Chapter 70: On Shelves
Chapter 70: On Shelves
This book will be on the shelves tomorrow!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the readers for their support. As a newcomer, I am truly humbled and grateful for the success of my first book.
The response has been overwhelming, and I have been writing with a sense of trepidation, fearing that I might make a mistake somewhere and ruin it. The pressure has been immense, and I have felt close to depression.
Thankfully, we are now approaching the shelving date. It's a make-or-break moment, and I humbly request that readers give me a first order. This is incredibly important not just for future recommendations but also for the author's morale. If my state of mind collapses, the quality of my work will suffer. I beg of you.
Now, let's talk about updates.
Even among authors known for their slow release pace, I am confident that I could rank among the slowest, with a daily output of 500 words per hour and occasionally an extraordinary 800 words. It's a challenge to keep up.
Nevertheless, I will strive to rise to the occasion and guarantee three updates a week, aiming for four (6,000 to 8,000 words) while ensuring quality.
As mentioned before, for every additional 100 monthly tickets before shelving, I will add one extra chapter to the guaranteed minimum. When I made that promise, we had 758 votes, but now we have over 2,000! You guys are amazing...
Let's say we end up with 2,100 votes—2,100 minus 700 equals 1,400. That means I currently owe 14 chapters... I'm starting to break into a cold sweat.
I hope that on the 1st of the month, when the book is on the shelves, everyone will cast their monthly votes for me. Please, I'm counting on you!
Writing on Qidian is an incredibly stressful endeavor. Here, you will find some of the most professional and discerning readers in the entire web novel industry. I have borne witness to countless aspiring authors arriving with high hopes, only to fade into obscurity, never to be heard from again. It's a daunting prospect.
However, many people have also told me that writing on Qidian is like pursuing a girl. If you put her on a pedestal and worship her, you'll never win her heart. You must remain calm and write about what you're good at; don't try to cater to what you think Qidian readers want. That's a surefire way to fail.
But when I actually start writing, it's hard not to feel that sense of awe and trepidation, which sometimes leads to less-than-ideal results.
Especially when I veered off-course with a plot twist, and the reading numbers fluctuated... My mindset completely collapsed.
Later, I could only comfort myself by treating each chapter as if it were the last. I stopped fearing a collapse in numbers and began to view all readers as unfathomable outer gods. Thunder and rain, sunshine and dew—all are blessings. I calmly accepted the arrangements of fate, knowing that regardless of the numbers, I would continue writing.
Somehow, I managed to persevere with this self-motivation...
Promise me that even if you're going to drop the book, you'll give it a first order before you do?
Special thanks to my editor, Canaan. I bother South every day with data concerns, and he always patiently explains things to me and offers insightful advice. It's rare to find such a wonderful editor!
I'm not just sucking up; he really is a great editor.
Gratitude goes to Egg, the author of "The Final Godly Profession." That book is truly amazing, and I originally intended to emulate Egg's style of writing a muscle-bound, extreme-strength protagonist, but I ended up veering off-course and lost the essence.
Thanks also to Xue, the author of "My Superpower Refreshes Weekly," for the chapter recommendation. Saint Heart Language is forever divine.
Appreciation to Qing Quan, the author of "Beast Master King," for the chapter recommendation. "Unscientific Beast Taming" is fantastic, and I look forward to reading this new book when I have time.
I'm grateful to my operator, A Bai, who has been a tremendous help. He has played a crucial role in the book's success, and he always listens to my concerns about numbers and injects me with positivity when I need it most.
As a newcomer, I haven't joined any Qidian groups, nor do I have any connections. It's all thanks to my editor's help that I was able to get PY...
I won't dwell on personal matters, as I'm sure you're not here for that.
There's not much more to say except to wish all readers longevity and immortality.
Please, I implore you for those first orders and monthly tickets!!!
Monthly Ticket Update Rule After Shelving: For every additional 500 monthly tickets, one extra chapter will be added to the daily guaranteed updates!
