Chapter 699: Too Many People Are Enchanted by Him
"Wait... Harry!" Ron gritted his teeth and called out to the two who were about to leave.
"What is it, Ron?" Harry's steps halted, and he turned to look at Ron, surprised.
Sirius Black also stopped, his eyes coldly fixed on Ron.
Under the gaze of the two, Ron became increasingly nervous.
Although he felt that Sirius Black's behavior today was rather strange, he couldn't be entirely sure about it, and even began to doubt if he was just being too paranoid.
The jokes that had resulted from his past blabbering rushed to his mind, stifling his courage to question.
"I mean, if you really have to go, shouldn't you at least inform the Professors first..." Ron hesitated for a moment before stammering out his words.
As he spoke, he glanced over at the Judges' Stand, lacking confidence in his judgment and hoping to seek help from the Professors.
However, after looking around, Ron couldn't find any of the Professors or the referee. Only a few Aurors were standing at the periphery of the Maze, barely maintaining order.
"There's no need to look. Dumbledore and the others received a message and have already gone to the village." Sirius Black spoke slowly, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
After a pause, he turned to Harry and continued. "So, he asked me to take Harry along after the match for protection... Mcgonagall and Mad-Eye Moody are there too!"
Sirius Black's explanation seemed flawless to Ron, and he began to lean towards the idea that his suspicions were wrong. His voice grew weaker. "Shouldn't we tell Ivan... You haven't congratulated him on winning the match yet..."
"No, that's not necessary!" Sirius Black sounded impatient.
But he quickly realized his tone was off and hurriedly added, "I mean, we can celebrate later! And Ivan is different; he has to stay behind to protect Hogwarts, so he can't leave!"
"We should go now, Harry! Dumbledore will be worried if we wait any longer!" Sirius Black wasn't willing to waste any more time with Ron, grabbed Harry's wrist, and pulled him away forcefully.
Harry was completely bewildered, but trusting Sirius Black, he gave Ron an apologetic look and followed along.
Left behind, Ron hesitated, mulling over Sirius Black's words. He had a vague feeling that something was off, but couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was.
Watching Harry and Sirius Black disappear from the Quidditch pitch, Ron gritted his teeth and decided to find Ivan and Hermione to discuss the matter.
"Move... make way!"
Ron pushed through the crowd, struggling to reach the award platform.
Along the way, someone tossed a few Bangfires, and with a dull explosion, colorful sparks flew everywhere, and thick smoke choked Ron.
"Damn!"
Ron cursed under his breath but had no time to figure out who had thrown them. He continued searching for Ivan in the crowd.
Just then, a hand reached out and grabbed his shoulder.
Ron jumped in surprise, turning to find George.
"Ron, what's the rush? Aren't you joining us to celebrate?" George grinned at him and shoved a few fireworks into Ron's hand.
Fred also chimed in, “This is our newly improved Bangfire. You should have experienced it by now. How was it? Pretty good, right?”
Hearing this, Ron couldn’t help but realize they had been toying with him, and he was furious.
“I don’t have time to play around with you…” Ron said angrily, snatching the Bangfire George had handed him and shoving it back into their arms. He then continued in a hurry, “By the way! Where’s Ivan?”
George and Fred exchanged glances, puzzled by Ron’s sudden anger, but seeing his serious expression, George pointed to the right.
“There! Over there!”
Ron looked in the direction George was pointing. A large crowd had gathered, making it impossible to see Ivan.
“What do you need Ivan for? He’s got a lot of fans. Girls are lining up for photos and autographs, and we can’t even get close. If you want to celebrate with him, you’d better wait a bit…” Fred advised.
“I have something important to tell him! Sirius Black just took Harry away. They’re leaving Hogwarts and didn’t let me come along. I think Sirius Black is acting strange today…” Ron said urgently.
“What’s so strange about that? Sirius Black might just want to take Harry to Hogsmeade for a bit of shopping, to buy him a gift or something,” George suggested.
“That’s right. Harry came in second place. If I were Sirius Black, I’d be over the moon…” Fred nodded in agreement.
“Don’t you get it? Sirius Black isn’t at all concerned about how well Harry did today, which is why I think something’s wrong!” Ron glared at them angrily. “I suspect Sirius Black might be under the Imperius Curse, just like Professor Moody!”
George and Fred looked at Ron in shock. They had heard of the Imperius Curse, and Mad-Eye Moody had even given them a detailed lesson on it in Defense Against the Dark Arts this year.
But now, Ron was telling them that both Mad-Eye Moody and Sirius Black were under the curse. It sounded like a huge joke…
Noticing their expressions, Ron realized his explanation had been in vain. He didn’t bother to waste any more time and prepared to push his way through the crowd to find Ivan.
“Wait, Ron. Even if I don’t know if what you’re saying is true, if you need to see Ivan urgently, we can help!” George called out suddenly.
Ron turned around, curious about how they could get Ivan out of the crowd.
George and Fred exchanged a grin, then hurled all the Bangfires they were holding in Ivan’s direction.
In the next moment, a dozen Bangfires exploded in the crowd, the popping sounds echoing continuously. The area was soon filled with darting fireworks…
The dense crowd quickly descended into chaos, with screams and curses filling the air. The young wizards on the outskirts glared angrily at George and Fred.
Ron also looked at them in frustration, unsure if they were helping or making things worse.
George and Fred gave him a calming look.
Sure enough, a few seconds later, Ivan emerged from the crowd…
