Chapter 704: Adventure Plan
Chapter 704: Adventure Plan
The next morning, Ryan and the others got up early to prepare breakfast. As they quickly finished cooking and set the food on the table in the Great Hall, Rose Crystal floated in the air, bringing the girl from the previous day with her.
"Thank you for saving me yesterday", the girl said politely, bowing to Ryan and the others. "It's nice to meet you. My name is Hilda."
Seeing Hilda's demeanor, Liam guessed that Rose Crystal must have already introduced her to their situation. That was why she thanked them as soon as she arrived.
"Liam." "Hermione." Ryan and the others introduced themselves briefly. Then Hermione added, "When we arrived here yesterday, we were quite startled to see you falling from the sky. But then we realized you were slowly drifting down. I think you would have landed safely even without our help."
"Really? Too bad I was unconscious at the time", Hilda said, thinking for a moment. "I fell from a flying ship, but I don't know why I drifted down so slowly."
"I think it's because of the pendant you're wearing around your neck", Liam said. "When I saw you yesterday, I noticed that the pendant on your neck had a strong magic power reaction and was casting a spell similar to a Levitation Charm."
"Levitation Charm?" Hilda thought for a moment after hearing Liam's words, then she suddenly understood. "The person called Rose Crystal said you are Wizards who traveled here from a distant place. So, the Levitation Charm you mentioned is one of your Wizard spells, right?"
"Exactly, like this", Hermione said, drawing her wand and pointing it at a plate on the table. "Wingardium Leviosa." As the last syllable of the spell was spoken, the plate floated up, circling above the table under Hermione's wand.
This time, Hilda was completely convinced that Liam and the others were Wizards, as she had seen magic with her own eyes. As she marveled, a young voice came from the doorway. "Sir, I'm here as agreed."
"Is that Baru?" Liam asked. "Come in, we've prepared breakfast. And the young lady who fell from the sky is also in the tents."
"Tents? But they look so small, how could anyone fit inside—Oh my God!" Baru was stunned when he entered the tents. The simple canvas tents that appeared to only accommodate two people were actually larger and more luxurious than the mansions in town. Compared to the tents, the most luxurious house Baru had ever seen in town looked as shabby as his own dilapidated home.
"My big brother and his wife are Wizards, so naturally, they have some unique things", Rose Crystal said, flying out and hovering in the air, her head held high with pride.
"Wow, a talking doll", Baru exclaimed upon seeing Rose Crystal, even more surprised when he realized she was floating. "Not only can you talk, but you can fly too."
"Be more polite, especially when addressing a lady. Calling me a doll is quite impolite", Rose Crystal said. "I have my own name. You can call me Rose Crystal."
"I'm very sorry, Miss Rose Crystal", Baru bowed politely. "I was indeed impolite. I apologize, as I've never seen anyone like you before."
"It's quite normal. Since we possess magic that others don't, you will see many things you've never seen before", Rose Crystal said to Baru. "So, I forgive your impoliteness. Now, follow me. We're about to start breakfast, and my big brother has saved a place for you."
"Thank you for your concern." After entering the Great Hall and learning from Ryan and the others that Baru had come out of concern, Hilda bowed slightly in gratitude. Baru quickly bowed in return, but in his excitement, he accidentally bumped his head on the edge of the table.
"Don't worry, my head is hard, harder than my master's fists. This little bump is nothing." Seeing everyone at the table looking at him with concern, Baru waved his hands to reassure them that he was fine. After this small mishap, everyone relaxed a bit, and the conversation began to flow more freely during the meal.
"You mentioned that you came from far away to search for Sky City Laputa. My father once saw that Sky City and even took photographs, but people called him a liar, and he died a broken man. Now it seems that Sky City Laputa really does exist", Baru said, his face showing surprise. "But you are already Wizards, with such amazing Magic. Why do you need to find Laputa?"
"I'm sorry to hear about your father's story, but just as he pursued his goal, we Wizards have our own pursuits, and that is the pursuit of knowledge", Hermione said firmly. "A city that can fly in the sky like Laputa is an incredible subject of study. If we can unlock its secrets, we could build our own floating castle in our homeland."
"She's right", Liam said after eating a fried egg. "For Wizards, the most valuable thing is knowledge that we have never encountered before. Laputa, this Sky City, must hold knowledge we have never seen."
"Aren't you after wealth or power?" Hilda asked, subconsciously gripping the Flight Stone pendant at her chest. "I've heard that many people seek the Sky City for these reasons."
"Wealth?" Liam picked up a napkin, showed it to the guests, and then used the power of Rose Madonna to turn it into pure gold. "The magic I wield can turn stones into gold. Mundane wealth is within my grasp if I so desire it."
"Wow, this Magic is truly amazing." Baru picked up the now golden napkin and examined it, his eyes wide with wonder. "I believe you are not seeking the Sky City for money or power. After all, gold is as common to you as dirt, and in this world, what power can't be bought with gold?"
Once they were certain that Ryan and the others were not driven by ambition, the conversation became more relaxed. Hilda talked about her life in the northern mountains of Kendaya with her family, describing the beautiful valleys and their yaks. Baru, on the other hand, shared his dreams and his previous work.
"So, we'll prepare for the day and set out to find Sky City tomorrow", Liam said after breakfast, then looked at Hilda and Baru. "Hermione and I will check out the nearby abandoned mine first, as we heard that the raw materials for Flight Stones come from there. By the way, what are your plans?"
"We'll go home to get some things and wait for you here", Hilda and Baru discussed briefly before Baru looked up and answered. "We'll be back here waiting for you."
"Good." Liam nodded and then took out two small golden plates, each about the size of a palm and inscribed with various runes, and handed them to Baru and Hilda. "After we leave, I'll cast a spell to protect the tents. You'll need these to see the tents and enter, so don't lose them."
"Don't worry, we won't lose these", Baru said, tying the magic keys around his and Hilda's necks. They then followed Ryan and the others out of the tents.
