Chapter 7: I Can Do More
Chapter 7: I Can Do More
"Well, I might not be as weak as you think."
As Qin Ming left to handle Wang Si's identity issues, Wang Si approached Yu Tianheng and, seeing his disappointed expression, spoke tentatively.
"Hmm?"
Yu Tianheng turned his head, a hint of surprise in his eyes as he looked at Wang Si.
"The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon, I know. It's the top beast spirit in the continent, so your physical attributes must be incredible." Wang Si ventured, testing the waters.
Yu Tianheng's head rose proudly at Wang Si's words.
"Indeed, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon is the foremost beast spirit, and my physical attributes are exceptional, especially after I obtained my first spirit ring. My body became even stronger."
Hearing this, Wang Si extended his fist, bumping it lightly against Yu Tianheng's.
Intrigued by Wang Si's action, Yu Tianheng bumped his fist against Wang Si's in return.
This simple action sparked a glint of excitement in Yu Tianheng's eyes, as he sensed that Wang Si's fist was harder than that of the average eleven or twelve-year-old of the same age.
In an instant, a fierce battle intent ignited in Yu Tianheng's eyes.
He abruptly threw an arm around Wang Si's shoulder and gave a friendly punch on his shoulder.
"Who would've thought you'd be so sturdy?"
Wang Si merely smiled in response, and then revealed his first spirit ring.
First spirit ability: Hardening.
Yu Tianheng could clearly sense the increase in the hardness of Wang Si's skeleton, and his eyes lit up.
"Good lad! You're pretty tough with your spirit ability activated. Come, let's have a match!"
Excited, Yu Tianheng gave Wang Si an enthusiastic punch, eager to test his skills against Wang Si now that he had activated his first spirit ability. His mouth stretched into a wide grin.
"Move aside, move aside! Let our new member have a match with me first!"
Yu Tianheng held a high status among the students, and the two students occupying the sparring area quickly vacated it upon hearing his request.
"Considering you've only just obtained your spirit ring recently and are not yet familiar with its power, you can use your spirit ring in this fight."
Yu Tianheng took his position in the center of the sparring area and laid out the rules for the match.
"I am Yu Tianheng, a 12th level Offensive Soul Master. Please give me your guidance."
Yu Tianheng extended his hand for a handshake, and Wang Si followed his example, introducing himself as well.
"I'm Wang Si, an 11th level Defensive Soul Master. Please give me your guidance."
As their introductions concluded, they released their hands and took five steps back.
"Wang Si, why don't you go first, so that I'm not accused of bullying you by virtue of being a senior."
Hearing these words, Wang Si didn't hold back. His spirit ring shone, and he charged forward like an arrow.
Although Wang Si lacked systematic combat training, in his opinion, fighting wasn't just about children playfully exchanging blows.
Thus, he gave it his all as he threw a punch at Yu Tianheng's face.
Initially, upon hearing Teacher Qin Ming say that this guy lacked training and needed his guidance, Yu Tianheng had planned to go easy on him.
But seeing this powerful, heavy punch, he immediately discarded his previous contempt.
Based on Wang Si's footsteps and breathing frequency, Yu Tianheng could tell he hadn't received any training, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to fight! If he wasn't careful, he might find himself knocked out by Wang Si's wild punches, so Yu Tianheng quickly became serious.
Low-level Soul Masters didn't have fancy moves; their fights were straightforward and brutal, with each punch packed with strength.
Although Wang Si's reaction speed was much faster, at the moment, he could only match Yu Tianheng, who wasn't using his beast spirit, blow for blow while his spirit ability was active.
Having obtained his first spirit ability only two days ago, Wang Si couldn't maintain it for long.
Finally, as Wang Si's soul power was exhausted, Yu Tianheng seized the opportunity and took him down.
Huff... Puff...
Yu Tianheng, as the victor, lay on top of Wang Si, both of them breathing heavily.
"It's been a while since I had such an exhilarating fight. You only lost because of your lack of combat experience and understanding of spirit abilities. Otherwise, the outcome might've been different."
Wang Si, lying on the ground, deeply agreed with Yu Tianheng's words.
If he hadn't hesitated for a moment due to his soul power depletion, the result of the fight might have been uncertain.
