Chapter 70: Triple Vital Force, Calamity at Lin Family Fortress
Chapter 70: Triple Vital Force, Calamity at Lin Family Fortress
Two hours later, Su Chen successfully brewed four doses of medicinal concoction.
The first dose produced little noticeable effect.
After drinking the second, warmth spread through his body like soaking in a hot spring.
The third dose ignited intense heat within him, though he could still endure it.
After waiting a while, Su Chen hesitated no longer and downed the fourth dose. Instantly, his body burned like a fireball.
The violent medicinal energy turned his skin bright red, searing his internal organs with unbearable heat.
Fortunately, the agony didn’t last long. As the energy coursed through his body, his complexion gradually returned to normal.
“Huff… huff…”
After what felt like an eternity, Su Chen gasped for breath, drenched in sweat, his face pale with lingering shock.
“Four doses were pushing it, but I made it through.”
Glancing at his Progress Panel, joy lit his face.
“At this rate—four doses daily—I’ll fill the Progress Panel in two days and finally fuse the Turtle Shell Art completely!”
Two days later, Su Chen brewed his final dose. Without waiting for the herbal decoction to cool, he grabbed the bowl and drank it in one gulp.
As the liquid surged into his abdomen, a warm current erupted—but quickly dissipated.
He focused inward. The Progress Panel shimmered and transformed.
“Turtle Shell Art fused successfully. Iron Shirt remains at Third Layer, but the change lies in Vital Force.”
From two streams to three.
The Vital Force no longer remained confined to his arms—it now extended across his torso, though not reaching his legs or head.
With a thought, the three streams flowed independently yet harmonized, weaving together under his control.
A single palm strike shattered the ground, leaving a five-centimeter-deep crater.
“Triple Internal Qi—stronger than ever!”
Su Chen marveled silently.
“A pity there’s no reference point to gauge my true strength.”
Due to the Progress Panel’s uniqueness, he couldn’t compare himself to Hong Ming’s Martial Cultivation Realms. Only combat would reveal his power.
According to Hong Ming, White Stone City’s strongest cultivators were the Three Great Clans’ leaders—each at least at the peak of Martial Cultivation.
Yet how would they fare against him now?
“I’ll find out someday.”
Shaking off his doubts, Su Chen glanced at the darkening sky and abandoned his plan to visit the Gold Exchange.
Night fell, bringing a chill.
At Lin Family Fortress…
The fortress had long lost its former vibrancy.
Bandits plagued the outskirts, forcing the fortress to seal its gates two weeks prior, barring all outsiders. Reinforcements from the city had been summoned to guard against potential attacks.
Less than a hundred meters from the fortress’s low walls, a group lay hidden, eyes fixed ahead—waiting.
When a red flag waved, the leader tensed. “They’re here!”
Soon, a side gate creaked open, the red flag beckoning like a signal.
“Big Brother, I’ll scout ahead!” a burly man volunteered.
“Be careful,” the leader, a man in a green robe, warned.
The giant nodded. With a wave, a dozen allies followed.
Watching him vanish into the shadows, the green-robed man’s face tightened with anxiety.
But moments later, the burly man emerged from the side gate, signaling all clear. Without hesitation, the leader barked, “Follow me—charge!”
“Kill!”
A deafening battle cry erupted, shattering the fortress’s silence.
“Attack! We’re under attack!” a guard screamed, but a shadow slit his throat before he could cry again.
Boom!
While the green-robed man created a distraction outside, the giant eliminated hidden sentries. Soon, the fortress gates swung open.
“Brothers—kill them all!”
With a roar, over a hundred assailants stormed the fortress, slaughtering guards.
“What audacity! Who dares breach Lin Family Fortress?!” a squad of defenders charged, their leader shouting.
“The one here to take your life!” the giant bellowed, lunging forward with a punch that crushed the leader’s skull.
“Warn Second Lord!” the remaining guards cried, but too late.
The green-robed leader surged forward, waving his men. “Kill!”
The clash was one-sided. Under the green-robed man and the giant’s command, defenders crumbled.
“Who dares cause chaos at Lin Family Fortress?!”
A sharp voice rang out. A man in embroidered silk strode forth—Lin Lu, his tiger-like eyes blazing.
“Lin Lu!” the green-robed man hissed.
Recognizing their attackers, Lin Lu’s face darkened. “Lianyun Fortress? We’ve kept our distance—does Zhu Dangjia truly seek annihilation?”
The green-robed man was Zhu Hu, Lianyun Fortress’s leader.
“Why do you think we dared storm here openly?” Zhu Hu sneered. “Because tonight, White Stone City will no longer have a Lin Family Fortress!”
“Arrogant fool! You think you can destroy us?” Lin Lu spat.
“Enough talk—die!”
Zhu Bao, Lianyun Fortress’s second-in-command and Zhu Hu’s younger brother, lunged with a guttural roar, engaging Lin Lu.
Boom!
After a fierce exchange, Zhu Bao staggered back. As he steadied himself, Zhu Hu blocked his advance. “He’s too strong. Handle the others—I’ll deal with him.”
Without protest, Zhu Bao obeyed, his scythe carving a bloody path through defenders.
Lin Lu’s eyes narrowed. “Fool!”
