Chapter 697: Avengers Battle Thanos (Second Update)
Chapter 697: Avengers Battle Thanos (Second Update)
Imperial Fan, who had lost all of his former grandeur, lay on the ground, barely able to lift his head. He watched as Jerry slowly approached with a group of people and coughed, saying:
"Mr. Carmen, I'm truly sorry. I didn't expect that the two precious artifacts I just bought from you would be stolen by this purple-skinned bandit. Sigh."
"Mr. Imperial Fan, there's no need to be so apologetic. I also despise those who rely on their own strength to rob others. It shows a complete lack of respect for fair trade."
Jerry laughed heartily, ignoring the murderous glare from Thanos, and continued speaking to Imperial Fan:
"Mr. Imperial Fan, how about this? We can make another deal. I'll help you deal with these bandits, and in return, you sell me this Voidland. Our group of Earth's Avengers is in need of a base outside of Earth."
Imperial Fan was initially stunned by Jerry's proposal. He then looked around at the nearly ruined Voidland and at Thanos, who was standing on his back. Imperial Fan's expression turned fierce as he gritted his teeth.
"Mr. Carmen, if you can really help me with this, giving you the Voidland is no issue!"
After living for so long, this was the first time he had ever experienced such humiliation. His vast collection of artifacts was almost entirely destroyed, and his beloved Voidland was in ruins.
If the legendary powerful Witch Jerry could help him avenge this, giving away the now worthless Voidland would be nothing.
"That's too much. How about this: I'll pay you one trillion!"
Seeing that Imperial Fan had agreed, Jerry smiled and turned to look at Thanos, who was still standing on Imperial Fan's back.
Since Jerry's appearance, Thanos had been filled with murderous intent but had remained surprisingly silent. This was because he had seen his two daughters, Gamora and Nebula, behind Jerry.
He knew that everything happening now had been meticulously planned by the other side.
"You seem overly confident. Just you and those so-called Earth's Avengers?"
Thanos kicked Imperial Fan away and, holding the two Infinity Stones, spoke with a tone of utter disdain for Jerry and his companions.
He had already figured out that Jerry and the group behind him were the same people he had sent Ebony Maw to Earth to test years ago—those who protected Earth.
They had defeated his subordinate, Ebony Maw, and had also defeated Ronan. Their strength was indeed formidable. However, defeating him and his invincible fleet was nothing short of a pipe dream, especially now that he possessed two Infinity Stones.
Therefore, even though he knew the other side was plotting something, he wasn't overly concerned. He always believed that in the face of absolute power, all schemes were meaningless.
"I've always been quite confident."
Jerry smiled and lifted his hand. Instantly, the Reality Stone, the Space Stone, and the Mind Stone appeared in his grasp.
"See, you have two Infinity Stones, and I have three. The person next to me, Stephen, is the new Sorcerer Supreme, and he has one as well. Four to two, it's clear we have a better chance of winning!"
"Four!"
Seeing the three Infinity Stones in Jerry's hand and the one around Stephen's neck, Thanos's eyes flashed with intense light.
He never imagined that the six Infinity Stones he had been searching for so desperately would all be gathered here at this moment. It truly was a case of "searching high and low without success, but finding it effortlessly."
"Everyone, attack! Kill them and take all the Infinity Stones!"
Thanos bellowed with excitement, wielding the Tyrant's Blades and leaping forward, aiming directly for Jerry.
"Let him die!"
Jerry snapped his fingers with a playful grin.
Facing the descending Thanos, the Scarlet Witch stepped in front of Jerry, gathering powerful Chaos Magic in her hands to block Thanos's lethal strike.
"Chains of Ceratok!"
Doctor Strange cast two crimson magic chains, instantly binding Thanos.
Star-Lord transformed his Celestial Power into a stone giant and punched at Thanos's head, aiming to crush him into a pulp with a single blow.
"Trivial tricks!"
Thanos roared in anger, letting go of the Tyrant's Blades. With a burst of strength, he flung Doctor Strange away. Then, he raised the Power Stone, using its energy to knock the stone giant Star-Lord back into the sky.
Although Thanos couldn't fly or use magic, he possessed unparalleled strength, endurance, regeneration, and agility. His skin was nearly indestructible, especially when it came to cold, heat, electricity, radiation, toxins, aging, and disease.
"Sleep!"
Aisha, who had already taken to the air, cast Sleep Magic. Thanos, who had just knocked Star-Lord away, suddenly felt his mind becoming hazy.
However, due to his strong resistance to magic, he shook his head and quickly recovered.
But in that brief moment, he was knocked to the ground.
It turned out that Dr. Banner had transformed into Hulk and landed on him, starting a frenzied assault.
Thanos's strength far exceeded Hulk's. After taking a few hits, he grabbed Hulk's arm and threw him away with a furious strength.
Before he could catch his breath, Thor roared and swung Mjolnir, bringing down a storm of powerful lightning. Vision, Drax, Groot, Iron Man, War Machine, and Spider-Man followed closely behind.
Despite his immense power and the assistance of the Power Stone and Soul Stone, Thanos was still pinned down by the coordinated efforts of the heroes.
As for his three powerful subordinates, they fared even worse.
They faced Captain America, leading Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, Black Panther, Rocket, Quicksilver, Black Widow, Ant-Man, Falcon, and the Winter Soldier.
The strong-willed Captain America, along with the mind-controlling Mantis, took on the Supergiant, who could manipulate others at will. The others ganged up on the Blade Runner and his wife, Proxima Midnight.
Tony and Steve's strategy was for each to lead a team. Tony led the superheroes with the toughest hides and those capable of ranged and magic attacks against the most dangerous Thanos. Steve, on the other hand, led the remaining superheroes to deal with Thanos's three capable subordinates, planning to regroup and finish off Thanos once they were done.
"Thanos, if you want the three gems in my hands, you'll have to get past them first!"
Jerry pocketed the three gems, slowly ascending into the air, and looked down at the struggling Thanos below.
He couldn't help but mutter to himself:
"How is it that I feel more like the big villain here!"
Usually, it's the big villain who holds the treasure, and the heroes endure hardships, defeat the villain's minions, and finally overcome the villain to claim the treasure.