"Ahem, ahem... Do you have anything to eat? I'm a bit hungry after our little scuffle."
Wang Si pushed Yu Tianheng away, his voice weak and exhausted.
"You're telling me you got hungry halfway through our fight? That's a bit far-fetched," Yu Tianheng teased, unable to resist ribbing his new friend. As he spoke, a loud rumble emanated from Wang Si's stomach, an untimely echo to Yu Tianheng's words.
"You're really hungry, aren't you?" Yu Tianheng exclaimed, his eyes widening as he stared at Wang Si in disbelief.
Unconcerned with Yu Tianheng's astonishment, Wang Si reached into the storage-type soul guide device given to him by the First Prince and retrieved a pre-cooked steak, which he proceeded to devour right there on the ground.
"You're serious about this, aren't you, buddy?" Yu Tianheng's eyes widened further, both impressed and amused by Wang Si's actions.
"I heard that my martial soul failed to awaken properly due to malnutrition. If I can get the right nutrition, there's a chance it could undergo a secondary awakening," Wang Si mumbled through a mouthful of steak, offering a vague explanation.
[Hundred Refinements of the Bones] had already revealed the growth path of his primary martial soul: the potential for further awakenings in the future.
Upon hearing the term "secondary awakening," Yu Tianheng felt that it sounded incredibly impressive and imagined that it would likely lead to a significant power boost.
At the same time, he thought of his uncle, who also had a mutated martial soul, although his innate soul power level was exceptionally low.
"I wonder if he has the potential for a secondary awakening too?" Yu Tianheng mused. He felt it was necessary to cultivate a good relationship with Wang Si. Who knew, perhaps Wang Si would be willing to share more details about martial soul secondary awakenings?
Yu Tianheng stood up and helped Wang Si to his feet. "Come on, let's go over there to rest for a bit. When you're full, we can have another match."
"Huh? Fight some more?" Wang Si's lips twitched at the mention of another fight.
He hadn't expected Yu Tianheng to be such a battle enthusiast.
...
In the Soul City, within the Soul Hall.
Using Wang Si's teacher's identity, Bibi Dong began her investigations into the corrupt Soul Hall members, and soon, through them, she uncovered many individuals who had been disloyal to the Soul Hall after Qian Xunji's death.
For those individuals, Bibi Dong's method of handling was brutal and bloody, naturally infringing upon the interests of some of the elders in the Hall of Fighters.
As the Hall Master of the Hall of Fighters, Qian Daolu naturally heard the complaints of his old friends.
"Bibi Dong, you should be clear about the position you hold as Pope, and you should also remember that the Soul Hall is not a place for you to make decisions unilaterally!" Qian Daolu admonished.
In response to Qian Daolu's rebuke, Bibi Dong let out a cold laugh. "Qian Daolu, it's admirable that at your age, apart from your son's scandalous affairs, you still have other means to try and threaten me."
These words caused Qian Daolu's face to redden in anger.
"Hehe, Qian Daolu, you must admit that although my methods may be a bit cruel, I'm removing the malignant tumors from within the Soul Hall! It's clear that the problems lie within the Soul Hall, yet instead of addressing them, you come to me with complaints. How shameless can you be?" Bibi Dong's gaze turned meaningful as she continued, "And let's not forget that in the future, this Soul Hall will be handed over to Xue'er."
Qian Daolu's expression darkened as he heard Bibi Dong's veiled threat. Changing the subject, he said, "By the way, I heard you've taken on another student. Why haven't I seen this person?"
Without waiting for a response, he turned and left.
Indeed, after Qian Xunji's death, Bibi Dong did not have the qualifications to be the Pope of the Soul Hall.
However, due to her son's misdeeds and for the sake of Xue'er, Qian Daolu had endured pressure from the other elders of the Hall of Fighters to install Bibi Dong in that position.
Apart from feeling indebted to Bibi Dong, Qian Daolu also wanted her to pave the way for his granddaughter.
Thus, he kept a constant watch on the Soul Hall's affairs, and now, he was even aware of Bibi Dong's new student.
In a subtle way, he was also putting pressure on Bibi Dong.
Upon returning to his residence deep within the Hall of Fighters, Qian Daolu's smile turned gentle once more. "Xue'er, Grandpa's back..."
