Chapter 70: How Did You End Up in Slytherin's Uniform?
Chapter 70: How Did You End Up in Slytherin's Uniform?
"I can't believe you, Kyle."
In the middle of the night, next to the barrel outside the Hufflepuff Common Room, Cedric looked conflicted and said, "You actually agreed to go on a midnight excursion with the Weasley twins!"
"I've thought about it, and they're right."
Kyle was rummaging through his Charms Lizard Skin Bag, his head bowed, "I really need to do something fun to lift my terrible mood."
"But you can't go on a midnight excursion..." Cedric said with a pained expression, "It's against school rules. If we're caught, not only will we lose points, but we'll also be put in detention! You're only in your first year, you must not start down the path of breaking school rules."
As Cedric spoke, his attitude was very sincere, as if he truly didn't want to see Kyle being led astray by the Weasley twins.
"Don't worry, with the Marauder's Map, no one can catch us."
At this moment, Kyle had found what he was looking for in his bag. He looked up at Cedric and said, "Besides, before you say those things, shouldn't you check your own location? This is the castle corridor, not the common room. You're also part of the midnight excursion, aren't you?"
"I... I don't want to go on the excursion." Cedric stiffened his neck and said, "I just wanted to watch over you and prevent you from breaking more school rules."
"Tsk tsk," Kyle clicked his tongue and raised his eyebrows, "Alright, we'll listen to you. We'll go back now and won't go to the Forbidden Forest to see the Mooncrazed Beast dancing."
"Um... that..." Cedric's eyes suddenly became unfocused, and he mumbled, "No, I... didn't mean that. I just wanted to..."
"You wanted to go to the Forbidden Forest, right?" Kyle interrupted without hesitation and pointed to the silent Conna beside him, "Learn from her. If you want to go, just wait quietly. If you say another word, I won't take you with me."
Cedric gave an awkward laugh and immediately quieted down.
Earlier in the Great Hall, although Kyle had tried to keep his voice low when speaking to the Weasley twins, it was inevitable that Cedric and Conna, sitting next to them, had overheard some of the conversation due to the limited space at the table.
When Kyle sneaked away that evening, he turned around and saw two heads staring at him intently under the moonlight.
The sight made Kyle's scalp go numb, and the little sleep he had left instantly vanished, replaced by a cold sweat.
These two were Cedric and Conna, and their intention was simple—they wanted to join Kyle on his trip to the Forbidden Forest.
And then the scene from earlier occurred.
After Cedric quieted down, Kyle took out a bundle of long, stick-like objects from his Charms Lizard Skin Bag and handed them over, saying, "Choose one for yourself."
Cedric looked at the items in Kyle's hand and felt they looked familiar. Upon closer inspection, he realized they were the scarves of the other three houses.
There were about a dozen or so scarves, tightly bound together, and if one didn't look closely, they could easily be mistaken for a wooden post.
Cedric's mind went blank, and he subconsciously asked, "Kyle, what are you giving me this for? I already have my own scarf."
"This isn't for keeping you warm, it's just a precaution." Kyle said without turning his head, "If we're discovered, you can throw it on the ground while you're running away."
"..."
Cedric and Conna looked at each other, unsure whether to take the scarves or not.
Seeing their hesitation, Kyle took the initiative and directly pulled out two silver-green scarves, hanging them around their necks.
He was using the same scarf himself.
After putting on their gear, the three of them left the kitchen corridor and arrived at the agreed-upon location—a small room next to the Great Hall, where they had waited before the Sorting Ceremony.
Apart from the Sorting Ceremony, this place was rarely noticed, and even Filch seldom patrolled here.
When they arrived, Fred and George were already waiting there.
"Wow~ Look who’s here." George’s eyes lit up. "First place Cedric, and the brave warrior who conquered Snape, Conna."
Fred excitedly said, "I never thought our midnight excursion group would be so luxurious. This is just too—wait!"
At this moment, he suddenly noticed something and asked in confusion, "Why are you all wearing Slytherin clothes?"
Kyle, feeling helpless, explained again.
"This is such a brilliant idea..."
After hearing Kyle’s explanation, Fred and George were utterly amazed. They eagerly asked, "Do you have more? Quick, give us some too!"
Kyle shrugged and handed them two silver-green scarves.
Don’t ask why they were all Slytherin’s. If you ask, it’s just because it was convenient, and it had nothing to do with Snape targeting him.
The twins immediately put on the scarves.
Fred, admiring his new scarf, asked curiously, "Kyle, I remember you haven’t left Hogwarts, right? Where did you get these?"
"My mom sent them to me," Kyle explained. "Along with the scarf, she also sent a Master Key and an Invisibility Cloak that has been enchanted with a Disillusionment Charm.
Though I don’t know why she sent these things to me, they come in handy now."
Kyle spoke casually, but he didn’t notice the twins’ eyes turning red.
"Master Key..."
"Invisibility Cloak..."
Fred swallowed hard and said sincerely, "Mrs. Weasley is simply the greatest mother in the world."
"Exactly," George agreed wholeheartedly. "Her deeds and thoughts should be written into a book and placed in the most prominent spot at Flourish and Blotts and the school library."
"If that day ever comes, I promise I’ll buy it."
"Even if it means selling everything I own to get it."
"Place it in the kitchen..."
"Or in Mom’s room..."
"If that day ever comes..." Kyle grinned. "You’ll probably be hung up by Mrs. Weasley."
"No," Fred said seriously. "Mom would never hang us up."
"She just twists our ears," George laughed. "I guess she wants to twist them off so she won’t call us by the wrong names anymore."
"Though she’s never called us by the wrong names."
Seeing Kyle and the twins chatting and laughing, Cedric and Conna were scared stiff, afraid that Filch would suddenly jump out from some corner and drag them to the Professor’s office.
"Don’t worry, we’ve been watching the Marauder’s Map," Fred, noticing their unease, spread out the parchment in his hand. "Filch and Mrs. Norris are on the fifth floor. If we don’t shout, he won’t find us... oh, damn, the cat is coming down!"
On the map, Mrs. Norris’s name was rapidly moving toward their location.
Upon seeing this, George quickly took out his wand and pointed it at a nearby tapestry.
"Reveal!"
The tapestry split open, revealing a dark passage.
"Quick, get in!" Fred urged. "We need to leave before the cat gets here!"
Without hesitation, the group quickly slipped into the secret passage.
Once George, the last in line, was inside, the tapestry immediately resumed its original form.
Mrs. Norris arrived, looking at the empty corridor with some suspicion. After wandering around for a bit, she left.
