Chapter 7: Kakashi and Might Guy
Chapter 7: Kakashi and Might Guy
"But that's not fair at all."
Kakashi Hatake, with an indifferent gaze, remarked to Feng Ye, "No wonder I could never beat you. Using a kekkei genkai is basically cheating."
Feng Ye chuckled and replied, "Since when has using a kekkei genkai in a ninja battle been considered cheating? But if you think so, I won't use this ability when we fight again."
Kakashi was indeed a genius.
Even though they both inherited the lineage of the White Fang of Konoha, Feng Ye's talent in ninjutsu fell short of Kakashi's. However, that didn't stop him from being stronger than Kakashi because he had trained for a longer period of time!
The effect of time acceleration wasn't limited to battles; it applied to training as well. Since his arrival in this world, Feng Ye had at least doubled the amount of training time compared to Kakashi!
"...Never mind, forget it."
Kakashi thought for a moment and then shook his head.
Kekkei genkai were indeed abilities inherently possessed by ninjas, so using them couldn't be considered cheating. Even if he won against Feng Ye without relying on his kekkei genkai, it wouldn't mean much.
There was no rule in the ninja world about not allowing someone to use their kekkei genkai.
"However, even with a kekkei genkai, you might not always be stronger than me. If you're not careful, I could still surpass you."
Kakashi looked at Feng Ye, his expression unchanged. After all, in the ninja world, a kekkei genkai didn't guarantee invincibility.
The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, didn't possess any kekkei genkai, yet his name struck fear into the hearts of all ninjas, and he was even revered as the strongest of the Five Kage by the ninjas of Konoha.
"Then I'll look forward to the day you surpass me."
Feng Ye smiled and reached out to ruffle Kakashi's hair, but Kakashi frowned and dodged the gesture.
Just as Kakashi was about to tease Feng Ye about using such a childish gesture, a lively voice rang out from not far away.
"Ah! Kakashi, you're here! I've been looking for you for a long time..."
Feng Ye turned his head and saw a young man in a green bodysuit bursting out of the bushes. His appearance was instantly recognizable.
Might Guy!
Guy, full of enthusiasm, completely ignored Feng Ye and leaped towards Kakashi, executing a taijutsu move by lashing out with a whip-like kick.
"Let's settle this once and for all, Kakashi! Watch my Konoha Whirlwind!"
"..."
Kakashi gave Guy a dreamless gaze and lazily blocked the attack with his arm, retaliating with a sweeping kick.
Guy received Kakashi's counterattack and seemed to be brimming with endless energy as he exclaimed, "This time, I will definitely win, Kakashi! Take this!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!!
In an instant, Guy and Kakashi were locked in a fierce battle.
Just like in the original story, Guy had considered Kakashi his rival since their academy days and had been constantly pushing himself to challenge Kakashi.
Feng Ye watched the intense battle between Guy and Kakashi, shrugged, and leaped onto a tree branch to observe as a bystander.
Guy, who had managed to cultivate the Eight Inner Gates to the eighth gate, was undoubtedly a genius when it came to taijutsu. However, at this point in time, Guy had not yet learned the Eight Inner Gates, and while he could overpower Kakashi in pure taijutsu, Kakashi could easily turn the tables by using ninjutsu or other techniques.
Crackle! Crack!
Still feeling sour about his loss to Feng Ye, Kakashi quickly resorted to using lightning-style ninjutsu during the spar. A lightning bolt struck Guy, causing him to let out a strange cry as he flew backward, his hair standing on end and emitting a burnt smell.
Kakashi Hatake, with his arms folded across his chest, shook his head as he looked at Guy. "You might as well give up. Wanting to beat me is even more far-fetched than you beating Feng Ye."
"Thanks for the encouragement..."
Guy picked himself up from the ground and gave Kakashi a thumbs-up.
But then he paused for a moment, recalling Kakashi's words, and blinked. "Kakashi, what did you say just now?"
"Nothing, I didn't say anything."
Kakashi shook his head.
Guy furrowed his brows, his gaze involuntarily shifting to Feng Ye, who was sitting on a tree branch not far away, a hint of suspicion in his eyes.
It seemed like Kakashi had implied that... he couldn't beat Feng Ye? Although Feng Ye was Kakashi's older brother, Guy had never considered who was stronger between the two. After all, Kakashi had graduated at the age of five and became a Chunin at six, while Feng Ye was merely ranked high in their class.
He must have misheard.
Kakashi probably meant that he wanted to beat Kakashi, and that was even more unlikely than Feng Ye beating Kakashi... After thinking it over, Guy's furrowed brows relaxed.
Whoosh!
Feng Ye leaped down from the tree and asked Kakashi and Guy, "Are you going to continue training, or are you going to get something to eat first?"
Since Guy often challenged Kakashi and they trained together frequently, Feng Ye was somewhat acquainted with Guy. Although Guy and his father, Might Dai, were considered oddities wherever they went, Feng Ye didn't have the slightest thought of mocking them.
One of them was Guy, who had unleashed the Eight Inner Gates, defeating the Kirigakure Ninja Swordsmen single-handedly and traumatizing the surviving members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.
And the other was even more remarkable; he had pummeled the Six Paths Madara with the Eight Inner Gates Formation and nearly kicked Kaguya Otsutsuki back into her coffin!
What embarrassed him the most was that he had always been coveting the Eight Inner Gates technique.
However, to be fair, the Eight Inner Gates technique was both difficult and not so difficult to master. Its basics could be grasped by almost any ninja, making it one of the typical, straightforward taijutsu styles. But perfecting it was incredibly challenging, requiring years of relentless, hellish training.
And that was why only people like Might Guy and Might Dai could persevere and master this monotonous technique to perfection.
"...I just lost to Kakashi, so I'm going to do 3,000 squats before eating."
After hearing Feng Ye's suggestion, Guy immediately started doing squats in the field, paying no heed to Kakashi's mocking gaze.
Seeing Guy's dedication, Kakashi shook his head and said to Feng Ye, "I'm not hungry yet either. I'll continue training as well."
He wasn't influenced by Guy but rather spurred on by Feng Ye.
The presence of Feng Ye, who possessed a kekkei genkai, had suddenly widened the gap between them. If he didn't train relentlessly, the gap might widen further, which he absolutely couldn't accept.
"Alright, then I'll go eat first. You two continue training."
Feng Ye didn't mind.
The sleep and meal patterns of normal people were completely out of sync with his, thanks to his time acceleration ability. He ate at least five meals a day, and his actual training time was probably more than the combined total of Guy and Kakashi's training time!
