Chapter 7: The Impact of Looks on Sweet Talk
Chapter 7: The Impact of Looks on Sweet Talk
At the table, Luk focused on his noodles, not making any particular effort to engage Naruto in conversation.
Due to his importance as the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, Naruto was always under the watchful eyes of the ANBU. Their job was to monitor Naruto's seal, his mental state, and any suspicious individuals he might interact with.
The last point was to prevent foreign spies from using the Jinchuriki for their own nefarious purposes.
Other than that, they didn't interfere with Naruto's daily life. Whether he was bullied or treated kindly, they wouldn't act without orders from their superiors.
Interacting with Naruto wasn't as dangerous as one might think, especially for someone like Luk, who had a clean background and was born and raised in Konoha.
However, if he interacted with Naruto too much, information would inevitably reach the Third Hokage and Danzo. Even if he passed all their checks, he couldn't guarantee he wouldn't get entangled in their schemes.
So, Luk's approach had always been to neither reject nor get too close to Naruto, and that hadn't changed.
His new "Golden Finger" had only elevated him from a complete nobody to a minor player. He was far from having the freedom to do as he pleased. Until he had enough power, he wouldn't take unnecessary risks.
He could push the boundaries, but only a little.
After finishing his ramen, Luk drank the last bit of broth, showing respect to his future father-in-law. He nodded and smiled at Shizuka as she came to collect the bowls.
"It was delicious."
Shizuka's face turned red as she nodded. "If you like it, come often. You live nearby, so it's convenient."
Luk smiled and said, half-jokingly, "I will, but it would be even more convenient if I could take the person with me."
Honestly, that was a bit too smooth.
But when it comes to sweet talk, no matter how elegant, deep, or moving the words are, if the speaker is ugly, it just sounds greasy!
On the other hand, if the speaker is handsome enough, even the greasiest lines can make a girl swoon. That's the power of good looks.
Seeing the girl's face turn red, Luk decided he had flirted enough for the day. He ignored his younger brother's protests and stood up to leave.
"I have some things to take care of at home. I'll take my leave."
He had a chakra test paper waiting for him!
After Luk left, Shizuka smoothed her hair, which had become messy from work, and muttered to herself, "Luk-kun was really something today, saying all those blush-worthy things."
"His name is Luk? Big sister."
Naruto, who had been watching Luk's retreating back, asked.
"Yes, Senkai Luk, the son of the Senkai shop owner next door." Shizuka ruffled Naruto's hair. "Do you like Luk-kun, Naruto?"
Naruto nodded frankly, "Yes, he doesn't look at me with strange eyes. I want to be with him."
Shizuka's face turned black as she released Naruto from her grip. To prevent the child from developing the wrong ideas, she patiently guided him.
"Naruto, the words 'be with' shouldn't be used lightly. They are only for saying to someone of the opposite gender. You are a boy, so you should only say those words to a girl."
"Why?" Naruto asked, puzzled.
Shizuka smiled, "You'll understand when you find someone you can't stop looking at. Your feelings for Luk-kun are probably more like a younger brother's admiration for an older brother."
"What does admiration mean?"
"Ah, how do I explain it?" Shizuka found it a bit difficult.
At that moment, a slightly older, expressionless girl and a younger, more tsundere girl walked into the shop at just the right time.
Their voices grew louder as they approached.
"I did come back right after the mission, didn't I? Don't be mad."
"Big brother is an idiot! You broke your promise. You said you'd teach me ninjutsu today."
“Forgive me, Sasuke.”
“Slap!”
Seeing the warm and slightly sweet brotherly bond, Shikibu’s eyes lit up as he pointed at the younger Uchiha boy. The younger boy was rubbing his forehead, which had been flicked by his brother, and was giving him a pouting look, seeking attention.
“Take the Uchiha brothers, for example, the younger brother must look up to his older brother with great admiration.”
Naruto glanced over, his eyes narrowing as he saw Sasuke’s angry expression.
Sasuke: (╯^╰)
Naruto thought for a moment, understanding the meaning of the term, and then pointed at the younger, tsundere boy, “I’m not that capricious.”
You’re not capricious, but you’re causing a lot of trouble.
Shikibu awkwardly laughed, then turned back to work, starting to get busy in the shop, leaving no time to talk with the kids.
Naruto sulked his head, eating ramen, not noticing the kid who had just been labeled as “capricious” was staring at him, clearly having heard the remark.
Just a civilian brat, daring to insult the great Uchiha clan, you’re already on the path to death!
...
Back in the room, Luk locked the door and pulled out a chakra attribute test paper to determine his elemental affinity. Chakra attributes are divided into seven types: water, fire, earth, wind, lightning, yin, and yang. Yin and yang are the rarest, and the test paper only reveals five elements. Fire will ignite the paper, wind will split it down the middle, lightning will crinkle it, water will dampen it, and earth will crush it.
Based on chakra attributes, a concept called “bloodline” emerged, which, as the name suggests, involves the inheritance of chakra through blood.
When a ninja masters multiple chakra attributes and can manipulate them to an extreme degree, they can fuse to create new powers. These powers can transform the ninja’s body and have a chance of being inherited through blood.
“Bloodline” includes bloodline limit, bloodline elimination, and bloodline network. The differences are minimal, representing the strength of chakra attributes. Two chakra attributes are bloodline limits, three or more are bloodline eliminations, and all are bloodline networks.
Being born with multiple attributes suggests the potential for bloodline limits, but it doesn’t guarantee it.
Luk injected chakra into the test paper, which originally smooth and dry, suddenly crinkled and then became damp with water.
“Lightning and water, huh.”
Luk looked at the chakra test paper in his hand, reflecting on the usual presence of one attribute in most people.
He wasn’t a prodigy, and the appearance of two chakra attributes was only explained by the other two attributes overlapping onto his.
He should be lightning, while Pirate Luk should provide water, and as for the Shinigami Luk, there’s a reason to suspect he might provide yin, the soul attribute, though the test paper can’t detect it.
“Combining lightning and water, it seems to form a hidden technique, like Ranton.”
If the test is correct, the Ranton technique was used by the Fourth Raikage, D, and Toroi, who demonstrated its power with “Sage Technique: Ranton Light Fang,” slicing open the Jade Rod.
Luk nodded in satisfaction, Ranton is quite impressive and can be a goal to strive for.
However, for now, focusing on refining chakra is the main goal. Reaching the Bloodline Limit through chakra attribute manipulation is a distant dream, not even considered by the Shadow.
Still, refining chakra is more practical, and even the most powerful techniques are not always available.
Set a small goal, achieve it first!
