Chapter 697: Can I Touch Your Cup?
Chapter 697: Can I Touch Your Cup?
After giving Krum a few pointers, Ludo Bagman called the Champions to the podium.
Dumbledore, Karkaroff, and Maxime were already waiting there, with Fudge taking Crouch's place as the fifth referee for this final event.
Once the Champions were in position, the referees had a brief discussion. Considering the pride of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, they decided to skip the scoring process and announce the results directly.
Maxime and Karkaroff's grim faces eased slightly.
"Now, let's reveal the final scores of the Champions!" After their discussion, Ludo Bagman cleared his throat, stepped to the front of the stage, and shouted loudly.
"First place, the ultimate winner of this Triwizard Tournament, Hogwarts' Champion—Ivan Halsmaster!"
"Let's give him a round of applause!"
As Ludo Bagman's words echoed, the arena erupted into thunderous applause. Many young wizards stood up, excitedly cheering.
"Great, I knew Hals would win!"
"See that? That's our Gryffindor Champion!"
...
Amidst the enthusiastic cheers and shouts, Ivan's lips curled into a slight smile. He raised the Cup with his right hand, gesturing to the crowd, feeling immensely pleased.
This wasn't just because of the victory; more importantly, the System Task he had taken on was finally completed.
[Task: Win the Triwizard Cup (Completed)
Mission Objective: Participate in the Triwizard Tournament and win!
Mission Reward: Legend Points * 3
Mission Description: Through your meticulous planning, this tournament, jointly hosted by the three major European magic schools, has become your personal showcase. Your outstanding performance and legendary feats will be recorded in the annals of history alongside this special event!]
Looking at the task information displayed on the System panel, Ivan felt a bit uneasy, though he couldn't quite pinpoint what was wrong. Upon closer reflection, he realized it was the Mission Description that seemed too normal, making him feel slightly out of place.
While Ivan was lost in thought, Ludo Bagman continued announcing the results without pause.
Second place rightfully went to Harry. Compared to the other participants, he at least managed to navigate the maze, subdue a Blast-Ended Skrewt, and a few Giant Spiders, which was a commendable performance.
Beauxbatons' Champion, Fleur, came in third.
As for Krum, he inevitably placed last.
When Ludo Bagman loudly announced the results, Karkaroff's face turned ghastly pale, and the young wizards from Durmstrang glared at Krum, blaming him for disgracing their school.
Fleur's situation was slightly better. With Krum's poor performance as a contrast, she wasn't as heavily criticized by her fellow students, though some Beauxbatons girls still had their reservations about her recent poor performances.
In the midst of the celebrations, Fudge, the Minister of Magic, also wore a broader smile. The outcome of the Triwizard Cup wasn't just a matter for Hogwarts; it also reflected on his own political achievements and the pride of the entire British wizarding world!
So after Ivan finished his lengthy acceptance speech, Fudge personally stepped forward as the award presenter and handed Ivan the prize for the competition—a thousand Galleons, all contained in a bag that felt heavy in Ivan's hand.
"Lastly, please allow me to say one more thing!"
After the closing rituals, Dumbledore suddenly stood up, his powerful voice resonating across the field, even overpowering the noisy Young Wizards.
For a moment, the surroundings fell into a brief silence, and all the Young Wizards turned their gaze to Dumbledore on the Judges' Stand.
Under the attention of the crowd, Dumbledore lightly waved his wand, and a purple beam shot up into the sky, exploding shortly after.
Colorful flags and petals rained down from the sky, covering the entire Quidditch pitch...
"Tonight, I will allow you to break some of the less important school rules and celebrate properly. That is all I have to say..." Dumbledore said with a smile.
George and Fred immediately jumped up in excitement, meaning they could bring out their usual stock of goods.
The other Young Wizards also ran down from the stands, rushing towards the podium and surrounding the Champions.
"Ivan, you were amazing, defeating so many monsters in the Maze..." Seamus squeezed his way to the front, excitedly describing the thrilling scenes he had seen earlier in the crystal ball.
Then Seamus's gaze shifted to the golden, shimmering Cup in Ivan's hand, his cheeks turning red as he shyly asked, "Can I touch your Cup, Ivan?"
"Of course, no problem!" Ivan generously handed the Cup over.
Seamus took it with trembling hands, holding it as if it were a treasure, beaming with joy.
But before he could steady it, George and Fred snatched the Cup away, eager to touch Ivan's Cup and share in the good luck!
Ivan couldn't help but laugh and shake his head, continuing his conversation with Asia while letting George and the others play with the Cup. After all, it wasn't that valuable.
He had already appraised it; despite its lavish appearance and golden shimmer, it wasn't actually made of real gold...
The Ministry of Magic's frugality was evident.
"You shouldn't have encouraged them to break the school rules, Albus..." Mcgonagall said with a hint of exasperation, watching the noisy crowd below from the stands.
Someone had thrown a few Bangfires into the field, causing a burst of colorful sparks and a minor commotion. Mcgonagall was very worried that someone might get hurt in the pushing and shoving.
"But this is indeed a day worth celebrating, isn't it, Minerva? A little relaxation won't do any harm..." Dumbledore replied.
Mcgonagall shook her head and didn't argue further, instead getting straight to the point. "When should we go to that village?"
"Of course, now. Voldemort could act at any moment... If we delay any longer, they might not be able to wait." Dumbledore said with a pointed meaning.
"But what about Hogwarts if we all leave?" Mcgonagall couldn't help but hesitate.
"Tonight, Sirius Black will be with Harry at all times, and Severus and Flitwick will stay to protect the students' safety", Dumbledore explained.
"Additionally, the Aurors Fudge brought will remain here on alert until they have cleared the Maze and transported all the dangerous magical creatures. If anything happens, they won't stand idly by..."
