Chapter 7: Clouds of War
Chapter 7: Clouds of War
Tensions rise as clashes escalate on the front lines. The Ninja forces of Kirigakure, the Village Hidden in the Mist, move towards the Land of Hot Water, a country bordering the Fire Country, amidst rumors of the presence of the Jinchuriki of Eight-Tails.
Upon hearing this news, Mu Yue knew that the Third Great Ninja War was imminent.
Or perhaps it had already begun, but not yet erupted in full force.
Being a member of the Root Organization, the original body of Mu Yue possessed slightly more knowledge than an ordinary ninja.
Ever since the previous year when Danzo Shimura, known as White Fang, committed suicide, the ninja world had been stirring with hidden currents. Whether it was Kirigakure, Iwagakure, or Sunagakure, all were making their moves.
When Mu Yue was just a manga enthusiast, he thought that Danzo wasn't much different from other renowned strong characters.
However, after inheriting the original owner's memories, he finally understood the true value of the title "White Fang."
Others gained fame by defeating or holding their ground against well-known powerful opponents, but Danzo was different. He became famous because he killed, and he did so with extraordinary efficiency.
Wielding a chakra dagger, he transformed into a merciless mowing machine on the battlefield, indifferent to whether his opponents were genin or jonin. A flash of white light, and they would meet their end.
It wasn't that Danzo's strength surpassed everyone else's, making him the strongest in the ninja world, but his fighting style was particularly suited for overwhelming weaker opponents. Anyone weaker than him would easily fall victim to his swift kills.
With Konohagakure having lost such a formidable warrior, it was only natural for the other ninja villages to become ambitious.
Especially Kirigakure and Iwagakure, as these two ninja villages had suffered minimal losses during the Second Great Ninja War, and now, having developed their strength over time, they believed they had the power to challenge the top.
"Those despicable Kirigakure ninjas, can't they just behave for once? It feels like we're heading towards another war." Ueda Aya sighed.
"If Lord White Fang were still here, they definitely wouldn't dare to be so arrogant," Isamu Ikegaya said indignantly.
"Don't worry," Kimura Sugi tried to lighten the mood, "we still have the Third Hokage and Orochimaru-sama with us. We will achieve victory just like before."
"If war breaks out, will our teachers also receive combat missions?" Mu Yue asked the question that concerned him the most.
He didn't want to leave the Ninja Academy, as he knew that the cheat-like abilities he gained from the Teacher System made it much easier for him to grow stronger compared to regular training.
"It depends on the intensity of the war," Ueda Aya replied. "If it becomes too fierce, some of the teachers may be assigned to different units according to their specialties."
Hearing Ueda Aya's words, Mu Yue could only pray to God in his heart, hoping that he wouldn't be chosen anytime soon, or better yet, not at all.
During the upcoming Third Great Ninja War, Konohagakure would be engaged in battles with the other four great ninja villages, making it an exceptionally intense conflict. There was no doubt that they would utilize every available resource, including the teachers from the Ninja Academy.
Mu Yue wasn't afraid of going to the battlefield, but he feared ending up there before he had a chance to fully develop his strength.
This Third Great Ninja War was extraordinarily perilous. Firstly, the five great ninja villages were fighting with reckless abandon, each giving their all. Additionally, behind the scenes, Uchiha Madara and Black Zetsu were plotting something sinister.
"Teacher Hayabu, you don't need to worry about that," Kimura Sugi reassured, confident in Konohagakure's strength. "We are the first ninja village, and there's no way the war will escalate to the point where we need to send our teachers into battle."
"I'm not worried about going to the battlefield," Mu Yue smiled. "I was just asking out of curiosity, so I can prepare myself just in case."
Although he didn't want to go, he knew better than to voice such thoughts aloud.
Mu Yue fell silent and began practicing calligraphy. As the bell rang, signaling the start of class, he made his way towards Class 1-A.
Standing at the doorway, Mu Yue gazed into the classroom. The looming clouds of war had not dampened the children's joy, and the room was filled with cheerful energy.
"Brother, how did my brilliant plan work out? Did it make your cousin submit and fall in line?" Kamitsuki Izumo couldn't contain his curiosity any longer, two days having passed since he shared his idea with Koshi.
In the end, the two of them kept retaliating against each other, getting scolded and punished in turn. Finally, they had no choice but to call a truce and deem this treacherous plan an unusable "forbidden technique."
"To think there are such deceitful people in this world," Kamitsuki Izumo sighed.
"Your cousin is truly crafty. I can't think of another scheme right now," Kamitsuki Izumo said apologetically.
"It's fine. You've helped me out several times, Izumo. Tell me about your troubles, and I'll help you with them," Gang Zitie offered, intending to repay the favor.
"There's a girl who lives nearby whom I like a lot, but I don't know how to get closer to her," Kamitsuki Izumo hesitated before finally confessing.
"That's simple; just give her something she likes," Gang Zitie suggested.
Kamitsuki Izumo thought about it and felt it made sense. "I often see her looking at my family's flower garden when she passes by, so she probably likes flowers. And I don't think her family grows any flowers."
"Then give her flowers! She'll definitely be grateful," Gang Zitie assured him.
"Ahem, class is starting," Mu Yue coughed lightly, reminding everyone that the lesson was about to begin.
The noisy classroom instantly quieted down, and only the sound of Mu Yue's teaching could be heard.
Although they had only spent four days together, the students had grown fond of Mu Yue's relaxed and interesting teaching style, and they listened attentively.

[Evaluation: A]
[Reward Obtained: Water Style: Water Wall]
Upon seeing the name of this ninjutsu, Mu Yue's mind flashed with information about the Water Wall technique.
It was a B-rank water style ninjutsu that created a wall of water as a defensive barrier.
What was noteworthy was that Tobirama's Water Wall was different from others. Instead of a flat wall, his technique formed a 360-degree circle, protecting him from all angles.
As Mu Yue examined the newfound knowledge in his mind, he discovered that he had gained mastery over the Water Nature Transformation, a chakra nature he previously couldn't use.
Mu Yue thought about it and realized that the system must have provided him with this knowledge to enable him to use water-style jutsu.
Mu Yue silently gave the thoughtful system a mental thumbs-up.
After school, Mu Yue brought Itachi to the training spot he had found earlier—a small river in the southern forest.
"Your Great Fireball Technique has improved significantly. Today, I'll teach you a new fire style ninjutsu," Mu Yue said, outlining the day's training plan.
After speaking, Mu Yue clapped his hands and instantly spat out three gigantic fire dragons. Under Mu Yue's control, the fire dragons circled in the air before diving into the water, evaporating large amounts of river water and causing white steam to billow across the river's surface.
"Great Fire Dragon Technique," Itachi recognized the jutsu at a glance, having seen an Uchiha jonin use it before.
And because he recognized it, he was even more astonished. Mu Yue had spat out three fire dragons in one breath and with only a single hand seal.
Itachi's curiosity about Mu Yue's true strength continued to grow.
"Watch closely. I'll demonstrate it again," Mu Yue said, seeing the expression on Itachi's face and knowing that he had achieved the desired effect.
