Chapter 698: You Haven't Congratulated Harry Yet...
Hearing Dumbledore's words, Mcgonagall nodded. It seemed that even if they were not around, the students' safety was not a concern.
With this thought, Mcgonagall suddenly turned her head to look at Ivan, who was surrounded by the crowd, and smiled. "I bet the Dark Lord never expected Hals to end the match so quickly!"
"Perhaps..." Dumbledore said noncommittally.
...
"Hals, our hero!"
"Gryffindor Champion... Hogwarts Star!"
On the temporary award platform, a large number of overexcited young wizards lifted Ivan up, raising him high into the air and tossing him, with screams and cheers echoing across the arena.
Colorful banners and petals rained down from the sky, continuing for several minutes without stopping.
When they landed on the ground or on people, the petals would disintegrate and vanish without a trace, clearly indicating that everything was conjured by magic.
Such a large-scale transformation spell left Ivan in awe, and he silently assessed his own capabilities.
If he had some time to prepare, Ivan believed he could create a similar scene, though the coverage might be smaller.
This showed that in the art of Transfiguration, the gap between him and Dumbledore was still significant. After all, the old professor had clearly cast the spell on a whim, just for fun...
After some time, the Gryffindor young wizards finally lowered Ivan from the air.
However, Ivan didn't have a moment to rest, as more young wizards quickly gathered around him, bombarding him with questions about his thrilling experiences in the maze.
In contrast, the other champions were much quieter.
Maxime and a few Beauxbatons girls were softly consoling Fleur.
Karkaroff, with a perpetually dark face, suppressed the urge to curse and dragged Krum away, with the Durmstrang students following him dejectedly.
Harry, the other Hogwarts champion, was pushed to the side by the crowd. Although some young wizards congratulated him on his second-place finish, most students chose to gather around Ivan. Only Ron and Sirius Black remained by his side.
"You really are amazing, Harry!" Ron patted Harry's chest, speaking rapidly. "I saw it all on that Crystal Ball. You fought several Giant Spiders and a Blast-Ended Skrewt in the maze. Oh, I bet that Blast-Ended Skrewt was at least fifteen feet long, with a shell harder than steel... Even a fully grown wizard would be at a loss, and you managed to defeat it!"
As Ron continued to praise him, Harry's expression grew increasingly uncomfortable. "It's no big deal, Ron... Ivan took out a dozen Blast-Ended Skrewts at once."
"No, that's different, Harry!" Ron shook his head. "Didn't you hear Professor Dumbledore say that Ivan is the most talented genius Hogwarts has ever seen, even surpassing the Dark Lord?"
“You may not be as skilled as Ivan, but you did defeat the champions from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, and that’s undeniable,” Ron emphasized.
“It was only because of your help and a bit of luck…” Harry said, a bit embarrassed. He knew very well what his own capabilities were.
Without everyone’s help, he would have probably died in the first task, devoured by a dragon. It was only with their assistance that he managed to use his flying broom and the Blinding Spell to snatch the dragon egg.
“Come on, the other champions had help too. Everyone’s in the same boat, but you performed way better in the tasks!”
Ron spoke enthusiastically, recounting Harry’s impressive performances in each of the tasks.
For example, during the second task at the bottom of the lake, Krum had transformed into a fearsome shark-headed man but ended up getting beaten up by the mermaids. Fleur panicked and was chased by them, eventually falling into a trap.
But Harry had easily driven the mermaids away using magic…
“And when you faced the Hungarian Horntail, you flew even better than Krum!” Ron praised.
Harry looked at Ron in surprise. He knew how much Ron idolized Krum, having even posted Krum’s poster in the dormitory and almost offering to let Krum sleep there!
Ron noticed Harry’s gaze and shrugged. “Oh, don’t look at me like that… Harry, I did admire Krum, but after these past few days, I’ve seen the real him! I won’t idolize a champion who makes a fool of himself in every task. He’s just got some flying talent, that’s all!”
After a moment’s pause, Ron looked at Harry with hesitant eyes and spoke slowly.
“And… I’m sorry, Harry, for what I said before. I shouldn’t have doubted you…”
“It’s about time you came to your senses. That’s good to hear…” Harry replied, somewhat irritably. He had explained himself so many times, but Ron had brushed it off. It had taken over half a year to finally get this apology.
Ron gave an awkward laugh. Just as he was about to say something, Sirius Black suddenly interjected.
“Want to go for a walk, Harry?”
“Now? What for?” Harry turned to look at Sirius Black, surprised, and then quickly shook his head. “No, I’m fine. I’ve already forgiven Ron…”
“It’s not about that. I need to talk to you in private… just the two of us. It’s too noisy here…” Sirius Black moved his gaze from the referee stand and smiled.
“Can’t you say it here? What about Ron? Can’t he come along?” Harry was puzzled.
“It’s Dumbledore’s idea…” Sirius Black’s eyes were a bit unfocused.
“Did the professors give me a task?” Harry immediately thought of that possibility.
“Yes, something like that. You know where they are, so let’s hurry. We don’t want to waste any time!” Sirius Black said with a hint of urgency.
Harry nodded in agreement and gave Ron an apologetic look…
Sirius Black smiled, tightly gripping Harry’s wrist, and led him away.
Ron watched the two of them leave, staring blankly for a moment.
He suddenly realized that Sirius Black had never congratulated Harry on his performance in the Triwizard Tournament…
