearing that the child was in the rear garden, Lu Jiaguang turned and left immediately. The child was almost a year old, and he hadn't even seen him yet. He had only heard from his wife and Third Uncle that the child was healthy and intelligent. Upon receiving Lu Jiaxin's call, he had rushed over in a car, as his position entitled him to a dedicated vehicle.
Lu Jiaxin watched his departing figure, feeling amused and a bit envious. It seemed that with the arrival of the child, she had lost some of her attention.
That evening, Xie Kaixiao arrived, and the two of them discussed in the study for nearly three hours. When they finally emerged, Lu Jiaxin's throat was hoarse.
Qian Xiaoxiao handed her a cup of freshly brewed chrysanthemum tea, saying with a smile, "Sister Jiaxin, every time you finish a meeting with Secretary Xie, it's like you've fought a battle."
Lu Jiaxin chuckled, thinking that 'battle' was an exaggeration, but she did feel exhausted after every meeting with Xie Kaixiao. Yet, she was willing to endure the fatigue.
